Ten problems related to wheel bolts have been reported for the 1998 Lincoln Navigator. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1998 Lincoln Navigator. While traveling eastbound on the ohio turnpike the right rear tire broke off and went off the north shoulder and came to rest in the center median. (ohio traffic crash report).
We have had our Navigator into the dealership a total of 8 times in the last 3 years. The following had to be replaced: sunroof, groaning noise from beneath the hood (in 4 times for this still not corrected), cd player replaced, sterio replaced, heating elements both front seat replaced 2 times each, incorrect lug nuts, incorrect tire wrench, shaking in stering @ highway speeds-still not corrected, lift system broken-not fixed, hood latch would not release, fuse blowen 3 times for ac outlets, check suspension light on, check engine light on, rear turn sigal out, passenger window catches, incorrect spair tire. (tiresize: p265/70r17).
Truck started to wobble, due to th right passenger wheel, the lug nuts broken and all the lug nuts so loose that they could be remove by hand. Lug nuts can be replaced and found out that all four wheels were loose.
Recall 98v095000/ lugs: nuts, and bolts. Vehicle was repaired. After the repairs, lugs broke again. Dealer is repairing the problem again. Owner traded car in after paying for many costly repairs that were not able to correct the problem.
Prior to this had the all tires rotated and found out later that the lugs: nuts were loose. While driving on highway at approximately 65mph, all of the sudden heard a loud noise on the rear passenger's side . Vehicle jumped up into the air and back ontothe ground. Contacted the dealer in the process of making necessary repairs, but was told about another recall that the nuts need to be retorqued at 110 lbs, and that they are not under warranty.
Lug nuts failed.
Consumer has been waiting on dealer to replace lugs nuts. Sent July 14, 1998; dealer still informing consumer that they cannot get the parts.
1998 Lincoln Navigator with wheel separation problems customer the consumer stated the failure was a result of premature metal fatigue. The consumer stated he was never informed of a recall regarding the wheel/lugs. (recall 98v095000).
Lug nuts recalled for tightening, however not for replacement (inadequate recall) 98v-095. Mjs.
Vehicle rolled over four times when wheel seperated due to lug nut failures. Occurance could have been avoided had Ford issued recall noticed in a more timely fashion.
