4 inches of rainwater in the rear passenger floor. Via the net this is a common problem with all divisions of Ford's luxury cars 1998 to 2007. Youtube has several how to videos with 5,000 to 15,000 hits (keywords: Lincoln Town Car water leak). The sheer number of video hits gives insight to how vast this problem is. The gasket that Ford makes for these cars deteriorates. The leak starts slow and " mold spreads until someone sees inches of water in the rear passenger floor. My buddy followed repair video directions. Now the right rear is nice and dry to the touch*. Still waiting for the front to dry out*. Now the drivers side front and rear floor is wet. My shoes are slipping off the brake and gas pedals. I've only seen a few videos with drivers side leaks. Ford should recall all their luxury car models. Mold and your foot slipping off of a brake could prove fatal. So far I've learned via the net that water enters via an o ring for speedometer and or hood open cable. Next is google and yahoo. *I have no idea how much rust if any has occurred under my floor boards and if there is any chance carbon monoxide inhalation might be looming. I hear the only sure way to remove the water is to remove the seats then the entire carpet, attend to the rust if any and allow the carpets to sit in the sun for who knows how long. Ford should recall these vehicles as far back as they made these cheap gaskets.
