My 2001 Mazda 626 has had two transmissions installed and now installing the third one @104000 miles first time the overdrive light flashed and would not shift into the proper gear at 53000 miles we had to fight with Mazda north America for several weeks to take care of it. Also wheeler Mazda in yuba city did not help or care witch the car was purchased at new. I have had the car serviced at the dealer
for all recommended service. Now the second one just went out @ 104000 miles and the Mazda rep for Mazda north America will not help at all. The cost to repair this one is2,900 dollars. I have 3 children and one on the way. This is not what I expect from a new car that has been well taken care of. The axles went out @ 70000 miles the stereo went out 2 times in the first month. The 2nd transmission started squeaking for about 10 minutes then the transmission just quit. Thanks.

In addition to smelling gas - the radio and antenna doesn't work. Now the sunroof won't close all the way. The check engine light comes on more often than not since I had the car. The key sometimes won't fit into door lock and even though the car looks brand new and has been well taken care off - it just seems to fall apart. The glove compartment lock fell apart but the biggest thing is the sunroof won't close all the way. This is my 3rd Mazda and I will never buy another one.

The contact owns a 1998 Mazda 626. The contact noticed that her radio was inoperative accompanied by a heating sensation. In addition, the vehicle would fail to start. She called the manufacturer in reference to NHTSA campaign id number 98v243000 (equipment:electrical:radio/tape deck/cd etc. ), in which a representative stated that they would not assume any responsibility for the repairs. The contact was referred to a dealer. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 46,000.

I purchased this vehicle, new, on April 8, 1999. Immediately I noticed problems, the car made an odd noise and vibration at rest, this was repaired, a missing bolt from the heat shield . The cd player stopped working within 10 days of purchase, replaced. Warped wind deflecter replaced, and blown interior light fuses. The major problem of course is the transmission. Car was taken to dealer on April 19, 1999 reported concerns with the transmission, shifting roughly, lurching and slipping at various speeds. Technician test drove car, said there was no problem, did not do electronic analysis of transmission. I indicated my concern regarding the transmission to Mazda corp. In the Mazda care survey as well. On Dec. 15, I went to dealership and demanded that a tech. Ride with me as I expressed concerns. Car had almost cut off while driving 3 days before. I had to rent a car to go to florida because I was afraid to put car on the road. Car was left with dealer, and finally found to have transmission problem. They want to replace transmission, and then offer me a 12,000 mile warranty on the replaced transmission, when I currently have 35,000 miles remaining an my bumper to bumper warranty. This is inequitable, and unacceptable. This car was sold to me with a faulty transmission, and I want a replacement vehicle (new) or my money.
