2 Suspension problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/27/2024

The rear differential appears to be an issue on these vehicles. 2021-2022 models/vehicles were recalled for having an issue with the rear differential. Fortunately there was not an accident with my vehicle as I was able to determine that it shouldn’t be driven. However, I’m told by the dealership that there are 155 vehicles waiting for the same repair (a rear differential replacement), and that the part to repair it is unavailable. With this information, I can’t imagine how many vehicles are still on the road with this problem. There does not appear to be a recall on older models, nor has this issue been reviewed by the mechanics that work for the company. At the very least, this issue should be reviewed during routine maintenance.

3 Suspension problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 12/12/2022

I have spent numerous (more than 3 major problems) for example, a lot of dollars fixing water pump. The design is messed up where they place the water pump. Thousands in labor. The electric driver control malfunction and tire pressure is always lit. This occurred on drive home from brake recall fix. The engine stalls and also leaks. The seat moves sometimes without me wanting it to. The emergency brake slams on and stops and locks the car when in drive or reverse. Lincoln has been zero help and gave false promises.

4 Suspension problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/23/2022

First incident 10-15-2019 (purchased used vehicle 09-30-19) exiting freeway at 55mph and suddenly brakes stopped working( was able to pull aside) then brakes worked normal again. Took vehicle to check breaks and nothing wrong was found. Second incident 02-17-2020 driving son to school at 35mhp brakes stopped working while doing a right turn and ran over sidewalk to avoid hitting vehicle in front. Bumper got a little damage. Brakes check again and nothing was found. Third incident 05-15-2022 driving at 55mph on road and brakes stopped working before trying to stop at red light. Hit cement in middle of the road to avoid crashing. Used emergency brake and bumper was scratched. Turn on and off truck and brakes work normal again. June 22-2022 took to mechanic after being inspected at several places and found nothing wrong. Replaced brakes, front shocks and fluid. November 23-2022 driving on freeway at 70mph. Brakes failed again and almost crash with eighteen wheeler. Was able to hit the brakes with all my strength and merge into honking traffic to pull over on the freeway emergency lane. (could have been fatal) this incidents indicated are major but the problem has been in occurrence on and off randomly and frequently.

5 Suspension problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 08/12/2022

I have had fairly issues with overheating and have had several repairs done including: 12/29/2019 - radiator fan assembly and electric fan motor replacement 10/02/2021 - replace thermostat and gasket & replace coolant recovery tank 8/9/2022 - installed module, control, sensors and fuel filler (all done with regards to presumably fixing the overheating and rpm fluctuation while overheating) I paid $3k for the August 2022 repairs and they told me they could not replicate the issue but believe that the repairs are related to the problems I am experiencing. I use my car to drive to periodically drive to another town (60 miles away) and then to drive to the airport for work (about 25 miles). After August, I took my car on the 60 mile drive and 30 miles in, the car started overheating. I called the Ford dealership and they told me to check the radiator (it was full and slightly bubbling). The idea of driving a vehicle that is not safe (not going to make it to my destination after repairs intended to do so) is terrible. When I got back home (terrified after having to drive the same car back 60 miles later that evening), I took the car back to the same Ford dealership. After a couple of days, they told me they think it is the internal water pump. When I asked them if that would guarantee the fix, they said no because no codes are showing up and there are no other signs of overheating (so it should be the internal water pump). This does not seem right to me. The car has electronic sensors everywhere and the dealership put me back on the road with a car that started to overheat within 30 miles.

6 Suspension problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 09/08/2021

Rear end - rear differential I took car in many many times because of a strange noise it was making and they kept telling me nothing is wrong, well now my rear end sounds like it is falling apart. They gave me my car back and told me parts are on a national backorder. No warning lights in the car are on, nor ever came on. My car was serviced regularly by the Lincoln dealership, bob ferrando in girard, PA. I only drive to work and store so little mileage. I am just at 64,000 miles and it is a 2013. Dealership told me that they also have a 2016 Lincoln in the shop with the same problem. I am reporting this before any accident occurs. Dealership gm has lied to me saying the head of service is looking into this and he will call me. I waited and waited then I called him and he said that the gm never talked to him once about my car or service.

10 Suspension problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 02/10/2017

I purchased my Lincoln Mkx 2013 new from sutton Ford. The tires on the car at the time were pirelli scorpion tires. Within less than year from tire exploded from the side wall while on my way to work. No one was hurt. However, I had to replace the tire. Less than a month later two other tires began to leak with report initially that it was the 20" chrome alloy wheel which was malfunctioning. The remaining four tires and wheels were replaced less than a year later I was called a dealer close to work where I had taken the car for oil change and to report rumbling when I was driving. I received a call from that dealership stating the car was "unsafe to drive" there issue with essentially all the tires with side wall rupture impending on one and remaining three with severe compromise. These tires were less than a year old. I had to have the car towed to a local facility for repair. My extended warrantly only paid for 75 dollars of the tow. Which was 100 dollars for me. I had four new goodyear tires put on the car and drove home that evening . The next morning we awoke to find two of the tires were flat. I had to have a second tow to the repair shop and thetechnician there reported a defect within my wheels.

11 Suspension problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 12/03/2016

2016 Lincoln Mkx - fwd- loses balance when accelerated. Its wobbles/ swirls when stepped on the gas on a city street or on a highway. When we brought the car in, Lincoln dealership services foreman, adviser and director claimed its their Mkx fwd normal characteristics. The dealership did not disclose this defective design at the time of purchasing. There are no fixes, and the Mkx awd does not have this problem/characteristics. We have contact the corporate office and the manager said they trusted their services engineers that its the normal characteristics of the Mkx awd. Both the adviser and the corporate manager said for us to report to our insurance company if we got into an accident because of this defective design. We bought a very expensive car, but unable to use its abilities, because it is unsafe to accelerate. Who would buy a very expensive car and afraid to step on the gas? Lincoln needs to disclose the Mkx fwd- defective designs that they claimed to be the normal characteristics to their customers at the time of buying. Or they need to stop putting the eco boost eng on the fwd Mkx cars.

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Extremely loud bangs, like gunshots, seem like from front edge of sunroof, repeating about every 10 seconds, several times per incident. Has happened several times over the past 24 months (2015--2017). So far, the glass has not broken. Vehicle is nearly always parked in an outside parking lot with ignition turned off when it happens. However, twice it has occurred while driving straight at moderate speed on city streets. Sliding headliner under sunroof has always been closed during these incidents. Note: the required date typed below into your standard format report, 01/01/2016, is meaningless.
