Engine failure TSB 19-2346, a known/common issue with this engine. The car only has 73,790 miles on it. The car started shaking when started, engine light on, empty coolant reservoir and off then parking brake came on randomly several times , and the brakes locked up twice, which resulted in going over a curb. Discontinued driving the vehicle after that incident obviously due to safety. Ford service center gave a $13,000 repair estimate. The vehicle is still at Ford and available for inspection.
Engine warning light went on. Replaced spark plugs and coil to cylinder # 2. Then, traction control light indicated system off. Technician advised the need for dealership software upgrade to abs. Dealership advised that engine block allowing coolant intrusion into #2 cylinder. Needs a new engine. And need for a new abs module, also defective.
After a repair/service visit at a national auto repair chain, my 2017 Lincoln Mkc developed ongoing severe drivability and safety issues. The check engine light began flashing (active misfire), and the vehicle was unsafe for highway travel due to risk of loss of power/engine damage. Independent shop documentation reports cylinder #4 misfire (p0304) and additional engine timing-related code(s), low oil condition, and notes indicating internal engine damage and that the engine may require replacement. The vehicle also had a vacuum/brake booster line issue that affected brake assist until corrected. The problem has been confirmed by independent service centers and the vehicle is available for inspection. There was a near crash, but no fire, injury, or police report occurred.
On February 23,2025 I parked the car on our son’s driveway which has an incline at about 5:00pm. Over the next 5 hours the car moved backwards down the driveway to almost the end of the driveway where it stopped thankfully & didn’t go into the street where it could have been hit or hit someone walking past. I have the movement recorded on a ring video. I took it to our local Ford dealer to have it checked out & they couldn’t find anything wrong with the brakes & I showed them the video. They were stumped. I started to use the emergency brake since then & have not had a problem since. But I am uneasy about this situation since I have never had a problem with any other vehicle I’ve owned.
First incident: my daughter was in the vehicle in our driveway in March 2022 and was leaving. She came running inside and told me she hit the start button and that the vehicle did not start, but started to roll down the driveway with the steering wheel locked in position. She was stepping on the brakes and the vehicle continued to roll out into the street until it finally stopped when it hit the curb across the street. She stated the brakes did not work. She hit the start button again and the vehicle started and she drove it back into our driveway to tell me about the incident and the loss of brakes and steering. Second incident: 5/9/22, my daughter was parked at the gas station with 2 friends. After putting gas in the car, she hit the start button and the car did not start, but instead started rolling forward with the steering wheel locked and no brakes. She kept pumping the brakes and nothing would stop the car. She started hitting buttons on the dashboard in an attempt to get the vehicle to stop, but it ran into the yellow bollard at the gas station and scraped the entire passenger side of the vehicle. She pressed the start button and held it down for several seconds before that made the vehicle finally stop. Her two friends corroborated that the vehicle would not stop even though she was frantically pressing the brakes. We now have approximately $4,000 worth of damage down the passenger side of the vehicle. My daughter is afraid to drive the vehicle anymore as this is the second time the vehicle failed to start, started moving, the steering wheel was locked, and the brakes did not work to stop the vehicle.
2016 Lincoln Mkc parked on driveway for over 24 hours, when my father was outside gardening he noticed smoke and flames coming from under the hood, the fire department was called who out the fire out and stated it was "totaled". Fire department conducted their own investigation to determine the cause of the fire. The report returned indicating the "engine" was the origin of the fire. Thank the lord my father was outside or our garage and house could have burnt down with all of us in it. This is a huge safety issue!! I opened two claims with carmax maxcare warranty which were denied. I have one case open with Ford motor company which is still pending. Car is currently at autoshop undergoing another diagnosis of the the orgin of fire for my carmax maxcare warranty.
I am driving in the car and the car is turned off, the car is sometimes driving and the car stops and the car is slowed down, the transmission is the fifth time I take it to the dealer and it returns to the dame problemi am afraid of crashing because the car stop without wanting.
I started the vehicle, the sync system went through a restart, killing the engine and turning off the dashboard panels. It had happened before on a level surface, but this time I was on a 10-15% grade. I stopped again, turned the vehicle off and returned about 15 minutes later. I was on a slight hill, with the elevation lower in front of the vehicle. I started the car and stepped completely out within 10-15 seconds. I stepped outside the vehicle, which had been running for 10-15 seconds. The hatch was open and two friends behind could clearly see through the vehicle, to know that I didn't touch the push button transmission. The vehicle started rolling down the hill. I jumped in, but the brakes didn't work and the instrument panel was dark. It stopped rolling when it collided against a parked truck approximately 50 feet in front. The engine was off when it stopped. I think the recycle of the sync system caused an intermittent malfunction of the electrical system, causing the brakes, steering and pushbutton transmission to become non-operable. This resulted in damage of $8568 to my Mkc and of $1512 to the parked truck. Since this is an intermittent incident, it can't be replicated at a dealer even if it happened, it would be on a level surface and would not roll. I have driven the vehicle for an additional 7 months and 8,819 miles. The current mileage is 27,474. During that time, the vehicle has started and then gone through an electrical recycle which caused the engine to turn off at least 5 times. Two of those times were on a flat surface. I ran over a cooncrete curb a month ago. Tonight it happened in my driveway & ran up onto my front porch, which has a step up of about 6 inches. I called Lincoln concierge to report the 2nd incident. They told me that they could do nothing until the problem was recreated in a garage - or it kills or injures someone.
As far as everybody did and shut down three times in a major intersections as far as to completely shut off or keep up with the camera activity and it seems to not be able to empower through the cabin or central part of the cabin where the computer is stored when I had my f****** completely turn itself off and ran or red lights just to barely make it to my house and in the car would not start I had various problems with his car and I admit paid thousands at this point to see it keep up with it and I've seen it the under several recalls and just now seeing that my car is reaching some of the max amount that I've ever even been issue. I've never received an email on this car having a recall because I moved a few years ago and although I pick up my mail there I've never received anything from Lincoln or have I had any things in the middle for you guys my main concern is getting this rental car in place while all these updates I haven't paid for are completely addressed immediately and in their entirety no longer putting my life safety and the lives of others at risk around me.
