The fuel tank needs replacement due to a crack in the fuel tank is causing fumes in the vehicle. Exactly like the recall of 2005 Lincoln Ls, that the dealership cannot find because it is more than 15 years.

The contact owns a 2003 Lincoln Ls. While the vehicle was parked, there was a strong fuel odor coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who confirmed the fuel odor along the rear passenger side wheel. The contact was informed that a lot of parts would need to be removed in order to diagnose the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 05v113000 (fuel system). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Coils keep failing on low mileage car. Electrical issues with various components and security alarm goes off many times each day.
Took transmission for repair. Transmission shop could not load new Lincoln software on new computer module. It has been two weeks at rowlett transmission shop and now the "engine side" of the new computer installed will not clear. Says there in an engine issue now. There was no engine issue before I took it to get the transmission fixed.
I purchased my 2003 Lincoln Ls June/2015. Excellent condition, 35,000 miles. Interior immaculate condition leather seats and carpet virutally untouched. Underneath hood the same, hadn't look as if been driven. Exterior body and paint again excellent. The car appeared as if it had stood still in time. Upon investigation, only one owner of the vehicle who'd maintained a first class maintenance record. Over the last week the vehicle my wife was driving she said while driving the vechicle began to stall while she was accelerating in traffic. She stated she was able to get it out the street but in doing so the engine revved up and shut off. Over the past few days on several occasions the vehicle replicated the exact same tendency with me. Stalling, hesitating during acceleration to the point of shut down in the middle of traffic. In motion on a very busy city street. Engine light also came on.
Cadilac converter rattle and make loud noises. Idler stay high, ive changed it three times dealer even tried, but wants me to keep spending money on other ideas they have of what the problem is.

It was driving fine one day until I went to start it. It said etc engine fail safe mode, check parking brake and something about the gears. It starts sometimes, I've had it shut down while doing 50 mph and lose steering and bad braking. This is a potential hazard for my newborn in the car. Now it wont start and no one knows what the problem is. How can they sell a car that they cant find out the problem on themselves and sell it?.
While traveling on a divided highway at approximately 35 mph my car abruptly slowed to about 20 mph causing vehicles behind me to brake and/or swerve around me. A "wrench" warning light came on and I found after getting to a safe spot and stopping, that the owner's manual stated that the car was in the "limp mode" where it would not go any faster and needed to be taken to my nearest Ford dealership. After stopping the car I shut if off and upon restarting, the warning "wrench" light was off and the car acted normally. I contacted a number of dealerships and mechanics and found that it's a somewhat common problem, but the fix could be anything from a bad transmission solenoid to a complete fuel/computer/ignition redo for $4500 to $6500. Having this happen on a rural road is one thing, but if it happened on an expressway with traffic at 75 mph plus, could quite possibly be lethal.
While traveling on a divided highway at approximately 65 mph my car abruptly slowed to about 10 mph causing vehicles behind me to brake and/or swerve around me. I drove to a mechanics and found that it's a somewhat common problem, diagnostics showed that it needed a throttle body assembly replacement. After spending over $525,the problem reoccurred several times. This is obviously a major problem for many other Ford vehicles and must be turned into a recall. When this happens in traffic or on an expressway at 65 mph plus, this could quite possibly cause a high speed chain reaction fatal crash. This same problem was just written about in the usatoday newspaper.
On i95 car started hesitating, bucking I pulled off i95 and slowly bucked to work when I left work slowly drove home engine light came on and went to my mechanic. He checked the car out and said it is probably the catalytic converter, these Ls's are know for this problem. He said I could continue to drive it safely as I only put less than 5000 miles a year but eventually it will go. I went on line and so many people have reported the same issue with all different years of this model. It has acted up several times and then it settles down and drives okay, the check engine light is on again and I wonder why there has not been a recall on this car and issue as so many people have been on line about it, it must be a defect, probably why they stopped making this car. It is too costly to repair this car because of the age and its a shame as I only have 80000 miles on it. Automakers should be held liable for these defective issues.

I have been have been made aware of a issue with my Lincoln Ls sedan 2004 v8 with the failure of the coils. There has been an extended warranty by Lincoln Ford pertaining to the recall or damage parts on my model. The warranty was extended for 10 years or 100,000 miles for this problem. The issue is that with the coils failing it affects the throttle body in every instance with the coils failing. I believe Lincoln/Ford should be including this part for warranty repair as it comes hand in hand in the problems with coils failing and putting the vehicle in safe mode. There are many people with the same problems of coils failing and then the throttle body failing thereafter. I would that this problem that now has arrived for the Lincoln Ls sedans 2004 and other years be resolved and not creating a finacial bind to try to repair the throttle body of $900. 00 dollars. Please forward any parties that may help me and others solve our continous problems with are cars. Thanks.

Driving down road - etc engine failsafe mode light comes on, and car drives terrible and slow. Then, as drive down the road, abs light and check autotrac light come on. Pulled over to wait to for tow truck, as Ford place told me the car would eventually shut down on the highway if I kept driving it (I was just trying to drive it to the Ford place) problem ended up being throttle body, which was replaced for $1255 parts & labor. After throttle body replaced, rear wheel sensor for abs is bad, and needs to be replaced for $220. I told them to hold off on that, as it was already expensive enough, and they have had my car for 3 days already. This is a safety issue to just come on without warning while driving down the road. Also, the car barely moves in this mode. My car is a 2004 Lincoln Ls with 78,000 miles. This has happened sooner than would be expected, and I wonder if it is a lemon car with all of the issues that just began occurring. I also had the battery replaced a little over a week ago.
The car will suddenly surge or die out while driving. Can occur at any time while driving, did it to me multiple times, whether in idle or on the highway going 50+mph. I am trying to get the part replaced from the dealer. The part is on backorder, seemingly there is a large number of these going bad and not enough new ones to go around. The part the dealer is telling me went bad is the throttle body.
Lincoln Ls 2004 - throttle body failure - engine fail safe mode - no parts available nationwide from October 2009 until present date March 4, 2010 - unsafe to drive and car remains at dealership with no date from Ford for replacement as apparently they are trying to re-engineer and fix whatever is the problem. After looking on internet this is apparently a problem that is running throughout the entire Ford line. It seems like this is in complete contrast to the problem that Toyota is having in that without warning the engine shuts down to 20 to 30 miles per hour leaving you vulnerable on the highway and unable to warn anyone driving behind you that you have a problem that you have no control over throttle. Many owners report cars jump forward or reverse without warning.
Since purchasing this car, its been nothing but problems. The problems I've experienced aren't any different from all the other Ls owners. Coil packs going bad, the a/c blowing hot air, the car going into fail safe mode while on the freeway, the smell of gasoline inside the car. It looks like these issues have been going on since Ford started producing the car. Now wonder they needed bailout money. I got in my car this morning and it went into fail safe mode 3x's before I could get out of the drive way! all of these issues with this car dating as far back as 2001, and no recalls, c'mon man. My tax dollars went to help out this company!!!! [xxx]shame!!!! this is my first and last time buying a Ford! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
2004 Lincoln Ls. This is the third time that I have had problems with the acceleration. When you push on the gas petal the tool light comes on and the speed that I can drive is around 30 miles per hour. I can not drive the care on the highway. I have changed the ignition coils and now I have been told that it is the throttle body. I have been having this problem for about 4 years on and off.
