Driver's seat lifter adjustments broken (recall notice has been sent but when I went to dealer in mid-February 2017 was told they didn't have the part, and would call me back when it arrived). As of today, 10/26/17, I have not been called to tell me the part is in.
The welds on the front seat attachments have snapped off.
The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the front driver's side seat tilted forward independently and then detached from the track. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Copied from an existing complaint because I had the exact same problem: the swing arm that attaches the driver's seat to the left-side seat runner unexpectedly detached. Close inspection revealed that this was caused by a weld failure / metal fatigue at the point where the arm was welded to the rod that runs below the cushion. The seat is now unstable and rocks in an alarming way, both when accelerating and decelerating. The failure occurred with a popping noise as I prepared to pull away from a parking spot.
Takata recall, I hear some noises from the seat.

The seat is now unstable and rocks in an alarming way, both when accelerating and decelerating. The failure occurred with a popping noise as I prepared to pull away from a parking spot. I purchased the car new and have treated it gently. I am a skinny guy and have at no time been rough on the seat. I am surprised that there is no recall on this failure as it is clearly a safety issue.
Frame bracket broke while driving in town on the front driver seat causing the seat to rock completely back.
My drivers side seat bracket has broken causing the seat to rock slightly. Also, the dashboard appears to be melting with a shiny sticky spot.
Driver seat flips backwards - cannot drive the vehicle.
Part of the metal mounting that holds the driver's seat front left side in place broke, and now the seat rocks. This happened while the vehicle was stationary. The seat is now secured at three points rather than 4, and I'm concerned about the strength of the other front mounting point. Seems like a significant safety complaint, and a quick check online indicates that this is a widespread, known issue with the 2010 Mazda 3.
I was driving with friends in the car on the highway to get some dinner. 70 is our speed limit. All of sudden I heard a snap under me and my body shifted. I sit pretty up right so I felt moving back at least two inches and my hand shift position as well which almost cause a accident. I call the dealer today, "you're not under warranty, sorry" really? I almost die in a car you guys sell me and I get a sorry? it was either get it fix or play when the other side of the seat bracket is going to snap.
Steering wheel locking up while driving, unable to turn the car.
The weld on the bottom of the driver's seat, which attaches the seat to the sliding rails, has broken. This happened when I was accelerating as the traffic light turned green. The seat is now very loose and is rocking back and forth. I have to hold on the steering wheel while accelerating or braking to keep from tipping over. This is an obvious safety issue. After doing a little research on the internet, it's obvious that this is a common problem with the 2010 Mazda3. Yet Mazda refuses to acknowledge the problem and do something about it. I went to the Mazda dealer and was quoted $582 dollars just for the parts on the bottom of the seat, which needed to be replaced. This does not include the labor cost. I also went to the Mazda website and filed a complaint. Three weeks have passed and no one from Mazda has contacted me. All I received was an automated email saying "due to the unusually large number of emails received our response time may be delayed". I don't think Mazda will ever respond.

A couple months ago I heard a click while driving my car and after hearing that click I noticed that my drivers car seat titled a little. Yesterday after loading my car I heard another click and now both front welds attaching my drivers seat to the floor board have broken off leaving my drivers car seat completely unattached at the front. My car is now extremely unsafe and basically a rocking chair. After calling both the dealership I purchased my car from and the Mazda dealership they both turned me away telling me it wasn't something that they would look at. This is an extreme danger and after doing my research on the internet it seems to be a very common problem with these cars. This needs to be recalled.
I was sitting down in the car (driver's seat) and adjusted my position slightly and heard a loud pop and the seatback moved backwards away from the steering wheel. The seat itself had noticeable freedom to move up and down at the left corner. Upon examination, the bracket that is welded to the support brace on the forward left side of the seat had failed at the weld locations (2). This bracket is pinned to the rail and keeps the seat bottom attached to the track. Mazda must recal these seats. They do have a fix to repair without seat replacement. Mazda is aware of the problem. But is charging for the fix. Recall time.
Driver side seat separated from front seat slide adjuster. Driver seat "rocked" back and now the car is extremely dangerous to operate. The entire seat flips backwards upon acceleration.
While preparing to drive my 2010 Mazda 3, I got in to adjust the drivers seat. As I was adjusting I heard a loud pop from the front left side of the drivers seat. I got out of the car and realized the seat had a lot of play in it. I took the seat out to find out what the problem was, I noticed that the weld point that secured the seat to the cross bar under the seat, sheared off cleanly, pointing to a bad weld. This is definitely a safety hazard and I would like to be able to prevent any future accidents or worse. Based on the weld points on the passenger seat and the right side of the drivers seat, I can't imagine that this part would have ever failed, but it has and on numerous Mazda 3 models. There are at least 25 complaints on this site alone. Can someone do something about this? $700 to fix is outrageous and that "estimate" was from 3 different locations.

