10+ incidents of sudden unintended acceleration since Aug 2018. Always at freeway speed of traffic, I. E. 70-75mph. Occurs when intentionally decelerating (easing off the gas pedal and initiating braking). Rpms jump to 7 or 8. Acceleration immediately drops and steads after tapping/applying pressure to brakes. Has been taken ralph thayer dealership 3 times -- aug2018, jan2019, feb2019. Each time vehicle kept for a week but unable to duplicate issue. Data recorder was installed in jan2019. Despite a several minute long episode on Feb 22, 2019 in which the car behaved erratically (buckling and jolting) and wouldn't accelerate more than 60 mph while the rpms were high (4-5) for several minutes, this was somehow not sensed by the data recorder. My own guess is an issue with the pcm or the automatic transmission control module. Have suas affected transmission? seems to be a known issue yet the dealer/Mazda reaction is perfunctory at best. No commitment to resolve. E. G. Because my driving was limited while the recorder was in, I requested that it be left in for 3 months. Mazda refused, stating that if it happens again (and it will), they'll reinstall the recorder. That a collision hasn't happened is just luck. A serious accident caused by this vehicle is imminent since these issues adversely affect the ability to control the vehicle. I also don't relish being my own crash test dummy. There is nothing they can do beyond a series of expensive parts replacements based on their guesses? I have some video and photos per their request, but note that attempting to photograph or video the dashboard while driving is an extra bullet in what already feels like russian roulette. I've attached a summary of events provided to Mazda in January and the most recent mechanic's report. $800 suggested for guess-based tcm replacement, $240 inconclusive tests, no loaner provided.
Abs, and traction control dash board lights are on. The abs relay is faulty, so the abs module needs to be replaced.
When vehicle is in park, the shift lever gets stuck and does not shift out of 'park'.
Sitting at a light and my sunroof shattered.
Over time, the dashboard underneath the drivers side windsheild of my car has melted. Now it's sticky and very shiny. When the direct sun hits it, it causes a dangerous glare directly in front of the driver, and makes it difficult to see in front. While Mazda has extended a warranty on this repair, I was not informed as I was about other recalls. This should be a recal notice - without an expiration date as it is clearly a safety issue.
I've scheduled the recall repairs three times ,with three different Mazda dealerships, since June 2018, when my hatchback smashed against my head (pictures attached). Each time a day or two before the scheduled recall repairs each dealership had called and canceled the recall repairs with no availability on a reschedule date available. This is completely unacceptable. I attempted to reschedule the recall repairs today August 21,2019 , there is no dates available at any Mazda dealerships within 100 miles of my location for more than one year from now. So in my opinion this is Mazda completely failing to complete a timely repair on Mazda recalls.
The dash on my vehicle has melted and become shiny and hard to see when driving. It appears this is a known issue and Mazda has "extended" the warranty on the dash, however since my car has a "branded title" from hail damage this excludes my vehicle. Also the issue is outside the 10 year extended warranty. This is a known issues and is listed on the Mazda website. Multiple people have the same issue. After contacting Mazda they will not replace the dash. Since this is a known issue and safety hazard I believe it should be a recall vs them extending the warranty to save costs on not having to replace certain vehicles. Https://insidemazda. Mazdausa. Please see attached regarding a known dashboard lifting defect.
Push button start malfunction, causing instrument panel to light up and behave erratically. Car obviously not safe to drive at that point. Shifting into reverse louder than normal and very noticeable jerk. Same result when shifting back to drive. Did not attempt any movement. Shut off engine. Waited several seconds, attempted restart, but engine would not restart. Instrument panel was lit up with a red key indicator light. Towed to dealer. Could not diagnose failure. Reset system, ran full diagnostic, no failure codes reported. Drove fine for 2 days, on 3rd day, problem repeated itself, car is now back at the dealer waiting on repair/diagnosis. Car was parked in home garage southern az on both occasions.
