Electrical System Problems of Lincoln MKS - part 1

Electrical problem continues to happen. I was trying to unlock the car. It would unlock and lock , windows roll down, sunroof open and all windows roll down without my help. Radio will turn all the way up. I placed a fixd in the car. Repairs started flashing low battery, sensor with steering, seat belts, and airbags. This has happen several times. I went to a shop. They told me I had a recall. I went to a dealer, they said I did not. I am confused and afraid to drive my car at times. Because this has happened when I am driving to.

I’ve owned my 2012 Lincoln Mks for 3 years. A warning recently appeared saying “power steering assist fault,” and now the steering is very hard to turn, especially at low speeds. I’ve already paid around $1,800 in the past to fix this issue once, but now I’m experiencing the same or similar problems again. I haven’t had it officially diagnosed this time because both Ford and the dealer told me it wouldn’t be covered, since the recall (15s18) is now expired. This is a serious safety issue. The car is difficult to control and unsafe to drive. I’m a full-time worker and a father of two toddlers, and I’m still making payments on this car that I now can’t safely use — or only for short trips while constantly worrying about steering failure. I just found out about this old recall, and the dealership never told me anything about it when I bought the car used. I strongly believe I’m experiencing the same issue Ford previously recalled these vehicles for, and I’m asking NHTSA to investigate or reopen the recall so it can be repaired before me or my family is seriously injured.

The climate control system malfunctions by raising the temperature for the heater without any input. When turned off, it turns on by itself and resumes raising the temperature until it maxes out. This occurs when first started and also while driving, causing a severe distraction as the beeping is distracting and the temperature will not stop rising even when the my temperature buttons are pressed to decrease the temperature. Other Mks owners have complained online. The car is available for inspection upon request. Sustained distraction while trying to find the temperature adjustment buttons and the off button lasts too long, creating a serious driving danger and large potential for an accident, even a head on accident. I have only experienced this when using the heater. It has not happened to me in the summer yet. I have not taken it to a dealer, yet. I will soon to find out how much they want to charge me for their vehicle design failure. The vehicle has not been inspected by others. There were no warnings or messages or symptoms. They first appeared within the last six months and have gotten worse with time. Now the runaway climate control occurs more frequently while driving.

Rear back up camera fails. I’ve noticed there is an active recall, on newer Lincoln’s, for this same problem.

The control panel that operates the heat/ac, audio controls and also houses the hazard light button has a high failure rate and will do its own thing or fail to operate all together. The volume will randomly max out by itself creating a blaring unbearable loudness and you have to hit the tap/hot the unit for it to stop. The heat /ac will also do whatever it wants randomly. The hazard light button will also not work randomly. I've talked to other Mks owners and this is very common issue to have.

Ford port richey overcharged for diagnosis. Claim on credit report still owe them. Same with ferman Ford clearwater overcharged key. Said need two in order to program ecm. Broke two other things. Wiper cord and guitar strings were cracked.

My car will intermittently (more times than not) lose its power steering assist, making it almost impossible for me to drive. I've had the car looked at, replaced the rack and pinion assembly, put on new tires, ran a diagnostic, and the car still lacks power steering most of the time. When starting the vehicle, the wheel will lock up, and the message "power steering assist fault" displays, no matter how many times I try to restart the car and allow the computer to reset, the fault does not go away. I rarely have times when I can drive with a power steering assist. The car has become a serious problem because I cannot get to work or school safely; when driving the other day, the power steering went out, and I was almost in an accident. I believe that there is a defect in the 2010 Mks, just like there was with the other years that were recalled, the fact that this issue has cost me so much money (and I cannot get out from under the car, I would if I could), and still puts me at risk for serious injury is seriously concerning.

The 2011 through 2013 Lincoln Mks were recalled for the electric power steering assist suddenly going out and it is the same on this car and could have gotten someone seriously hurt these need to be added to the recall thanks for looking.

Ac blower motor resistor control module faulty causes fan to be stuck in one speed then system varies up and down and vents smoke. Forward warning comes on for no reason?.

