I've been smelling gas and I thought it might have been from other cars on the road until today when my car started making a loud noise sounding like it was coming from the passenger front side. It stalled out on me around a month ago for no reason and when I went to park it today I kept smelling gas and noticed it's my vehicle.
This vehicle after 5 miles of driving suddenly lost power and entered what they call limp home mode dropping the speed to 40 mph and then to a crawl into a nearby parking lot. The dealer that repaired my vehicle said this happens to avoid further damage to the engine. There was no warning until after the vehicle had been stopped in the parking lot when the red engine light started flashing on the instrument panel. The car was towed to the local Ford dealership for repairers the repair bill states:" there was a failure of the eec module resulting in the failure of the pcm cranks, 6 coil packs" six spark plugs with a resulting cost of repairs at $683. 47 for the eec module (this is the part that caused the destruction of the pcm cranks and six coil packs) the coil packs $999. 48 for six, spark plugs total 45. 54 for six, a plenum gasket $14. 90 and $447. 50 labor cost to repair vehicle. As an employee of Ford motor company, I got a 10% discount for the parts bringing the total repair cost to a total of $2190. 05 here's my complaint. The eec failed; ok I get that but that part failure caused all the rest of the parts to be destroyed adding the cost of the coil packs, the gasket and additional labor costs. The eec was $ 683. 47 the rest should be Ford motor company responsibility at the least. Ford motor company distributed a technical service bulletin to their dealers about this problem. Ford motor company knows that this problem can occurred and I talked to the mechanic that repaired my car stating to me that he had seen this problem in fusion cars and Ford pickup trucks so this one dealer garage talking to one mechanic that had seen several vehicles do this. There has to be a lot more. This should be a recall.
Albany, GA (walb) - imagine you're on your way to work, when suddenly, you car suddenly becomes engulfed in flames. That's exactly what happened to anita tunstill Tuesday morning while she was driving along roxanna road in radium springs. But when you see what's left of her car, you'll see why its miracle she's alive. It sounded like a dump truck at first, then came a loud noise. "I just heard a crash. A boom. " but what eliza berry heard from inside a roxanna road home was no dump truck. And what do she see? "fire. Just a huge fire. " a huge fire that engulfed tunstall's Lincoln Mkx. The 57-year-old tunstall was behind the wheel of the SUV on her way to work when she noticed smoke coming from the back of her car. Witnesses tried flagging her down, but by that time, flames were shooting up the side. She ran off the road, struck a mail box, a sign, and then skidded across the road leaving a trail of flames, coming to a rest underneath a power line. Rich williams was driving his kids to school when he saw what happened. "I'm driving around the corner and I see the trail of flames and I noticed that car over there was on fire. " not knowing if anyone was trapped inside the burning car, williams and a group of good samaritans, employees at radium springs elementary, jumped into action. "I got out and ran over, and mr. Poole, the gym teacher, and another teacher were over here, and this purse came flying out as it was on fire. This lady dove out and we just dragged her away. " "the car just started popping, engulfed in flames and exploded. " tunstall made out it, in shock, but virtually unharmed. It's a miracle she says, just to be alive. Something she credits to the unselfish acts of others who put their lives in harms way to save hers. It isn't clear what caused tunstill's car to catch fire. We spoke with her by phone and she tells us she would like to personally thank those who came to her rescue, adding that she wouldn't be here without them.
