The rear differential appears to be an issue on these vehicles. 2021-2022 models/vehicles were recalled for having an issue with the rear differential. Fortunately there was not an accident with my vehicle as I was able to determine that it shouldn’t be driven. However, I’m told by the dealership that there are 155 vehicles waiting for the same repair (a rear differential replacement), and that the part to repair it is unavailable. With this information, I can’t imagine how many vehicles are still on the road with this problem. There does not appear to be a recall on older models, nor has this issue been reviewed by the mechanics that work for the company. At the very least, this issue should be reviewed during routine maintenance.

The power steering went completely out while I was driving down the highway. I believe the problem is related to the power steering control module and the electric assist rack and pinion steering. It was the most dangerous situation I ever encountered. I narrowly missed causing an accident. There are several makes of Ford/Lincoln vehicles that have this problem dating back to 2011. The service advance trac displayed, steering assist fault service required displayed, pre collision assist not available displayed, hill assist not available displayed and a few others. They first appeared on Dec. 4th and next appeared around the 28th. The Mkx is currently at joe machens Lincoln in columbia, mo being inspected by the dealership and endurance, my warranty company.
First incident 10-15-2019 (purchased used vehicle 09-30-19) exiting freeway at 55mph and suddenly brakes stopped working( was able to pull aside) then brakes worked normal again. Took vehicle to check breaks and nothing wrong was found. Second incident 02-17-2020 driving son to school at 35mhp brakes stopped working while doing a right turn and ran over sidewalk to avoid hitting vehicle in front. Bumper got a little damage. Brakes check again and nothing was found. Third incident 05-15-2022 driving at 55mph on road and brakes stopped working before trying to stop at red light. Hit cement in middle of the road to avoid crashing. Used emergency brake and bumper was scratched. Turn on and off truck and brakes work normal again. June 22-2022 took to mechanic after being inspected at several places and found nothing wrong. Replaced brakes, front shocks and fluid. November 23-2022 driving on freeway at 70mph. Brakes failed again and almost crash with eighteen wheeler. Was able to hit the brakes with all my strength and merge into honking traffic to pull over on the freeway emergency lane. (could have been fatal) this incidents indicated are major but the problem has been in occurrence on and off randomly and frequently.

While driving, there is an electrical issue that is causing warning alarms to go off for hill-descend control, advance-trac traction control, etc. During this time, there is also a complete loss of power steering and making the vehicle almost impossible to turn. The first incident happened on November 26, 2021 around 7pm were I was able to stop prior to hitting a building. I shut the vehicle off and back on again and the power steering was now working. I was unable to get Lincoln to tow the vehicle because it was "too far" from the roadside tow drivers service area. On the same day, I drove it the rest of the way home but upon exciting the highway around 7:30pm, the power steering again went out and I was able to stop the vehicle prior to going into the ditch next to the road. I had it towed to a Lincoln dealer in wixom, michigan but over the weekend could not locate the vehicle and at that point I was talking to an advisor with Lincoln. They told her it would be at least 5 weeks before they could even look at the vehicle so per her recommendation, it was towed to lafontaine Lincoln in flushing, michigan. It was in the shop until Wednesday, December 15th. I was informed they changed out the steering rack and pinion but was given no paperwork because they told me it was all covered under warranty. On December 21, 2021 while driving on linden road in fenton, michigan, it did the same thing with my wife driving and resulted in a compete loss of power steering and she went into the oncoming lane around a bend before she was able to get the vehicle stopped. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic. I will be having it towed again to the dealership. Luckily for me, these incidents have only resulted in near-miss situations but this is a major issue and will result in serious accidents if it hasn't already.
Vehicle was driving down highway on two lane road around mountain higher elevation area and just randomly wheel jerked and turned on its own and my brakes did not want to work when they were working just fine a few seconds prior and I would not control steering wheel and I heard car acceleration goes more power which I did not do and it did on my own causing me to hit guardrail and break through it and down a cliff smashing into a tree on driver side door making me trapped in car when airbag did not deploy from steering wheel and explosion of chards of mental and glass getting in my face and hand.

Steering locked & power stopped. Interior dash lights remained on. Reversed out of a parking spot, shifted to drive & steering locked. I was barely rolling forward. Braked, put on flashers, shifted to park & restarted. A couple of days earlier it happened, but twice ? !.