Lincoln customer service has been an ultimate nightmare. Previously spent $2,000 just so the car would stop blasting the heat, blasting the radio, locking and unlocking vehicle. In order to get the car stereo working it’s an additional $4,000. From all my research I’m relieved I’m one of many dealing with this recall Lincoln refuses to take responsibility on screwing loyal customers like me. The car retains water in the bottom of door frames. Front collision doesn’t work and it will sometimes go crazy when I’m near car like locking and unlocking car sporadically. I refuse to allow any children to ride in this car due to its unpredictable behavior like it has a mind of its own. The contact 2013 Lincoln Mks. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the heating system activated independently and was blowing hot air on a 90-degree summer day. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring and persisted while driving. Upon investigating the failure online, the contact related the failure to the front control interface module (fcim). The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part was not available to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

We just purchased this car and shortly after we were driving home and it just starts beeping and suddenly the heat comes on full blast, no one is touching the controls. This happens quite frequently and once it starts rising there doesnt seem to be a way to stop it. A simple google search shows that this is a well known problem by Lincoln and happens a lot, there are a lot of forums and videos all showing the exact same issue. This is a major safety concern as it causes a distraction from the noise and sudden temp change, causes distractions as you frantically hit buttons trying to get it to stop, and could even cause the window to fog up. My dealer said its not covered by any recalls or warranty and wants $1000 to fix it. I called the Lincoln help line and they said to report the issue to you.

The power just comes on on my climate control and the temperature starts to go all the way up, and when you try to turn it off it comes back on and if you try to turn it down it goes back up it happens when my vehicle is in motion or stationary, it does that for a little while and stop then it starts doing it again. The first time it happen was 03/12/2021 but it happens almost everyday.

My vehicle's interior temperature will automatically increase to its maximum setting very quickly. I noticed that it's due to the touch sensitivity of the touch panel, which controls the vehicle's air conditioning, heat, music controls, and more. This has almost caused me to crash because of driver discomfort and having to warm up the touch panel with my hands, in order to allow it to stop changing by itself. This happens every day and is very concerning. Areas of the touch panel are unresponsive as well. I noticed this soon after my vehicle recieved an over-the-air update (a few months ago). This occurred just after my vehicle reached the 100k mile mark which was the warranty limit on the component. My vehicle currently has 111,900 miles on its odometer.

Ecm ficum went to Ford port richey, flpaid $300 for diagnosis. Harassment with bill on credit report. Charge n charge but don't want to repair car. Same with ferman Ford clearwater FL there charged $300 just for new key an check everything. Back to golden oldies mechanic fixed ac sensor not ficum. Needs coolant sensor leaks out pressure due to ecm. They said it had a year warranty but not electronics.

The power steering goes in and out making it impossible to control when it happens. Very difficult to turn the wheel, issue # 2 temperature control goes from set temperature to full heat unassisted. You cannot turn the high temperature setting off. It is unbearable to drive in car with heat on full blast. Both of these issues can happen in motion or when stopped.

Every recall associated with the 2013 Lincoln Mks I have wrong with my vehicles. But when I call to have it serviced they tell me my VIN number is not included in any recalls, but yet my vehicle has all the recall problems.

There is a problem with the climate control system (fcim) that causes the temperature to run up to maximum temperature. It cannot be shut off. This is very dangerous because with extremely elevated temperatures in the car you are very liable to fall asleep. Or try to reduce the temp by banging on the controls, this makes you very distracted. This problem exists whenever the car is running, in motion or stopped.

I took my 2015 Lincoln Mks to the Ford dealership to replace a water pump. After they inspected my vehicle, they determined that it was indeed a bad water pump. They quoted that it would take 15 hours for the repair and cost $2,500. I had no other choice but to have my car repaired and paid $2,547. 5 days later my son was driving the car stopped and filled the car with gas. He drove the car 1000 ft and noticed white smoke coming from the engine. He parked the car and got out and the car ignited with the engine turned off. The fire destroyed the entire car. The fire department had to put the fire out. The fire started in the engine.

The control for temperature in car at any time can go to maximum heat while driving. It is unbearable inside of the car not good for my elder mom when it happens as it is too hot in car.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Lincoln Mks. The contact stated that his front left head light flashed intermittently while in operation. The contact also mentioned that his front driver side wheel made an abnormal squeaking noise while traveling under 25 mph. There are no warning lights that inform the contact of a defect. The dealer nor the manufacturer have been notified of the matter. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 132,000. Jo.

