2 Body problem of the 2014 Lincoln Mkz Hybrid

Failure Date: 03/29/2019

Panoramic roof assembly uses plastics trim pieces on exterior that delaminate overtime. They are only used in the panoramic assembly ( front and two side assembly for track system in rear of vehicle). This car is washed normally and should not show that much wear. If this was powder coated like the rest of the vehicle. There would be no color issue or delaminate.

3 Body problem of the 2012 Lincoln Mkz Hybrid

Failure Date: 03/12/2019

Shortly after I had the takata recall fixed, I had the following things happen to the vehicle: interior driver's door handle will not operate. Prior to that the driver's window would not operate. Mysteriously, the window began operating, then the interior door handle failed. The vehicle was stationary when each incident occurred.

4 Body problem of the 2012 Lincoln Mkz Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/27/2018

Failure of driver's inside door handle: when attempting to exit my car, the door handle's mechanism suddenly failed and I was unable to egress the vehicle and I came close to panicking. So I was forced to exit via the passenger door which was very difficult climbing over the center console. After talking to the Lincoln assistant service manager and researching the internet, I quickly learned that fords, including Lincolns, have an extremely high failure rate of this part. He said that the alternative to climbing out the passenger's door was to lower the driver's window and open the door by pulling on the outside handle which can also be a difficult maneuver. But whether an emergency or not, that is certainly not the first thing that comes to mind. Had I been in an accident or the car caught fire requiring immediate exit, in all likelihood, I would have likely died. Because of this frequent part failure and the likelihood of injury or death, I find it very difficult to fathom that your agency hasn't issued an urgent recall on this part.

5 Body problem of the 2013 Lincoln Mkz Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

The panoramic sunroof glass is separating or delaminating. The glass is developing air pockets between the layers of glass and its coatings. Larger air pockets developed first around the edges, and now smaller bubbles have developed throughout the entire sunroof. New bubbles continue to develop. In addition, the black color of the glass surrounding the sunroof area appears to be a film layer inside the glass. This film is peeling or separating inside the glass. This is a 2013 model car. The bubbling or delaminating problem began in late 2017 and advanced quickly. This car is garaged during evening hours at home, and garaged during work hours everyday at the office. I live in mild northern California weather and the car is rarely exposed to any adverse weather.

6 Body problem of the 2013 Lincoln Mkz Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/12/2017

The panoramic sunroof is delaminating. And area along the left edge of the sunroof, on the drivers side of the car just above the drivers head, is beginning to delaminate on the interior surface. There appears to be a thick film of some sort that is bubbling from the edge toward the center of the roof glass. The car garaged indoors day and night.

Attempted to get out of the car and the drivers side door would not open. Shut the car off, turned it back on. Hit the lock and unlock button several times and still could not get out of the vehicle. Eventually had to open it from the outside.