While driving the vehicle and approaching a stop sign the vehicle just shut off on its own. I lost all engine power, brakes, and steering capabilities. , etc with no warning. Luckily no other vehicles were near me at the time. I was able to roll backwards in neutral to a somewhat safe location off the road. Several days after that it happened again. I was in a parking lot and had just started the vehicle and then it warned low oil pressure and then just shut off on its own. I checked the oil and it's not low. Oil level is perfect. After some quick online research I found many similar complaints from other Lincoln owners. Unexpected engine shut off while driving and with no warning. Scary and very unsafe to say the least. I contacted the dealership where I bought the vehicle and they said this is the first time they heard of this issue. Please advise. Thank you.
On i35, driving 70, vehicle suddenly lost acceleration completely and we were able to coast to shoulder, car still running. Warning light low oil pressure came on as well as sydtem trans alert. When put in gear would go 10 yards, would quit.
Vehicle information system displays drive control malfunction have served.
My vehicle's power shut down without any warning on busy city street (3 lane road). I was unable to steer or brake. I had to coast off the road until car stopped. Then I put it into park. It restarted and drove fine after the restart. Very scary. Thankful I wasn't driving 70 mph on busy interstate. Throttle body replaced recently as engine had been bucking and wasn't accelerating when gas pedal was depressed.
I'm experiencing some linkage of fluid from underneath my car that has to do with my front end and I have taken it to the dealership and they can't fix it but it needs to be replaced and the cost is way to much. Please help! and there is no given reason why!.
So far this has happened now 4 times. While driving my care at 35 mph, my car will lose all power as well as the steering wheel will lock. My car will began to go in its own direction and I have to bring the car to a complete stop in the middle of traffic, put it in park and turn it off and start it back up again. I have two children and losing not only the power of the vehicle but also the steering is very concerning. I have contacted Lincoln and they have let me know that this is a valid recall for over 83,000 vehicles made in the same year but it is not on my vehicles recall list. I am very concerned about this.
Upon entering an on-ramp to the thruway, the driver side lower ball joint was completely gone, disabling the vehicle while my wife was accelerating. The wheel came almost completely off the vehicle. I'm not sure where or how the ball joint came off. My infant son was in the back seat, had the vehicle been going thruway speed, this incident could have been deadly.

2016 Lincoln Mkx - fwd- loses balance when accelerated. Its wobbles/ swirls when stepped on the gas on a city street or on a highway. When we brought the car in, Lincoln dealership services foreman, adviser and director claimed its their Mkx fwd normal characteristics. The dealership did not disclose this defective design at the time of purchasing. There are no fixes, and the Mkx awd does not have this problem/characteristics. We have contact the corporate office and the manager said they trusted their services engineers that its the normal characteristics of the Mkx awd. Both the adviser and the corporate manager said for us to report to our insurance company if we got into an accident because of this defective design. We bought a very expensive car, but unable to use its abilities, because it is unsafe to accelerate. Who would buy a very expensive car and afraid to step on the gas? Lincoln needs to disclose the Mkx fwd- defective designs that they claimed to be the normal characteristics to their customers at the time of buying. Or they need to stop putting the eco boost eng on the fwd Mkx cars.

My Mkx has stalled over the years and the dealer says that's normal. Well, for the first time, I stalled on a hill in a parking lot and my steering locked and brakes didn't work. As soon as I realized I stalled and slammed my brakes, tried to steer away from the car behind me, it was too late for the emergency brake. I slammed into a business associate's SUV that was parked and we both have about 3k worth of damage.
When driving the car shut off and lost total power. Lost steering, braking, and engine while driving down the road at 50 + miles per an hour.

Near the end of my daily hour long commute home I was coming up to a stop sign, as I was decelerating up to the stop sign, the low oil pressure light came on, the steering seize up, the accelerator failed to function, and the braking was sluggish. I was luckily able to steer to the side of the road. I put the vehicle in park, pressed the power button to turn the car off and the car turned off. I turned the car back on as normal and all systems appeared to function as if nothing had happened. I brought the car in for service and they informed me the computer did not register any faults, errors, or issues. This is concerning, because if this problem had occurred on the highway at highway speeds and I were to lose acceleration and steering control, I would not be able to type this report. The dealer service technicians are unable to locate the issue because it was not recorded.
Brakes activate when turning and I pushing the gas pedal one year after I purchased this car , I noticed the brakes would active when I am making a a right turn. It was either raining or beginning to snow. The car would brake as I was making a turn while I giving it gas to turn. Happened at least 3 times while I was turning on a main road. This could have been a life threatening event. Imagine a car coming at you and your gas pedal is not responding while at the same time your car is braking. A very scary scenario. I took it to the dealer. They said brakes need calibration and that I needed new brakes. I said sure. I asked is that normal for a car to do that when brakes wear out . They said no and tested the & found no issues. I paid for the brake replacements. 3 months go by and the same thing. Took back to dealer and they couldn't duplicate but the brakes were fine. I stressed the problem of moisture( rain & snow) when this occurs. This occurs when I first start driving the car under those conditions. Happens once and then I am fine for the of the drive. This keeps happening to me. I have contacted the Lincoln headquarters & all I hear is take it to the dealer. But no solution. I even found people with similar problems on google and printed them & showed to the dealer. I did not get any help. All I got was that we cant duplicate it. . On June 15, 16 and 17 2014 this problem has occurred 6 different times. I will contracting the dealer soon. This is a very scary situation.