Exploding sunroof. The glass in my sunroof spontaneously exploded while traveling on the highway. A loud bang, followed by glass showering occupants, resulting in minor injuries. Upon review, the glass appeared to blown up and outward from the vehicle.
Dashboard is melting and causes a glare on the windshield.
The clutch failed prematurely at ~45k miles. When I was driving, I noticed the car was slow to accelerate after shifting. I took it to a mechanic who said the clutch needed to be replaced and that it was extremely early for it to have failed.
On two separate occasion that were several months apart from one another, my vehicle has shut off while I have been driving. On both occasions I did not touch the key in the ignition in any way. There were no bumps or drastic changes in the driving conditions. The steering on the vehicle locked up and I had to hurry to get it start again. Both incidents I was actively driving on city streets. I was on a 45 mph road the first time and a 35 mph road the second time. I have no idea what caused the issue but it has happened twice for no apparent reason at all. The last time that it occurred, I was just completing a turn.
I took my 2010 Mazda3 in for recall of seat link adjusters and to service my melting dashboard that causes an unsafe glare on the windshield while driving in sunny conditions. The dealership verified the recall and service in may 2017 and was informed that parts will need to be ordered. Was told that I would receive a call back in a week or two. After several repeated attempts at calling and emailing the dealership, I cannot reach the service department to check on the status of ordered parts. The time frame for the repair from the unsafe conditions of the driver's seat that moves while I shift, and the horrendous glare from the melting dashboard, is to slow for resolution. It has been 3 months since having my car inspected at rosenthal Mazda/gaithersburg Mazda at 625 north frederick avenue in gaithersburg, MD 20879. I have not received any response of communications informing me of the status of getting my car repaired or my rights as a consumer.
There was a pop I felt in my back as I was driving (July 2017) I never thought much of it at the time. Due to my work, I had my vehicle maintenance many different Mazda dealerships. I have had my dash replaced (wescott, national city, CA) but no one mentioned the seat problem that I can recall. Now it is December 2020 and the entire right side of the seat has broken? while driving I sit askew the right half of my body is lower than the other. I shouldn't have to pay for another seat when this was an active recall no matter the delay.
Loud noise in back suspension. Noise occurs running highway but gets louder on a city street unknown cause. When turning vehicle started clicks but need to keep trying to turn on. Probably computer problem.
My dashboard has been melting caused me to drive off road and almost to have accidents numerous times when the sunlight and the traffic light at night reflects on the dashboard/windshield and blinds whos driving and u cant even clean it just wish that it would be resolved before something worse happens.
Glare from sticky dashboard is a safety hazard. It is very difficult to see through windshield with this problem. Mazda dealer did not assist in anyway. Please assist me. Thank you.
The dashboard has been melting over a period of time. It is gradually getting worse. There now is a glare refllecting on the windshield that is causing me to be concerned about my passengers and my own safety. I received a recall notice June 1, 2017 and tried to contact Mazda, they never returned my calls. The paperwork says 2010 Mazda3 dashboard upper panel sticky surface warranty extension progral-special service program (ssp)99 I have not had the replacement done, I can not afford the out of pocket cost. I am concerned about this problem.
I was driving on an interstate at 11:30 am, approximately 65 mph, 59f on 3/29/17. I heard a loud noise (like a gunshot), and saw that my sunroof had shattered, and glass was on the interior of my car, as the visor was open (sunroof was closed). I was able to pull over and assess the damage, noting no physical harm to myself, and only minor damage (paint chips) to my car. I was not driving under an underpass, and while there was other traffic on the interstate, it was ordinary traffic, and there was no construction in the area.
The dash board is melting.
My dash has glare from dash melt.
The dashboard has sticky area that cannot be cleaned. Glare from the sun or lights makes it very hard to see. It's like light shinning off of glass.
