6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Lincoln MKT

Failure Date: 10/08/2016

I heard about a recall of certain Lincoln Mkt's with the ecoboost engine back in August. There was mention that there was a problem with the fuel injector and that the car could potentially stall. I promptly made an appointment to take my car into the dealership. When there, they told me they didn't have the parts and had no idea what to even order; that I should wait for a notice from Ford/Lincoln. I did receive a letter a couple weeks ago but it said to wait until the dealership contacts me that they have parts or contact them if my car shows "symptoms", whichever occurs first. On Saturday, my car literally stopped working with not more than a 2 minute warning. I had been driving it on errands. I stopped at a friends's house of about 15 minutes. I had turned the car off. When I left my friend's house, I was driving down a residential street-25 mph. Suddenly, the car felt funny. It was hesitating. I thought it was in the wrong gear. I looked down, saw it wasn't and w/in a minute, the car was dead. The engine was still running but the car wouldn't move forward or backward. Over the next 1. 75 hours as I waited for Lincoln roadside assistance, I tried to start the car. It would start but immediately stall out. The electrical was still working. Had I been on a highway or main road with a fast moving car or truck behind me, I'd be either dead or forever disabled. These cars need to be off the road!.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKT

Failure Date: 11/30/2015

This vehicle was modified by small volume manufacturer baf technologies (now westport) with an epa-approved cng conversion package. The fuel filler receptacle, however, was not securely mounted to the frame. It was merely mounted on a plastic disc and glued to a plastic interior body panel. That glued mounting has now failed within the 'bumper to bumper' warranty period, but westport/baf has refused to repair it under warranty. Their los angeles warranty service provider has also refused to perform this repair even if I pay for it. The original mounting method is extremely weak and would result in serious or catastrophic damage (e. G. Gas leak, fire, explosion) if the user were to 'drive off' with the dispenser hose attached. All of these vehicles need to be retrofitted to meet nfpa requirements for mobile cng systems, including the ability to survive a 'drive-off' without serious or catastrophic damage. See nfpa section 52 6. 9. 2 "the fueling connection receptacle shall be mounted to withstand the breakaway force specified in 7. 11. 6. 2. (150 pounds in any direction the vehicle can move)" in addition, I believe this mounting violates nfpa 6. 9. 3 (receptacle not installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations) and 6. 9. 4 (insufficient clearance to prevent interference with operation of the fueling nozzle). This failure occurred when the vehicle was being refueled. The only damage in this case was to the receptacle mounting. The mounting was apparently not even strong enough to withstand the forces of connecting and disconnecting the fueling hose and nozzle during normal fueling operations.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKT

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

Received recall notice 14s10, NHTSA 14v-393 from Lincoln and took vehicle to dealer for inspection. Object of recall was found defective. Left vehicle on 12 August, after being told the vehicle was safe to drive even with the defective parts. I did not feel comfortable driving the car after reading what the defect could cause. After 2 weeks, was told some of the parts were not available to complete the repair. I consider this not responsive to the public.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Lincoln MKT

Failure Date: 02/22/2014

I bought certified (cpo) 2010 Lincoln Mkt in Aug 2013. It had a mileage of around 50500 miles. After running just around 5k, it shivered and broke down on a trip when I was about to merge to highway from an exit and there were white fumes from the cylinder. At first they mentioned, there is a problem with fuel injector and it needs to be replaced. Later they mentioned of a problem with few other parts and replaced the same too. Then they mentioned of replacing the engine and done the same. But problem didn't solve. Later they changed the torque sensor or something and gave the vehicle after 1. 5 months. But I was hearing some type of noise from the hood and returned to dealership in 2 days. And then they mentioned of replacing engine belt and axle. But still problem was unsolved and they asked me to authorize for opening the dash to determine the problem. But I opposed it and contacted Lincoln. Later they authorized the labour and took the car again to workshop. After that they changed pulley belt. But the noise didn't disappear. Later they had an engineer from Lincoln come and examine the vehicle. And the engineer asked of replacing the transmission. But it too didn't work. And the Lincoln engineer came up again and mentioned of replacing 1 upper engine mount, 1 upper transmission mount, 1 front engine roll restrictor, 1 rear engine roll restrictor. It's already more than 4. 5 months since when vehicle is under repairs and with no luck. In between a claim was made with Lincoln to buy back or replace the vehicle, but they refused the same as well. So far below repairs have been made but the problem is still not solved 100%.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Lincoln MKT

Failure Date: 11/10/2010

When I first got the car in 2010, the first incident occurred while I was driving about 40 mph. I would step on the accelerator and the car would jerk and the rpm's would rev up and nothing would happen. On an oil change service, I reported this to the dealer and they said they could not reproduce the incident and nothing showed up on the computer record chip. On many occasions after, the same thing would happen, I would step on the accelerator and the car would jerk furiously and the rpm's would rev up and nothing would happen. . . The car was at a standstill. This would happen while I was sitting at a traffic light or trying to make a left turn. If I was trying to make a left turn and this occurred, I could of gotten killed if the car did not move during the middle of the turn. . . . Luckily there was no oncoming traffic when it happened. I reported this may times to different Lincoln dealers in the metro detroit area. . . They all said it could not be reproduced. . . They made me feel as though I was crazy for reporting this. I would even go to the dealer on the day it would happen so they could check the computer chip within 24 hours of the incident and still nothing showed up. Finally, a check engine light came on about a year ago, and the dealer finally determined that it was a speed sensor that went bad. The dealer could not detect the problem if the speed sensor was partially bad, it had to fully go bad in order for it to be detected. This was very frustrating and cost me a lot of time, money, energy and mental anguish wondering if I was going to die because the car would not work while I was turning or in the middle of traffic.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Lincoln MKT

Failure Date: 10/23/2010

On six occasions a flame followed by billowing back smoke has poured from my vehicle. Each time the dealership replaced the turbocharger - only to have it happen again.
