Driveshaft Problems of Mazda B4000

Mazda B4000 owners have reported 2 problems related to driveshaft (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Driveshaft problem of the 1999 Mazda B4000

Failure Date: 05/19/1999

This truck is manufactured by Ford, it is identical to the Ford ranger with the exception of a few exterior body panels. This truck has a mechanical flaw in the drive line that feels as if the transmission bounces or "thumps up and down" when moderately accelerating from a stand still. My service center has attempted 4 repairs as per Mazda service bulletins, all have failed. Each time I contact my service center regarding a repair solution I am told the same thing" Mazda is working on a fix". I have contacted Mazda customer service numerous times and gained no information. I have been researching the characteristics of this defect. In a very short period of time I have located other Ford ranger owners with the same problem, some models dating back to 1994. When they turned to Ford for a repair, they too were put aside. What alarms me is NHTSA has many bulletins where Ford acknowledges my same complaint, some bulletins dating back to 1997 model year. I firmly believe that Ford has sold 100's to 1000's of ranger and ranger equivalents with this design defect as first quality, while knowing they are not. Today, sept. 18,2000 a Mazda representative has contacted me for the first time since this problem began. He said they do not know how to fix it. I need help in directing Ford to aknowledge this problem and release a fix. I have tolerated this defective vehicle for 25000 miles and I am approaching the end of my warranty. Another concern of mine is what long term effect this will have on other related components. Please help in anyway possible.

2 Driveshaft problem of the 1998 Mazda B4000

Failure Date: 07/31/1998

Truck shudders 4 to 5 times coming to a complete stop and taking off from a complete stop all the time and occasionally also shudders in 2nd gear[truck is an automatic]. This has occurred since the 1st day I picked up the truck. It has been back to 2 different Mazda dealers after I had the transmission checked by an independent shop which gave the truck a clean bill of health and then took to independent shop for a diagnostic check where they found the problem to be the driveshaft. With this info I went back to Mazda where they regreased and repacked the driveshaft. The problem continues. I called the repair shop after I picked up the truck and told them the truck was still doing the same only now worse. I was told that they called in the dsm for the area Mazda dealers and he stated this was a "characteristic" of all the B4000 series and nothing more would be done. I have the extended warranty of 6yr/100,000 and if I take the truck for repair by other than Mazda then I will ify this warranty. I don't know what else to do. The problem is very annoying especially in any stop and go traffic[city driving inparticular] all I want to do is have the truck fixed. Any info or help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
