The contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Town Car. While driving various speeds, the front driver side door independently locked and unlocked. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 46,800.

Had a premature axle failure on my 2003 Lincoln Town Car, only 110k miles. Same year, model, body code, assembly plant & problem as addressed in the recall for this car, but was told by Ford that it was not there problem because the car is out of warranty and was built a few months outside of the date range given in the recall. A little internet research will show you that there are many of us out here that have received no remedy from Ford to correct this potentially deadly problem. Also while doing research on this car I discovered that my driver side door handle that broke a few months ago creating another potentially deadly situation has also been well documented and ignored by Ford & the NHTSA. What are you waiting for, someone to be trapped & die because of a broken piece of plastic.

The contact owns a 2006 Lincoln Town Car. While the vehicle was stopped, the contact noticed that the rear passengers could not get out of the vehicle unless a driver or front seat passenger unlocked the door. The child safety locks were not engaged. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the failure could not be explained. The contact owns a 2004 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated that the front driver's side door would not open from the inside or outside. Occupants may not be able to safely exit the vehicle in the event of a crash. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 112,000.

The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town Car executive. The contact stated that the drivers side door handle does not return to its fully closed position and would not remain closed, causing the door to open while the vehicle was in motion. The failure was similar to NHTSA campaign id number 08v058000 (latches/ locks/ linkages doors, latch). The manufacturer was aware of the failure; however they informed the contact that her model was not involved in the previous recall and to take the vehicle to a local dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired nor was a diagnostic test done due to the cost. The current mileages were approximately 84,000 and the failure mileages were approximately 70,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Lincoln towncar. Whenever the contact attempts to accelerate from a stop, he noticed that the vehicle will surge forward and the brakes will hesitate to engage. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the vehicle was working properly. The contact had noticed the failure since the day the vehicle was purchased. The current and failure mileages were 31000. Updated 06/15/10 also, the power door locks on the left rear door did not work. At times it did work, but it made a loud griding noise when it did unlock. 2002 Lincoln towncar car has auto lock feature locking all doors when moving forward. After stopping those in the front seat can exit by using door handle. Those in rear seat must first use the unlock plunger. In event of accident if rear passengers do not know this they are trapped in car.
