One problem related to trunk lid has been reported for the 1996 Lincoln Town Car. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The trunk was ice covered and the automatic opening mechanism opened the trunk only one half of an inch. Driver attempted to raise lid by placing fingers of both hands under the lip of lid and lifting. Lifting effort caused self closing feature to function and lid closed on both hands, causing severe pain and the inability to extricate her hands.
