Mazda MAZDA3 owners have reported 51 problems related to electronic stability control (under the electronic stability control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mazda MAZDA3 based on all problems reported for the MAZDA3.
Soft brake pedal. Abs brakes not funtioning. Stability control disabled. Braking proportioning not functioning. All related to abs module issue that Mazda is aware of but won't recall. Severely affects the safe operation of the vehicle as the stopping power and stability are decreased when abs unit fault occurs. Prohibitively expensive to replace and is not covered by warranty, even on low-mileage cars. Service bulletin has existed for years and needs to be elevated to recall.

Mazda has to do something about the tcm. Mine goes in and out and I can't pull in front of traffic when the acceleration goes down. It's an accident waiting to happen and it known the this particular part is known to go out. It's a safety issue Mazda needs to address immediately before someone dies. The first picture is when the car is in manuel mode as you can see that's supposed to be a 5 for fifth gear which u can see that it's hard to tell and that is when it's working when it goes out the cars acceleration slows down and there's no digital display at all. The second picture is when it's in automatic that is supposed to be a d letter letting you know as the driver the gear is in drive. This a frequent problem and I'm not willing to risk my life and posar he lives of others for a mistake that should be corrected by Mazda.

I was driving about 30 mph or slower in a light rain on a city street when my vehicle said that the front radar failed/unable to function, all safety systems are now disabled. This lasted for about 3-4 minutes and then it started to function again but only for 2 minutes and then it gave the same message and disabled all my safety systems while again. It started to function again as I pulled into my driveway which is why I was unable to get a photo. I have had multiple ongoing problems with lane departure warning and with the windshield wiper sensor and the doors and trunk locking and unlocking. I think the entire electrical system is defective and most of the problems come from the front radar but there are so many problems with the electronics that I this this vehicle is a lemon. The lane-keep assist is so bad it has almost made me crash on 3 separate occasions so I have disabled it.

These issues been happening since the second month I owned my 2019 Mazda 3 hatchback. 1- suspensions, they're very rough & harsh. , they bounce so much for no reason, I damaged one tire already while I was driving on i476 normal highway where I stepped on normal pothole ended up damaging my tire, suspensions are really dangers on all roads. 2- "adaptive cruise control" this feature many times almost caused an accident, rear end specially on highways. For some reason it doesn't detect the car in front of me when I have auto cruise enabled, no rain clear weather, this been reported more than 5 times to the dealership & its hard for them to tell what happen. They even had specialist came from CA to check up the car however it was declared the car has no issues, yet I still have issues every day, s 3- emergency breaking, sometimes it enables for no reason & the cars behind me almost rear ended me, they think I did break check but I don't the brakes! 4- peruzzi Mazda, where I purchased my car, said they will never work on my car again because "it wasted enough of their time". I have video of me picking up the car from peruzzi Mazda, dealership & it won't start up out side the service department & I called the manager & he said leave for next day, he called me day after saying it was my iphone charger. . . I asked him how the tech was able to bring it outside to the front door without no issues? he refused to answer. I work at a hospital & I daily my car to work, its not safe for me or to anyone on the road to drive it at all.
Check engine light came on car was smoking after I drove it not very far took it to the dealership there claiming software issue my car battery is almost completely drained and I just got this car sometime keys won't work or my car won't start.

