Accelerator Stuck Problems of Lincoln Navigator

The contact owns a 2004 Lincoln Navigator. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph the accelerator pedal became stuck causing the vehicle to accelerate. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor had it been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure and current mileage was approximately 80,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Accelerator stuck full open when putting in reverse to back out of my carport. My foot was on the brake and the vehicle (2006 Navigator) burnt rubber for two feet before I cut the ignition. The dealer checked and found no discrepancy on file or with the vehicle.

Consumer states accelerator pedal is sticking, causing vehicle to lose control. Dealer notified. Vehicle has unexpectedly accelerated and or stuck in passing gear over 12 times. On July 14, the failure occurred while in reverse. The remaining times in forward while approaching speeds of 90 to 95mph. The engine would continue to "rev" up for no reason. The consumer's only resolution to this problem is to put it in neutral and turn the key off and back on to control the steering and have brakes power to stop the vehicle. The transmission had started making a "clunking" noise when switching from neutral to either drive or reverse.

When pushing down on the accelerator in a passing mode, the accelerator pedal stuck in the open position without pedal application for a moment then released by itself. Dealer could not duplicate problem.
