The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to depress the brake pedal to the floorboard in order for the vehicle to respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. While approaching a stop at approximately 12-15 mph, the vehicle accelerated on its own. The failure only occurs when braking and has happened four times since December of 2008. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they kept if for five days, but they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was returned and seemed to be repaired. On June 17, 2009, the failure recurred. The dealer stated that the master cylinder failed or an oil leak was present. They further stated that the failure could not be corrected until it could be duplicated. The vehicle will be taken to the repair shop for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 35,000 and current mileage was 37,507.