Abs and dsc has been disabled due to a faulty abs module and the dealer does not consider this a safety issue. The repair cost is ridiculously high and this should be recalled per the amount of internet traffic alone regarding this issue. This is not a nice to have feature this is a must have as it could safe a life. I have seen reports when the whole system fails. I was told I could drive without it even thou total break failure could occur.
I had just got my grandson and was traveling down i75 in GA I was going to merge into the next lane from the fast lane, I looked in my rear view mirror and side mirror and then back in front, I had plenty of time and room, as I started to merge it was like I could hardly turn the wheel and like I was breaking instead of spending up to get into the other lane, it happened so fast I had no idea what had taken place because I never should have hit the car, SUV. In front of me, I hit him with my left front headlight, but if my car had been running as it should have I would have been out of the lane and passing him I was stunned, and I didn't know anything about any of the recalls on my car, and I went to the dealer where I brought it, new from time to time and had work done, maintenance and was never told but I sure knew when my transmission was going out and they said I was passed warranty on it so I ordered a new one and had them install it but never told anything about the 2 recalls and when I was in the collision I told my friend who came to get me something was wrong with my car, it didn't want to turn and it slowed down without me touching the brakes. I guess that's what saved our lives but if it had not happened I would never have had the wreck my car was totaled, I was not hurt not bad just bruised by the airbag and my grandson had seatbelt marks on his neck and waist. Of course I took pictures and I will up load them for you.

The transmission module (tcm) is damaged quickly because it melts the silicone that protects it, since the heat emitted by the engine is very direct, which causes the tcm to be damaged and the transmission does not work. This problem is very common in the Mazda3-2010 therefore it is a manufacturing defect.
My airbag light on the dashboard keeps turning on and off. Seems to depend on the weather, ie, rain and high humidity.

On April 8 while picking up my daughter from school on nautilus street in la jolla, pointed downhill on a steep grade, my idling vehicle lost power without warning, I lost control of steering and brakes had to stop the vehicle with the handbrake, the passenger car door was open at the time my daughter was trying to step into the vehicle as the car took off, the door hit the car in front of me breaking her tail light, it took me three tries to get the engine to turn back over.
Tcs malfunction. transmission control system symbol is car with skid mark on the bottom. Take to dealer right away.
The power steering cuts out while driving and the electricity for the car cuts out for a second or two and then it comes back on. This happens frequently when turning the steering wheel.
Abs, and traction control dash board lights are on. The abs relay is faulty, so the abs module needs to be replaced.
Airbags: did not deploy upon impact of a streetlamp pole on the front driverside quarter. Front farring damaged and replaced. I was turning left, it was raining, the glare of the light blinded me enough to go up on the curb and impact the streetlamp pole. I replaced the farring and had my Mazda3 fully aligned. Electrical: purchased vehicle in October 2016. Replaced battery 4 times, alternator 3 times since purchase. Seat heaters haven't worked ever. Driverside seat started wiggling after contact with streetlamp pole.
Abs light and traction control lights are on. It is on since March. 2018 the first time I have notice this problem, I was going to work and abs light came on and then disapeared and after a few days like that just stayed on. I took it to the Mazda dealership in jacksonville FL, and they found three different faulty codes ; one for the abs control motor c0020 one for the dcs switch c110964-64-60 and one for the abs control module u0415 92-48. They gave me an estimate of $1100 including labor. . Read more...
Mazda 3 engine light on for 2 years. I have taken car to multiple mechanics and in 1-2 days light is back on. Recently car seems to hic cup on shifting and on braking the back end of car seems to run into the front end. In last 2 wks an at light came on and car almost wouldn't shift in gear. I have a verizon hom and got s message indicating solenoid stuck on e. When I called firestone they stated those Mazda 3 have that problem and that I need to take car to Mazda. In trying to understand my issue I googled problem that showed there was a electrical recall that may cause engine to stop or problems shifting.
After a car wash at home, the traction control sensor and the tire pressure monitor sensor on the rear driver side tire both failed. The underlying systems continued to function but due to the sensor failure, warning lights for both systems showed up on the dash and abs brakes were unavailable. Repair required replacement of the entire abs module.
I had a serious accident because my steering locked up so I couldn't steer my steering wheel . I rolled my car and nearly was killed.
Engine shut down in traffic and would not come out of drive. Mazda dealer service told me to disconnect battery to reset system. I think this is safety issue. Please contact me with answer.

