Front Seat Power Adjust Problems of Lincoln MKX

The contact owns a 2016 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated while entering the vehicle and attempting to adjust the seat adjuster switch the seat failed to move forward. The contact restarted the vehicle and depressed the seat adjuster button and the seat moved forward but failed to stop. The contact moved forward into the steering wheel and squeezed his leg under the steering wheel. The contact turned off the vehicle for the seat to stop moving. The contact exited the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

A piece of plastic broke on the power seat actuator, allowing the seat to change position unexpectedly, particularly when accelerating. . The manufacturer does not sell the broken power seat actuator separately. Instead, it wants $1100 to replace the entire seat base. The result in that people cannot afford to get this safety item fixed.

The drivers and passenger seats tilt backwards during acceleration (usually hard start). The seats would also tilt forward on hard braking. After some research online, I found a lot of Ford and Lincoln owners complaining about the issue on both low and high mileage cars. It seems to be a common problem on all lincon Mkx and Ford edge. It seems from the comments on various online forums the problem is more common in cars with power seats. I am afraid that with the "play" in the seat tracks, the car would become unsafe during an accident. It seems some Ford dealership are aware of this issue already and consider it "normal" behavior, some are fixing it under warranty. Owners with no warranty are exposed to potentially dangerous defect of the vehicle.

2009 Lincoln Mkx vehicle has driver power seat that is unstable and rocks while driving. This causes an unsafe driving condition that makes the foot fall off the brake pedal when braking. Dealer says this is normal. Another defect is the sound system while in use creates a horrendous sound/bang that sounds like an accident. This causes a loss of driver attention and distraction from traffic. Dealer says this is a defect with no fix.
