The contact owns a 2016 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact stated that the "low brake fluid" warning light was displayed while the contact pumped the brake pedal before the vehicle drifted to a stop. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, and was diagnosed with a rear brake hose failure. The contact then received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v544000 (service brakes, hydraulics); however, parts for the recall were not yet available. The dealer was notified of the failure, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer acknowledged the recall, and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that a claim could be filed to be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket repairs on the vehicle related to the failure. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
While driving home from work during rush hour, a warning light illuminated on my dashboard and my vehicle suddenly lost braking ability. When I pressed the brake pedal, the vehicle did not slow or stop. I was forced to pull onto the shoulder of the road and pump the brake pedal extremely hard multiple times before the vehicle finally came to a stop. This occurred in heavy traffic and created an immediate and severe safety risk. The vehicle was towed to a dealership for inspection. I was informed that only a “temporary fix” could be performed, and I was required to pay approximately $500 for this repair in order to regain use of the vehicle. The vehicle has not received a permanent repair, and the dealership has taken several months without completing a permanent fix. I have also been waiting several months for reimbursement of the almost $500 paid for the temporary repair, with no resolution. I am concerned that I was charged for a temporary repair related to a serious safety failure and that continued delays in both reimbursement and permanent repair place me at ongoing risk. I am filing this complaint due to the dangerous nature of the brake failure, the lack of a permanent repair, the extended delay in resolving a critical safety issue, and the financial burden placed on me for a temporary solution.

My car is currently under two recall notices however only one of the issues has been communicated to me of resolution. One being emissions control 25e02 and second being recall 25s87 rear brake flexible hose leak. Recall 1- emissions has been a problem for about 2 years now. Emissions are connected to my engine thus having my check engine light come on. My car failed an emissions test but was only 4 years old and the catalytic converters are not broken, have hole, anything leading to failed test, car repair fees and non-registered vehicle. The second recall is not being fixed, and I have had to replace my brake house, line and rear right brake twice this year. Lastly, I have collision warning however it does not work properly if at all. I was in a minor fender bender when I went to push on brakes the sound to warn me of a collision did not go off until after the crash! I am unsure of the process but if connected to my braking system it failed and if it is a preventative measure it sucks.
Right rear brake line ruptured while driving. I felt the pedal go to the floor, pulled over and got towed home. Upon inspection of the line, I see that it split at the connection of the lies, no one else has inspected it, obviously people could have been killed, and Ford has recalled the same thing for the front lines. . .
Rear brake hose rupture. Have previously experiences rupture in front hose while driving associated with recall. Repaired April 2024. This time I was leaving a grocery store and had similar experience. Was thankfully still parked. Had car towed to dealership. Diagnosed as rear brake hose rupture. No brake light warnings, nothing noted during last oil change.
Brake hose burst suddenly causing loss of all fluid and pressure. Hose is bent at an acute angle causing unnecessary stress on the hose.
A dangerous stall of the engine happens when accelerating,.
Condensation build up in my passenger headlamp has caused the led rope lighting to stop working. This shows a recall but one not offered at this time. I have never received any recalls through the mail form. I recently moved and my address is as follows: sharon kidd 12063 signal view rd,knoxville TN 37932.
I have had to replace my rear brake pads, rotors, and the whole braking system (not related to sensors) three times in a year. I received the recall notice after the third time and had a mechanic fix my brake hose as a short-term remedy for my car. Not only does my car have a delay in breaking it is a delay in the monitoring service. Technically the sounds related to my vehicle are not related to braking at all by the speed in which a car slows down before it breaks. In this case that mean if I slam on my breaks the "emergency sound" does not go off. I have a minor fender bender as well due to these two problems associated with my braking system.
I placed my foot on the brake to release the emergency brake. I heard a pop. The brake pedal immediately went to car floor. I didn’t know what it was initially but quickly realized something was wrong with my brakes when I was on the highway. When I tried to brake the pedal went to the floor and the car did not slow properly. I made it to the subdivision entrance when the low brake fluid indicator light came on. I made it home safely. When I stopped, smelled an odor (I was told it was likely brake fluid). I had it towed to the dealership. It was diagnosed the day after, informing me brake line had broke. I asked what was the cause and possibly wear and tear? he informed a weak spot in the line. I called Lincoln customer relations bc it’s a safety issue whether it is a new or old car under warranty to address my concerns. They explained I would have to pay since a warranty was not in place. As a customer, my car is under 100, 000 miles and I service it routinely. I am more concerned of this being an issue with safety than a warranty being in place. My son or myself could have been in a bad accident sustaining serious injuries with no brakes. The Lincoln rep implied my car was old, which is an insult. It’s only 7 years old. My 22 year old Toyota is still working and the brake line has never broke. I was informed by the service tech it is unusual to see this occur in the back brakes. The brake line/hose broke and the brake fluid leaked out. In my opinion, it’s a defect, durability, and a safety issue regardless of the age of my car. It is a much bigger problem that should be addressed. The customer service rep and her manager were eluding to their extended warranty program and they could not offer financial assistance. I have paid more for services when I feel it’s wear and tear. It is a safety issue with a possible defective part, which I should not be responsible to pay, regardless of a warranty being in place or not. Safety and durability are the bigger issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the brake assist, brake, traction control, and anti-skid warning lights illuminated. The auto-braking system became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the wheel hub, wheel sensor, lower control arm, and ball joint. Additionally, the mechanic informed the contact about several low voltage codes. The battery, alternator, and starter were working as designed, but there was low voltage. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Brake pedal went to the floor causing crash. Inspected by the insurance company. No warning lamps came on.
Have a recall for the emergency brake light coming on due to possible brake line rupture. I took it into the dealership and they told me I needed a battery and the light would go out!!! while the light is still on after 2weeks leaving the dealership. I had an appointment for them to fix the issue with an service loaner to be giving them I was called a day before and they told me a vehicle would not be available cause customers cars had been damaged! now what do that have to do with an safety issue regarding brakes that may cause me and my family to be in an accident? they have not contacted me other than to tell me my extended warranty will pay for it! that means I have to pay a deductible which I had already given $200 previous for that issue and it wasn’t solved.
Tried to contact both the dealer and Ford, no response. Was last November when the recall was announced, why are they dragging their feet?.
Yesterday, December 17, 2020, while backing from a parking space the brakes self-applied, no alarm sounded prior, and while not close to anything. I could let off the accelerator and the brake would release some. When straightened out and driving a short distance down the aisle it happened 2 or 3 more times and gave a red side warning light. Dead stops, accelerator felt hard to push. Happened both when cars were on the side(s) and none close at all. I got to the intersection with no cars close on all 4-sides. When I pulled into the intersection, it braked to a complete stop and refused to move. By playing with throttle and drive/park buttons, I got the car moving, I pulled into an open area and shut the car off, and restarted. I drove home, went through an 8-foot garage door, and parked with no more problems. This all happened in a walmart parking lot and exit lane. Due to the hard braking, if there had been cars behind or approaching a collision would have been possible if the other driver could not react to avoid my car.

