Emission Control problems of the 1997 Mazda 626

Two problems related to emission control have been reported for the 1997 Mazda 626. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Emission Control problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2003

1997 Mazda 626 lx - transmission, catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, and computer have all been repaired in a span of 11 months. The car does not have 80,000 miles on it!.

2 Emission Control problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2001

Vehicle taken to service twice under warranty. Sensor cleaned instead of replaced. Per Mazda, this is not a proper "repair". Now mass air flow & O2 sensor damaged. Vehicle stalls when slowing or stopped.
