Drove about 30 miles slow down to a red light when engine went into failsafe mode but did not throw any codes. There was no check engine light at all. It took a couple of tries to get it running again. I am very concerned for my safety while driving extensively on highways without any clue as to how to solve this issue.
Normal clear weather driving down busy street when care suddenly slowed down almost resulting in a collision with vehicles behind me. The engine stopped , I restarted with very limited drivability the etc failsafe mode kicked in for no apparent reason this issue must be addressed before someone is seriously injured.
While driving 35 mph on the parkway the car accelorated as far as it would go, brakes failed and car went out of control and side swiped another car then went on a grassy strip and came to a stop.
While driving 35 mph on the truman parkway the car suddenly accelerated as fast as it would go. Brakes failed and car went out of control. After avoiding to hit 5 o6 cars it side swiped another car then veered to the right and came to a stop on a wet grassy area. In 2 previous incidents the engine revved up at a red light and I almost hit the car in front of me.
Emergency break stick . Can't gonna where stuck.
Car act like it stalls/skips/misfires around 2200 rpm, engine shuts off & "etc engine failsafe mode" is indicated. Diagnosis as electronic throttle control resulting in an unsafe driving condition typically when accelerating on freeway or causing complete engine shutdown. As indicated on a wed chat page this Lincoln Ls engine failsafe mode is a significant problem when the car won't go past 20 mph & then you get to play a game of lets Dodge 70 mph traffic w/ semi-trucks (where the minimum post interstate speed is 45 mph). From several web sites, it appears this error is a common safety concern with a number of Lincoln Ls's.
The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Ls. The contact stated that the etc engine fail safe mode warning light was constantly illuminated. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently to 10 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least three times for the failure but the dealer was unable to reproduce the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown. Kmj.
I was driving to work early in the morning with my child in the back seat. While getting off the freeway (thank god) my 2004 Lincoln Ls went into "etc engine failsafe mode". I could not accelerate or drive over 20. At this point, I had to pull over because I was in traffic and I did not want to get hit. Once I pulled over, I turned the car off for about 5 mins and then turned it back on. Starting driving out of the parking lot and once I got to the main road, the error message came on again. Could not accelerate over 20 again. At this point, I did 20 all the way to the sitters house to drop off my daughter and tried to drive my car to the dealership. I have been having issue on top of issue with this 2004 Lincoln Ls and by the reviews looks like I am not the only one. I goggled the error message and I find nothing but angry customers who have similar Lincolns. Someone needs to get to the bottom of this and have the company recall this car or pay for labor and parts for everyone. This is a inconvenience to everyone who owns a Lincoln and having these problems.
My 2000 Lincoln Ls has had numerous mechanical problems resulting in thousands of dollars in repairs. The car is in the shop right now having the transmission replaced.
