: the contact stated while driving 70 mph on the interstate at night, all exterior and interior lights failed without warning. The contact maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road. After turning the headlight switch off and on several times, the exterior and interior lights resumed normal function. The dealer was alerted. Updated 2/12/2007 -.
Consumer complained about the light in the trunk. The light became so hot that it melt the plastic cover and caused a fire in the vehicle.
Trunk light failed to go off when consumer placed clothes in trunk. Consumer maintained that light could have been on whole time, but had no way of knowing that. Consumer proceeded down the road and smelled something burning. Pulled into dealer, go out of vehicle, and noticed smoke coming from under vehicle. Dealer popped up trunk, and fire jumped right in their faces. Dealer reached under trunk and pulled out a bulb. Told consumer that this was the cause of fire. Consumer felt that trunk light was poor designed. Ford motor company replaced this vehicle with a 2001 model.
While driving vehicle will lose all electrical functions due to a short. Dealer had vehicle 3-4 months, but could not determine cause . Vehicle has had multiple problems. Out side door panel came off. Brakes are spongy. Windshield failed. Seat malfunctions. Dash lithts and stereo failed at diffeerent times.
The headlights / dashboard lights are malfunctioning which could result in an accident due to poor visibility. Neither dealer nor Ford has provided help.
