Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problems of the 1996 Mazda 626

Three problems related to front seat belt buckle assembly have been reported for the 1996 Mazda 626. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2005

Passenger side seat belt buckle split open causing the metal pin that holds buckle to the belt portion to fall out, causing entire buckle to fall off. The plastic casing is the only thing holding the pin in place but the plastic dries out with age and splits open. Reported to Mazda, but they don't care.

2 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2000

Driver's safety belt sometimes pppps out. Safety belt indicator light is off and the safety belt beep sound sometimes is on,sometimes is off.

3 Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly problem

Front seat belts were inoperative. The plastic piece of the seat belt assembly that the buckle was installed on came apart. When this occurred the metal piece inside the plastic seat fell out. Seat belt remained fastened, but will not restrain the occupant in an accident. Dealership replaced the plastic part.
