Two problems related to steering gear box have been reported for the 1998 Lincoln Town Car. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Two bolts in the steering box had become completely broken. They appeared to have not been tightened properly by the factory, the lock tights were visible on the thread, and portions of the broken bolts were extracted from the gear box.