Hvac controls turns itself off, causing windsheild to fog up.

At various speeds, defective fcim (front controls interface module) resulting in temperature set to all the way hi/max fan, creating cabin temperatures exceeding 90 degrees fahrenheit. Turning off the ac system or reducing the temperature does not resolve the issue. Performing a reset of the car's sync system does not resolve the issue. This is a common complaint, generating at least 3 NHTSA complaints as well as a TSB. It creates a hazardous condition when transporting vulnerable riders such as infants and the elderly (those sensitive to heat), as well as interfering with the car's defogging mechanism reducing visibility under certain circumstances and creating dangerous driving conditions.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Lincoln Mks. The contact stated that the vehicle had a salvaged title. The contact stated that the sun roof drain was clogged and caused water to drain into the panels, which damaged the electrical system and air conditioning. In addition, an unknown sensor illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics. One mechanic removed the panels and drained the water, but the failure recurred. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

All four doors started retaining water and I have to pull the rubber back and let it drain but when there was a hard rain I would get leaks from the moon roof area that leaked on to the console/gearshift area I took it to a shop but they couldn't find any thing wrong then after a hard rain I sucked 12 gallon of water out of the drivers side floorboard it seemed that it was seeping in from under the dash or somewhere under the floorboard because as soon as I vacuumed some more would appear also before I vac I could hear water sloshing and it wasn't in the doors if that wasn't enough my wife was driving and the moon roof opened by it self and would not close so I took it to a dealer and they charged me 150. 00 to close it and told me I needed two motors and a new switch and other parts totaling around 700. 00 and but I felt that all that wasn't needed since I had never open the roof before in 4 years which meant to me the motors should be ok since I had never used it so I declined the two motors and asked them to put everything else in and leave it closed and I would be satisfied so they closed the moon roof but not the sun screen and told me that they could not close the screen because the roof might open back up and they may not be able to get it closed I paid out 400. 00 and I'm driving around in a beautiful 2014 Mks I bought in 2015 new and only has 58000 miles and in mint condition love my Lincoln but scared when it rain this is a nightmare can you help or tell them how to correct the problem.

The heating system for the car will automatically turn up to 90 degree, all on its own. I am unable to shut it off, or turn it down. This is ES[specially dangerous with the defogger.

Rear driver side suspensi�n coil spring broke while backing out of driveway. Also on the electrical end, the power locks rattle to the open & close position constantly on drivers side & rear passenger side .

Loud popping and cracking noise coming from speakers even when the audio is powered off. I tried to update my sync system, but that didn't seem to resolve the problem. I have call the manufacture for help, but they were able to provide 0 assistance. This happens randomly, more in the evening or night time. While the car is both stationary and in motion.

On 7/13/17 my a/c fdim module was replaced for failure. While driving the defective unit would turn itself on in the air conditioning mode and begin on the coolest digital setting then progressively adjust the temperature until it reached it highest point. I tried several attempts to turn the touch screen off but the unit kept turning the a/c on and would have harmed the a/c compressor. It was summer time and the heat on high and was uncontrollable was not a good situation. The car was taken to the Lincoln dealership to find that the module needed to be replaced due to failure. Since the Lincoln Mks was a certified car, it was replaced under warranty at no cost to me. However, I am concerned that this new unit could fail in the future with no warranty left on the vehicle at about $1400. 00 or more. I have noticed that there has been another case with the same issue. There may be others that I am not aware of. I am just communicating my issue with my vehicle at only 33,308 miles.

Vehicle started to loose power. The "see owner's manual" light illuminated. The vehicle was coasted to a nearby dealer atchinson Ford, belleville, mi, where it was diagnosed that the throttle mechanisn was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000. Fe.

Vehicle parked at restaurant, when came back out the doors were unlocked, the windows were down and the sunroof was open. This has happened three different times.

The contact owns a 2010 Lincoln Mks. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code, but experienced the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

Faulty electrical system causes the car to cut off! stall! for several minutes and then it starts back up. I have been stranded five times!.
