When the foot was on the brake in stopped position, the accelator kept revving at high level. The only way to correct it the problem was to turn off the vehicle.

My 07 Lincoln only has around 80,000 miles on it and has water leaks causing water to pool in the floor boards thereby causing the potential for rust, electrical issues and the hazards that could result therefrom. A quick online search will reveal to you that these leaks are incredibly common and very well known among Lincoln owners and dealers alike (very, very common problem due to manufacturer defects) but Ford refuses to do anything about it. Given how widespread this problem is it seems that the right thing to do would be for Ford to issue a recall and repair these things. Problem appears to affect 99'-11 models. Thank you.

Unexpected engine run away. On multiple occasions the engine has gone to max rpm as the car is being shifted into gear. Only the fact that I had my foot firmly on the brake pedal kept the car from moving. The brakes kept the front wheels locked but the rear wheel or wheels were able to spin. The vehicle has been stationary every time this has occurred. The date below is just for one time. This has occurred approximately 8 times since I bought the vehicle on July 17, 2018.
Loss of am reception. Our local Ford / Lincoln dealership tells me that there is a TSB on my vehicle. TSB 03-23-07 published November 18/03. It is supposed to be a revised hidden antenna module with a built-in signal booster and different wiring hookup to the rear glass. The kit part number is 4w1z-19g323-aa. According to the service manager since it is a TSB and not a recalls. . . I have to pay for the part (approx. $170) and 2. 9hrs of labor. Since it is a defect I think the repairs should be free.

Seatbelt / airbag warning light indicator is warning about either faulty sensor or faulty belt tensioner. Began while in parked poison and continues periodically when in motion, regardless of speed. Cost to repair is exorbitant, nearly half the value of the car and is not guaranteed to work is last. The airbags will likely not worth in the event of accident but no way to tell unless there is an accident. Serious fault regarding required safety equipment with this make/model year. Mileage is 170,100. Also, the passenger side floorboard, especial in backseat become saturated when it rains. Floor plugs are intact, the water is entering from poor design feature where the windshield/engine meet and supposedly slow for water to be channeled away from engine to ground but is actually channelling along the side into the passenger cabin footwell. Again, this design flaw is a known issue from manufacturer. This is a health and safety issue, especially in warm climates due to mold growing as a result of water pooling in cabin. As this car was garaged kept and not used often until the past 6 months, the water issue wasnt known until first rain this spring, 2016. Car was in open air, uncovered driveway and not in use for 2 weeks after said rain. When owner opened car door, she was hit with overwhelming stench of mold. She located the source and water had visibly saturated floor, rug and padding underneath. Black and green mold had grown extensively in backseat passenger floorboard and under front passenger seat.
The air bag light illuminated. Ford/Lincoln dealer reports driver's seat belt pretensioner is faulty. There is a possibility, the air bags will not deploy. . . . . . . Updated 11/18/15.
3 of 4 interior door latches broke in normal use when attempting to exit the vehicle and the part is integral to the door panel. Ford dealer says the parts are no longer available and Ford has provided no other means of repair. Exiting the vehicle may not be possible in an emergency and may pose a serious threat to life & safety.

I was doing 65 on the 60 freeway in city of walnut CA. And all of a sudden my car began to accelerate full speed, I looked at my dash just to see if cruise control was on, "which it was not" so I pressed the brake but the car kept on accelerating so I had to hold the brake down as hard as I could but despite doing that I was doing between 60 and 70 mph, I could not even get the car to go less than 60 mph no matter what, my exit came and I could not even get off by this time I had to swerve around cars because I could not slow down I was already panicking I really thought I was going to die finally after a few more seconds the car stopped accelerating and I was in control I need help to have this corrected as soon as possible please. Thank you.
The car was idling as I was preparing to leave my employer's parking lot. My foot was on the brake. At the moment I shifted the car into drive, the engine raced and lunged forward. With my foot firmly on the brake, the rear tires screeched, but the brakes kept the car from moving more than several feet. . Within several seconds, I was able turn off the key and return the shift lever to park. I tried to duplicate the problem in a safe area, but could not. My foot was not on both pedals (brake and accelerator) simultaneously as the engine was as idling when I shifted into drive. There is no floor mat to interfere with normal operation. The brake pedal was in a "raised" position- a feature of the car. I was not familiar with the "sudden acceleration" problem other drivers had reported previously, but I did read about problems associated with the raised brake pedal and the close proximity of the accelerator pedal (within the past few days). Before researching the possible cause of this incident, I thought the problem might have been associated with the linkage of the two pedals. Now, I'm convinced the issue will not be an easy fix.
As part of the recent Ford steering recall, an emergency inspection was done on 11/18/13 at 69,104 and declared safe to drive. On 3/18/14 driving to the dealer to have recall work performed, the steering column locked-up solid at the turn was made entering the dealers property. A repair was done replacing the lower shaft only as shown in picture #1. Then less than 14 months later a repeat failure of the upper shaft assembly shown in picture #2. There was no secondary recall issued, so a search by VIN showed no outstanding recall, and the dealers insistent ed this was not a recall issue, but. It was, as the complete upper and lower shaft should have been replaced during the repair. The unpredictable locking of the steering wheel poses a serious injury/death risk. All vehicles part of the initial recall should be inspected to insure the repair was don completely and correctly. Pictures available on request (can't seem to attach n this form) also see previous for filed when first failure occurred despite inspection that declared vehicle safe to drive.
My 1997 Lincoln Town Car signature series caught fire while parked in the garage. The car had not been driven for approximately 48 hours prior to the fire. About 02:00 hrs on the morning of the 29th December 2014 I was wakened by a loud popping sound. When I investigated I found my garage totally engulfed by fire. It took the fire department over two hours to extinguish the fire; for it had spread to the other vehicle parked in the garage - 2013 Jeep moab and to all of the tools and materials stored in the garage. The fire marshall and the arson investigator stated that the ignition point for the fire was under the hood in the Lincoln, on the drivers side and close to the fire wall. It resulted in the total loss of both cars, the garage structure and all contents of said structure.

