Our sunroof exploded on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. It was about 35 degrees outside and a bright, sunny day. We were on interstate 94 and heard a loud explosion. We looked behind us and saw glass flying from our rooftop. The truck behind us dropped his speed immediately, as our glass was flying off the roof. We immediately pulled over to the side of the highway and saw that our sunroof had exploded up and outward. The tempered glass is totally in shards and barely held together. We pulled off the larger, loose pieces, and called our insurance company immediately. We are fortunate the inside headliner of the sunroof was closed, or we would have had glass raining down on us. We do not believe anything landed on the roof, as I have a roof rack on top and nothing is damaged on top of the roof itself. We contacted the manufacturer, Mazda, and they don't think it is a warranty issue. I believe we have a defect with the sunroof glass and would like it looked into.
