Car frequently failed to stop timely when brakes were pressed. A hydraulic control unit was advised and brake booster to be installed.
The contact owns a 2009 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated while driving 45 mph and depressing on the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated she continued to pump on the brake pedal until the vehicle began to decelerate. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the hydraulic control unit (hcu) to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000.
I have to change the breaks & rotors twice in 2 years. My mechanic says it is the 'break booster'. He stated that their might be a recall. The vehicle is having issues stopping. I am afraid the will go out and cause an accident. The breaks make a released air sound and it is hard to make a complete stop. So I stopped driving it.
Brakes intermittently don't grab sometimes and sometime they grind when applied. I have had them worked on multiple times and I've had mechanics to tell me that there's some problem in the control unit that's causing this. I've had everything replaced and it still happens.
I hear a hissing noise when depressing the brake pedal and the brakes feel spongy and not very responsive. Garage have diagnosed a leaking brake booster. Lincol recall 13n02 exactly fits this fault but is only being applied to 2010 - 2013 models, mine is 2009. This recall needs to be extended to cover 2009 models too.
Brake booster vacuum leaks causing brakes to squeal and hiss thus rendering vehicle unsafe stop. . The recall starts on 2010 models but the recall should have started on the 2009s. I had to replace it and it cost 700. Now my vehicle is mechanically sound.
I have a 2009 Lincoln Mkx where the brakes were so stiff that I could hardly stop my vehicle. This is such a huge safety issue. This issue has been covered under Ford for certain VIN #'s but not under my 2009 VIN number. I can't understand how this is covered by them for some cars and not others? evidently it will take injury or death for Ford to realize that this isn't something that should be over looked in some vins and not others. This was a cost of close to $850 which in my opinion should be covered by Ford! have a 2009 Lincoln Mkx where the brakes were so stiff that I could hardly stop my vehicle. This started in September 2015 until I finally had to get it fix in November 2015.
Brakes activate when turning and I pushing the gas pedal one year after I purchased this car , I noticed the brakes would active when I am making a a right turn. It was either raining or beginning to snow. The car would brake as I was making a turn while I giving it gas to turn. Happened at least 3 times while I was turning on a main road. This could have been a life threatening event. Imagine a car coming at you and your gas pedal is not responding while at the same time your car is braking. A very scary scenario. I took it to the dealer. They said brakes need calibration and that I needed new brakes. I said sure. I asked is that normal for a car to do that when brakes wear out . They said no and tested the & found no issues. I paid for the brake replacements. 3 months go by and the same thing. Took back to dealer and they couldn't duplicate but the brakes were fine. I stressed the problem of moisture( rain & snow) when this occurs. This occurs when I first start driving the car under those conditions. Happens once and then I am fine for the of the drive. This keeps happening to me. I have contacted the Lincoln headquarters & all I hear is take it to the dealer. But no solution. I even found people with similar problems on google and printed them & showed to the dealer. I did not get any help. All I got was that we cant duplicate it. . On June 15, 16 and 17 2014 this problem has occurred 6 different times. I will contracting the dealer soon. This is a very scary situation.