The drivers inside door handle became unsecured from door panel. Unable to open door from inside vehicle. I took the vehicle to the dealer this morning and was informed the part is not available. There were no options given, except that the part would have to come from a salvage yard. I expressed my concern over the safety of this vehicle, should a collision or fire occur, the occupant would not be able to get out. I took the vehicle to my mechanic, and he is going to secure the handle tomorrow, so I can open the door from the inside.
We have a 2005 Lincoln Town Car with 87000 miles when it rains the rear r floor gets a lot of water. The water comes from a defective seal in the ac/heat system ? probably around the fan mount for the heating /cooling. And ? more trouble ? when we backed out of the driveway in wet weather ? the car froze in place ? as if we had hit a wall. It would still go forward. Happened half a dozen times ? always raining. Except one rainy Sunday, just out of the driveway leaving for church, it froze driving forward. We took the car to bob davidson Ford paid them 'diagnostic fees' - $250 for the [2] separate problems. La verne gave us the report: the leak repair would cost $600 ? and, more of a challenge, the tranny, which showed: ?transmission internal fault 150? needs replacement [about $4000 parts plus labor] the local aamco owner said this model Lincoln ? for 2005 [and the 5 other years of the same design ? is notable for considerable water problems. He had not heard of water causing the tranny problems and he asked me to get the diagnostic codes from bob davidson. Here it gets interesting. ?fault 150? is generic for transmission. The shop testing ? well, there was no code. There was no report of a defect from the car's on-board computer. No fault codes at all. Just an indication, told us ?the accumulator was leaking or there is a binding concern? when they took the car out for a test drive connected to a diagnostic tool. And from this bob davidson is able to tell us we need to replace a $4000 transmission. Plus labor, of course. We paid $120 to a leak doctor repair tech to fix the water leak on the engine side of the firewall. The water leak seems to be resolved and the tranny locking up problem has not happened again. Even when it rains. Any help you can give on this will be greatly appreciated.
For no reason, the front door on the driver's side will not open from the inside. You have to roll down the window and open it with the outside door handle.
After I start the vehicle and fasten the driver seat belt, the vehicle generates a series to 5 chime sounds and then pauses for a few seconds, then it repeats the 5 chime sounds. The set of 5 chime sounds are repeated a total of 5 times totaling 25 chime sounds. Additionally, the chime pattern sounds again exactly as before after the vehicle is in use for about 30 minutes, then the chime sequence repeats itself approximately every 30 minutes thereafter. There are no warning indicator lights shown in the dashboard, and neither are there any airbag indicator lights on before or after the chimes begin to sound.
The ignition switch gives sparks and could ignite the car. Ford admits other 1988 Lincoln Town Cars have a ignition switch problem and replaces them. They have not included my VIN on the defect and replacement list; however, it is defective and could ignite a fire at any time.
On the 2006 Lincoln Town Car signature limited, the accelerator and brake pedals are adjustable. The pedals are close together, therefore, leaving little space between the brake and accelerator. When trying to stop, the brake and, unfortunately, accelerator pedals were both being pressed at the same time. This has almost caused accidents when trying to stop for my spouse and me. This has been a problem since the car was purchased in Feb 2006. The vehicle was not diagnosed or serviced. On June 3, 2014, I was leaving my driveway and saw a tractor-trailer coming down the road. Trying to stop, I pressed the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time. I pressed on the brake harder to stop; however, I was also pressing on the accelerator harder. This caused a terrible accident between the tractor-trailer and me. I was air lifted to a trauma center. The truck driver was also injured. My vehicle was totaled. I consider the adjustable pedals a very dangerous problem and the owners of of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car signature limited with adjustable pedals should be made aware of this danger.
This vehicle did not have a tether anchor installed in the driver's side position in the back seat. There were tether anchors installed in the center & passenger seats. There was the plastic cap on the driver's side, but lifting it up revealed no tether anchor. This is in violation with federal motor vehicle safety standard 213 & 225 which require all vehicles 2000 and newer (weighing less than 8,500 pounds) to have at least 3 tether anchors. This vehicle only had 2. . Read more...