While driving the speed goes up and down on its own the automatic transmission of my 2008 Mazda 3 shifts down from the 5th to the 3rd gear. This causes the car to jerk violently and the controls to illuminate including check engine, no traction and at. My mechanic could not find a cause of this, and he serviced the transmission by changing the filter and transmission fluid but the problem persists. One mechanic said it is the speed sensor another the transmissions computer I have spend about 1,800 and I still have the same problems. It is very scary for my kids and myself while driving and I can't afford to get another car. What is the problems with Mazda with my car? can someone please help?! also all the electrical stop working about two years ago, another thing is the steering wheels problems when making a turn it really time forever and it is really slow and heavy.

Driving my way to work the car suddenly stop and jerk from transmission gear also on reverse I run diagnostics and came out to be tcm (transmission control module) I bought another one from lkq use, and replaced and the car start working fine again then after about almost 2 years I was driving on a highway and suddenly and the at lights came on and almost have and accidents this time. My mechanic run a test with same results tcm not communication with transmission. I research this and there's a lot of problem with tcm out there but I guest that people haven't complaint , this is issue the Mazda know and they haven't done nothing about it. Thank you and hope the Mazda open recall on the tcm. Mazda 3 2006.

I have a 2013 Mazda 3i 5-door hatchback with approximately 61,000 miles, 90% highway driving to and from work. After having the battery replaced (original) earlier this year, I then noticed that my headlights would flash intermittently, at that time. As the year progressed, the headlight flashing, which presents itself only upon braking or deceleration, became markedly increased and brighter, including the dashboard information systems window inside. I went to an authorized mechanic, who first put my car on diagnostic, which showed that the alternator was very weak/worn. Since I had extended warranty, through a private company, but only until 60,000/5 years, I rushed to make time for the mechanic to receive authorization and replace the alternator, which he did, and my car runs great. There remains, though, the problem with the headlights flashing. Since the mechanic did reset the computer, we were stumped. Then my husband found a service bulletin from Mazda dealing with this specific issue, stating that the car must go to the dealer because only the dealer can reset all the parts of the computer. I then contacted Mazda, but have yet to receive a response. I do not feel that I should be made to pay for this adjustment/repair since Mazda apparently is well aware of this problem with this model car. Just google it, there are alot of m3 owners out there with similar problems, most got resolved because they were still under warranty. Great for them, but that doesn't help me. Not only is this a problem for me since I drive nearly 40 miles each way to/from work each night, but I am tired of other drivers flashing their lights at me, honking, or yelling. It is most annoying, not to mention a safety hazard, since I am a night-time/early morning driver, predominantly driving in the dark. Please advise.

The electrical systems is not working right the lights on the in side of the car come on when you get up to 75 to 80 mph they start flashing. The air bag light light come on the steering column lock up a lot of time were I have a hard time getting the key in the ignition.
As I placed the manual 5-door sedan model into reverse gear and slowly inched out of the parking space, the power to the radio and air conditioning died and a the power steering wheel light came on the dashboard. As I placed the car into first gear and began to move the vehicle forward, great difficulty was felt trying to get the vehicle to turn and the ac and radio kept turning off. As I attempted to enter onto the main street, the vehicle once again had great difficulty turning and almost created an accident. This inability to turn the wheel and the electrical going out, resulted in me eventually pulling to the curb and turning the vehicle off. After giving the vehicle a few minutes, I restarted it and had no issues until I was pulling into my apartment complex about 15 minutes away where the same power steering light came on and I couldn't fully turn the vehicle. The issue seems to be with the power steering pump and are exactly the same complaints that can be found with nthsa campaign number 10v374000.
Brake pedal travel went soft(had to pump)brake pedal for temporary(normal) pedal travel(feel). Mazda garage stated hydraulic abs unit bad. Also no waning lights lit on dashboard. Mechanic stated yaw code was thrown in code reader. Stated old code. I replaced the abs hydraulic unit at the Mazda dealership. Now there is a dynamic stability control lit on the dashboard. The abs was working the night before (snow on the ground) and no steady light lit. Just flash when it activated. Abs hydraulic unit replaced 12-27-2017.
The steering wheel seems to have lost all power steering capabilities, very scary! makes it extremely dangerous when attempting turns! noticed it luckily as I was pulling out of a large parking lot. Trying to remedy the situation so I can use a car that isn't an accident waiting to happen.
Cruise quit working, traction control light came on and shortly thereafter the check engine light came on. Then all the lights on the dash started flashing and went into limp mode. Car decelerated and I pulled over to the side of the road. Turned car off and then it wouldn't start. Waited about 10 min and restarted successfully with the check engine and traction control light still on. Drove another 70 miles going in and out of limp mode with dash lights flashing on & off. Took to dealer and replaced the angle (sp?) sensor in steering wheel. Dealer reset all codes and it's done it twice since getting car back, dealer can't figure out what's wrong. Have to go in and have the codes reset every time to get it back to running again.

