I purchased a 2017 Lincoln Mkz select which has been a continuous source of mechanical problems. After recently having a new engine installed, the vehicle has now developed significant transmission issues, making it unsafe and difficult to drive. Despite being sold this car under the assumption it was reliable, I am struggling with costly repairs and reduced functionality, effectively driving a “lemon. ” I believe the vehicle’s condition and recurring failures qualify it for protection under consumer lemon laws or warranties, and I am seeking resolution or compensation due to these defects that have severely impacted the vehicle’s usability and my safety.

The vehicle transmission shift is controlled by buttons to the right of the dashboard. The letters identify power on/off, r, dr. , etc. . The identifying imprints for each shift within a short time are erased, making it impossible to readily identify and engage in the appropriate gear or command. This poses a hazard when approaching a difficult traffic situation, when parking, or a safety issue when the power button is mistakenly turned off, when the reverse button is pressed when you are expecting to engage into drive. It's also important to note that the vehicle safety break is engaged through the transmission posing another safety issue.

The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Driving on a city street all of the sudden warning lights come abs, traction control, giant wrench, p/brake light, service advancetrac. Brake pedal all the way to the floor, I blew a stop sign, as car was slowing down, but than just rolled thru the intersection. Had to use a parking brake to come to a complete stop when I was looking for a safe spot to pull over. Had to replace hydraulic control module and abs module.

Wrench apoears and car suddenly goes in limp mode while driving.
Carvana states "thank you for taking the time to email us about your recent vehicle purchase! carvana takes pride in the vehicles that we provide and sell to every customer. Per our standards, we complete a 150 point inspection of every vehicle however this was not the case. I had so many issues from transmission failure, speakers not working, speed issues with car not accelerating to tires not being the correct ones so I would slide on raining days and almost crash on 3 occasions.

I fully stopped in a parking place where I use to go every Monday to pick up kids from a dancing school. After I fully stopped and try to put the clutch on p the car accelerated by itself. I went trough a building and as I tried to control the car I was trying to put in p and I was not able. I kept my foot on the brake and tried to stabilize the car. . Eventually the car ended in a ditch and I was able to exit immediately. The air begs opened only after I exit the car. I was in complete shock and I was taken to a local hospital by the rescue squad. I asked my insurance to keep the completely damaged car to be inspected by Lincoln inspectors since the car had 2 problems 1. Accelerated when fully stopped 2 air begs did not open during the crash with the building my insurance chubb wrote to Lincoln company but until today no one responded or inspected the damaged car. I was lucky the kids were still in class, I could have heard many of them if I would have been a few minutes later. I request an investigation of the car sincerely.
Collision warning alert sounded, lights flashed and vehicle automatically applied braking as if a front end collision was imminent when traveling on the pennsylvania turnpike without any cars in the proximity of my car. At the time, I was dring and braking to reduce the speed from the posted 70 miles per hour to the new speed zone of 55 miles per hour.

Car rolls on its own without depressing brake or engaging any gear. Vehicle has done this about 5 times in past 6 months and twice in the last 6 weeks. Car is very dangerous at "any speed" since it "runs" on its own. Ford should rename this Mkz hybrid vehicle either: dmd for "driving miss daisy" or uas for "unsafe at zero" puf for "pure unadulterated fiction" Ford has lied about car performance (advertised 45 mpg city + highway for both 2013 & 2014 hybrid models) when I only get about 60% of that - 28 mpg (documented) in order to gain market share (hybrids esp. Lexus). Ford blames its own wind tunnel tests for overstated mpg (maybe tested with hurricane sandy at their back). Now, this car drives itself, a nice safety feature huh ? and, Ford never issued me any recall on its unique "invisible chauffer driven" vehicle.
When driving the car it will shift from drive to s1, s2, s3, s4, it will decrease in speed, like a hesitation and slowing down. I am afraid if this constantly happens some one will hit me in the rear. , causing a serious accident. We have taken this car in twice for repairs, still isn't fixed. First, OH its need to be put on the computer and recalibrated. Second, after test driving the dealership service department couldn't assess the cause and it didn't occur while they did a test drive. This is a serous defect and danger to me, my family and others on the highway. It needs to be investigated and repaired. This is still occurring while driving daily. Seriously thinking about returning this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2012 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle shook violently and went into limp mode. The contact also stated that while making a turn at an unknown speed, the vehicle accelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they could not duplicate the cause of failure. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 1,000.
Driving at 35 mph, tried to slow down for a stop light. Car would not slow, brakes were ineffective against the motor that was stuck accelerating. I put car in nuetral ( as car engine raced) and coasted into a business parking lot. I shut off car and restarted. Engine revs were normal. I put car back into drive and drove back to work, the rpm's were surging, but not out of control this time.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Lincoln Mkz. While attempting to park at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact applied the brakes but the vehicle did not respond. The vehicle crashed into a brick wall causing damage to the front end of the vehicle. The passenger sustained bruising and the vehicle was towed to a local auto body shop. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Kmj.
The brake and gas pedals on my Lincoln Mkz are located so close to each other and at the same height that I have twice experienced acceleration instead of braking when putting on the brakes because I did not move my foot enough to clear the gas pedal. I have inquired to my dealer about making an adjustment to the brakes pedal height or spacing but was advised that this could not be done. This design is an "accident waiting to happen" and I am lucky that in both instances I was able to react in time to avoid one. If this has not already been brought to the attention of the manufacturer, NHTSA should do so before someone is seriously hurt.
The contact owns a 2009 Lincoln Mkz. The contact stated that when accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The failure recurred ten times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer numerous times for diagnosis. The technician was unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified and they requested a black box data recorder to be installed in the vehicle. The device was installed in the vehicle and it detected a failure with the brakes and the throttle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,195. Updated 5/23/13 updated 06/10/2013.
The contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Mkz. While driving 30 mph the vehicle accelerated. The contact attempted to engage the brake pedal; however, the vehicle did not slow down. The contact was forced to use the emergency brake and the vehicle slowed down slightly and did not stop completely. The contact made a right turn, engaged the emergency brake again and forced the gear shift into park to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a Lincoln dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and stated that there was nothing wrong with it. The dealer wanted the contact to ride with him during a test drive and the contact didn't feel safe in the vehicle. The contact no longer wants the vehicle. The manufacturer should be responsible for any damages that might occur while driving the vehicle. The failure mileage was 14,400. Updated 03/04/10 updated 09/28/10.