Nothing happened yet . . . Trying to sale the unit but cant because the recall has no fix yet.
Unreasonable amount of time for a manufacturer recall repair. Given the severity of this recall for the front brake flex lines the amount of time from notification to current date with no replacement parts available which is still on going. As seniors we feel that our car is very unsafe to drive as we have been told we may not be able to stop the vehicle without warning.

Break fluid completely gone all of a sudden and breaks not functioning. The break went all the way in with out any resistance while driving.
In may and June of 2019 on 2 different occasions, our 2016 Lincoln Mkx ignition turned off on its own without any input by the driver while using cruise-control on a crowded highway going 75 mph! when it occurred, a text message was displayed superimposed over the tachometer that read: caution: ignition turned off. Fortunately, when it turned off, the car automatically shifted into neutral instead of park, which it does automatically when the ignition switch is used to turn the car off! after it shut off, we coasted in neutral without power brakes or power steering while surrounded by mack trucks and other cars. Thank god there was a shoulder on the roadway where we could safely pull over. Before we could attempt to restart the car, we had to coast to a complete stop, put the car in park, depress the brake pedal, and press the ignition button. Had we been in a work-zone w/concrete barricades and no shoulder, we could have been run over/killed by a mack truck and/or other car(s) approaching from behind at high speeds. The service manager at our Lincoln dealership said they have never heard of this occurrence, but we easily found two (2) websites discussing this issue regarding the Mkx. We can only wonder how many people may have already died with no explanation about why they were at a full stop on a busy highway. Because we restarted the car, the service manager said the "error" history in the computer was erased - bad programing! both times our incidents happened, we had been driving about an hour on the highway. The car has been in the shop at the dealership for 2 weeks, and we are still awaiting an explanation and fix. I'm not sure I'll ever feel confident/safe enough to drive it again!.
Brakes grab causing vehicle to skid on wet pavement. Passengers are restrained by seat belts and loose items in vehicle tossed towards front. Will happen under light pedal application even when applied knowing the problem exits. Have almost slid of roadway on curves using extreme caution braking.
There is a serious flaw/design with the way the bar is attached to the brake pedal, also the brake pedal pad is way too small. When I am driving and I need to brake my foot hits the metal bar that supports the brake pedal, which makes it very uncomfortable to stop. On numerous occasions I almost hit the car in front of me due to this flaw. The design was very poorly planned, the bar is also attached to the right outside of the brake pedal in which other times when moving foot from gas pedal to brake your foot can also be blocked from getting to the brake pedal due to the bar that supports the brake pedal.