Any time I proceed to make a turn, my wheel stiffens. Every light in my dashboard lights up. My radio cuts off and car stalls. This is very dangerous. There is a recall for this exact problem with this exact model of car but my VIN is not covered.
While driving, I slowed down and when turning, my wheel locked up and I had no control over my turn. My abs light flashed, along with the traction light. The radio turned off and then came back on. The wheel unlocked and luckily I was not turning where someone was stopped.
I have been having issues with this vehicle ever since I purchased it from a dealership in woodbridge, va. The car's gears does not shift correctly and the engine continuously stalls. If I'm at a traffic light and the light switches from red to green the vehicle jumps as if it's going to cut off. My at light also came on and my check engine light comes on and off. Every time the vehicle's engine light is checked, it's because of "the thermostat" which I've seen many complaints from owners of the same type of vehicle. Although, the engine code is coming up as an issue with the thermostat, there's actually never an issue. I searched my VIN and its stating there are no open recalls for my vehicle, but I'm having the same issues as the open recalls for this particular make and model for 2007. I bought the vehicle October 2013 so there's no way Mazda could've sent me information pertaining to the recall and the dealership did not inform me of this either.
The abs & dsc (dynamic stability control) instrument panel warning lights came on. I have had the car tested at a repair shop and two separate computer readouts show codes c0020, u0140 & u0140 (related to the abs hydraulic unit). The shop provided service bulletin no. 04-002/13, last issued: 7/17/2013 related to this problem. I understand I may not have functional abs or dsc but the brakes, while not having abs, still function. I was advised this may be a very expensive repair but since it is a safety related issue, Mazda may fix the problem at no charge. I would argue that not having abs or dsc is most certainly a safety issue and I should have received a recall notice. Please advise.
Dynamic stability control system malfunction. Drivers side air bag warning light illuminated on dash. Passenger air bag light is off.
I was driving on a city street, stopped for a red light, then when I tried to accelerate it was really slow. I looked at the dash and saw the tcs/dsc light was illuminated. As I continued driving the acceleration continued to be really slow and wouldn't go above 2000 rpms, top speed was 40mph. I limped home like this with my hazards on, parked for an hour or so, then started the car again to see if the light was still on it had gone off so I drove around the block and it ran perfectly fine. I called the local dealership to see if I should bring it in and was told it would be a waste of time if the light is not currently on and it's running fine. When I asked if he had heard of this happening with the 2012 Mazda 3 skyactiv he said a few times. That along with reading on this site that there are several other similar complaints tells me this is not an isolated issue. I'm just glad I wasn't on the freeway with my baby in the car. That would have been very dangerous. I'm sure Mazda doesn't want to wait until someone is injured or killed before they do something about this, right?.
Driving at 70mph, lost acceleration and multiple engine lights came on. Had to move over to emergency lane on interstate and driving to nearest exit at approx 40mph. Car towed to dealer for repair.