This is definitely a safety hazard and I wonder what unnecessary injuries I or my wife may have suffered had this part failed during an accident. I can't imagine that this part would ever be expected to fail.
Sat down, heard a loud pop and seat move violently resulting in me falling away from steering wheel. Upon inspection, left side weld on front rail snapped in half.
Have a 2010 Mazda3 2. 5s 5 door and the driver seat rocks and jolts. Have found forums and threads about it, all related issues to welding. Tried taking it to dealer to ask their opinion and not helpful. Showed him the issue and he did indeed realize it was rocking too much and probably not safe. Informed that it was not under warranty and to replace the seat it would be $700+. I feel that there are enough cases and questions out there regarding the driver seats becoming loose that Mazda should replace or fix the weld issues at their expense. Please look closer into this issue because I fear that it will eventually fail completely and cause serious injury.
Sat in drivers seat heard and felt a snap under drivers seat. Broken weld on seat brace.
I opened my car and sat down in the drivers seat as per usual only to find that the left side of my seat felt loose. As I leaned forward and backwards I could feel the seat moving with me. I got out and looked under my seat to see what may be loose. What I found was that the part of the seat assembly that attaches to the rail system had come out. I looks like a small metal bolt that goes through a metal rail and is either bolted down on the opposite side or welded together.
While driving herd a popping under the drivers seat, the seat then started rocking back in forth. Seat is unsafe to drive. Noticed several other complaints about the exact same thing obviously there is a problem with the weld points on this model. My 3rd Mazda never had any problems with my 1st 2 but the 2010 Mazda 3 quality does not hold up to the previous years.
Driver seat is loose and rocks. A piece of metal detached and it looks like very cheap metal and poor welding.
Entered the vehicle to go to work. Sat down in the driver's seat, immediately heard a pop and the seat became unsteady (wobbly). After work I looked at the bottom of the seat and saw that a weld broke loose from a bar that stabilizes the seat. It is very disconcerting to the driver while operating the vehicle and may contribute to the possibility of future crashes. The safety of the seat during a crash scenario is compromised.
Driver seat is loose and moves during braking or turning a corner. This can make it hard to control the vehicle. If this would break loose during a crash how would this effect air bag operation.
Noticed movement/loose drivers seat, took to dealer, said basic warranty had expired, but milage low so Mazda may cover. Mazda covering part, but not labor. The seat is loose, bracket is cracked that holds seat. Is this a safety isue that should be covered under the safety warranty?.
Drivers seat feel loose and wiggles. Unknown how it would hold up during a crash.
The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated that the driver's seat frame became separated from the base. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the seat bracket had fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current the vehicle was 86,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Mazda 3i. The contact stated that the driver's side seat would independently move back and forth when the contact was driving at any speed. The contact stated that the seat became separated from the base due to defective welding. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 81,160.
Driver side seat appeared to have bad welding on the slider and it snapped. Mazda has denied fixing the faulty seat, citing the warranty being expired.
The vehicle involved is a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. I sat in the front drivers seat and felt the drivers seat shift backwards. From that point on the seat was unsteady and rocked forward and backward depending on which I was doing, accelerating or breaking. Upon examination, it was found that the weld on the seat bracket had broken. In my opinion, this is a very unusual break and could be very hazardous if it happens upon braking. This issue happened on 03/15/13.
While driving my Mazda3, came to a stop, upon accelerating my seat began to rock slightly, about a week or so later, came to a stop and upon accelerating my whole seat rocked backwards, to the point I could no longer reach the pedals. Took the car into the dealership and was told the welds that attach the seat to the seat track had broken. The seat is no longer stable and safe to drive. Several calls into Mazda, but getting no where because the car is out of warranty. Obviously the welds connecting the seat to the seat track, and the subsequent breaking of those welds is a manufacturing defect that causes huge safety risks for all drivers of Mazda3s. It is unknown where/when the welds will break.
The contact owns a 2010 Mazda3. The contact stated that the driver's seat frame separated from the base. The contact's independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and found a defective welding, which caused the base to separate from the seat. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current the vehicle was 100,000.