Driver was parking Lincoln Town Car. Stepped on brake while putting car into park position. Car suddenly accelerated over concrete parking stop and slammed into an entrance to shopping center sign that was in front of the parking space. The car ended up with the front of the car against the sign and the rear wheels of the car up against the parking stop.
Bob utter Ford auto dealership in sherman, TX tried to sell us a car that the odometer reading didn't match the carfax or its own registration sticker on the windshield. When we returned the vehicle they became verbally confrontational to us. We requested the paperwork they had made us sign to take the vehicle home for an overnight test drive. It had our personal identification information on it that we did not want to leave in their hands. They began stalling tactics and then verbally ordered us off their property.

Actual time first noticed is difficult to establish. The complaint is for "flickering lights" . I was told there was a recall and to visit the local Ford dealership for corredtion. Was told that there was a recall, and thousands of 2003 Lincolns had been recalled, but mine was not one of them. The problem has gotten to the point where the car is not driven at night. My complaint is that if one Lincoln is recalled for a particular problem, any car of the year and same problem should be covered. The cost of the repair is approximately $650. 00. No matter what the cost, the company should be responsible.
Applied brakes and car unexpectedly accelerated. This has happened 6-7 over the last 3 months. The last time the car was at a dead stop at a traffic and unexpectedly accelerated.
Water accumulates on floor front and rear. Passenger sidethe car can be in motion or stationary during rain or going through car wash. We had a 2001 towncar with the exact same problem. After googling this issue I find there are many autos with this problem. What we spend for these autos this should have been resolved by manufacturer years ago!.
I was stopped and entering a turn. There was no ice on the pavement. As I turned left the car accelerated and the brakes became unresponsive. The car spun and hit a fire hydrant. This car at other times as suddenly accelerated, but I was always able to apply the brakes and it calmed down in a few seconds.
I own a 1996 Lincoln towncar VIN 1lnlm81w8ty673137. On Saturday 7/9/2011 my brake lines broke and my brakes failed in rockwood, TN. Fortunately I was able to safely drive the car to a safe place where I had a friend patch the lines with rubber hoses and was able to again use my brakes. I discovered that Ford has issued a recall for certain towncars #79493 4/7/1998 for brake line replacement. I went to 2 Ford dealerships and was told this recall didn’t cover my car. I feel this recall should cover my car because the same defects on the towncars covered are present on my towncar and caused the brake lines to break. I am asking Ford to authorize me to receive the same protection afforded the owners of the covered towncars and cover my repairs at one of my local Ford dealerships. I called the customer relations center on 7/12/2011 and was given a case number 0555441931. I called again on 7/13/2011 and was told the recall didn’t cover my car. I am only asking for the same treatment afforded many other covered 1996 towncar owners under this recall!.

My 2005 Lincoln Town Car extended warranty expired @ 100,000 miles and at about 110,000 miles the a/c failed. The dealership repaired it citing that the evaporator failed at a cost of approx. $2,400. I called Ford motor and they said that theres nothing they can do to help me. About a month ago, 3 months after having the evaporator replaced, the a/c failed again, not blowing cold air. I took it back to the dealership that did the original work, and this time they said that the accumulator is leaking and has to be replaced at a cost of approx. $700. 00. Again I called Ford motor and they said that they cannot help. Can you intervene? the dealership is safford Lincoln-Mercury, silver spring, maryland, phone #: 888-848-5997, and the service manager is chris austin.
When it rains the water runs off the windshield on the drivers side, the water goes down to the ground between the kick board and the fenders and properly drains to the ground. The problem on the passenger side the water from the windshield comes in through the kickboard area flooding the floorboard. This has been a constant problem. Water comes in and damages the carpet. Leaves a puddle of water on the floor.