Tire deflated in seconds while driving. Replacing a corroded valve stem and tpms. This should be a safety recall after reading hundreds of complaints with the same issue on cars that are only a few years old. This is a major safety issue!!.
Steering wheel, at any speed, moves slightly from side to side causing it to be crooked. Alignments and balancing has not solved the problem. The wheel is loose in steering and increasingly scary since it is slightly crooked and can be very hard to keep the car from over steering even when driving straight on a perfectly paved road. I'm afraid the steering pump is corroding. Please investigate as newer models and Mazda in japan had a major recall for this very issue. Please do a us recall as it's definitely a safety issue and very unpredictable especially on curvy or bumpy roads.
Transmission indicator light came on while driving, which caused the car to not shift beyond 3 gear. After diagnosis, it was determined that a new solenoid was needed. After that, it was then determined that a new transmission control module was needed. The first one from the manufacturer was defective and a second was needed.
Dashboard melts in hot sun causing glare while driving and leaves sticky black residue when touched. Over half of my dash is melted.
The driver's seat frame breaks resulting in the driver of the vehicle to rock backwards with the seat when the vehicle is in forward motion. The car becomes uncontrollable when the seat rocks back causing the driver to hold themselves upright trying to drive the vehicle. The seat exhibits characteristics that can only be called unsafe. This defect will ultimately result in a serious accident with injury or death. The vehicle was parked when this was first noticed. The defect with the seat frame also renders the seat belt useless and is safety hazard compounded by the seat frame breaking loose. This defect appears to happen only on the 2010 Mazda 3 model and there are many additional complaints, both here and in public forums. Mazda needs to recall for replacement of a seat frame that is built so as not to break in normal use. Why this has not happened is negligent. My local Mazda dealer gave me an estimate of $980. 00 to repair the seat frame. The manager was not willing to negotiate the cost of the repair nor willing to discuss further.
Tire sensor malfunctions and punctures the tire. I had already replaced tire sensors on all the wheels and it is happening every year. I only had 44,000 miles and I had to replace all the tires and tire sensors. I had the car parked yesterday night and all the tires had good pressure and drove in the morning out the driveway. Within less than 0. 5 driving my front passenger wheel got flat. After towing to dealer, I found out it was due tire sensor.
The dashboard has started to melt. This has resulted in a very shiny sticky mess. The sheen causes severe vision problems while operating the vehicle. I have been almost blinded and unable to see the traffic at times.
The dashboard is melting causing a glare in the windshield. Blocking my view while driving.
My dashboard is also melting like others have complained about. It started about 36 months in and only gets worse. It's now a sticky mess that reflects on to the windshield which causes glare when looking out the windshield. It seems to be dangerous to drive on sunny days in florida. It's distracting and is unsafe for the driver as well for anything that is in the area of the glare outside the car. This needs to be addressed. When brought to the attention of my service garage the mechanic told me that he had seen it on about 1 of every 5 cars serviced. When I inquired what it would cost to get it repaired/replaced the guy said it would be close to $2000. That's crazy for something that is obviously a manufacturing issue.
My dashboard has started melting. It causes a huge glare across the front windshield and makes it difficult to drive. This is an accident waiting to happen. I did put my car in service at the Mazda dealership in clear lake, texas and it sat there for over a month. They did give me a loaner car but they called me to drop off the loaner and pick up my car, I expressed how terrified I am to drive my vehicle and asked if I could stay in the loaner until the issue was resolved, and they said, "it was not their problem" and gave me the Mazda corporate number "because it was Mazda's problem not the dealership". I called Mazda and they told me to return the loaner and to put a towel over the melted dashboard(which I have tried but cause a reflection). I am furious that my safety is not a priority to these people. I need help getting this issue resolved.
Melting dashboard and windshield glare.
The top of the dashboard is melting and shiny. The melting dash when cleaned falls apart. It is also creating a glare on the windshield. The glare is creating an issue when driving on a very sunny day.
