Accelerator pedal stuck after engaging it to merge onto freeway. Cruise control was not on. Brakes barely slowed acceleration. Threw vehicle into neutral to stop acceleration. When vehicle put back in drive, pedal and accelerator functioned normally. When taken in to mechanic, found to be functioning normally.
At less than 24,000 miles, my clutch has begun to slip terribly and creates a terrible burning smell. I know there are hundreds of other Mazda owners who have also had to replace their clutches before they've had to replace brake pads. This is a drain on consumers, and a safety issue to boot.
Tpms failure. The light constantly keeps going on and off. One of my tires was very low overnight. I went to a gas station to get air, and the valve was missing. Completely off. I have read other reports on the same problem with same make and year. 2008 Mazda 3. This should be recalled.
Tire valve split and entered tire well causing it to go flat while driving at 70mph on highway. Not only did I have to replace the tire valve 115. 00 $ but I had to replace the tire since the little ways that I drove on it to pull over shredded the inside of the tire!!! this is now the second valve that has been replaced, luckily the first was discovered by the mechanic while replacing my tires. The other two seem to be on there way out as well.
I stopped at a stop sign and my car started accelerating as if the accelerator was fully depressed. My foot was squarely on the brake at the time but I was being pulled slowly forward on to a busy roadway. I am an experienced driver and was able to turn the car sharply to the right along the shoulder to avoid oncoming traffic. I shifted into park, and then shut the engine off. My foot placement was no where near the accelerator, and there were no other obstructions (I. E. Carpets). When I restarted the car the engine sounded normal. As an engineer, I am fairly certain that what ever happened was electronic in nature, not a mechanical obstruction or sticking linkage (I did not touch the gas pedal when I restarted). Prior to this incident I had been driving slow though a business park at 10 to 15 miles and hour for a couple of minutes, I was at a doctor appointment. I have not seen this issue before or since. Mazda has examined the car and did not see anything. I like the car, but I thought it was important to get this potentially dangerous flaw on record.
I first noticed that my clutch was not coming back all the way after changing gears. I was able to use the top of my foot to lift the clutch up without difficulty and it would pop back up. I immediately called the Mazda dealership which, I was currently about 2 miles from. I explained what happened and they said to make an appointment in the morning. I drove home about 3 miles. The next day I called to make an appointment. No one returned my phone call, so I started to drive my car to the dealership and it became more difficult to shift into gear, than I broke down completely after only driving about 3 miles and only about 3 traffic lights. After that, I could put the stick shift into gear but when I lifted the clutch up it would not engage. I bought my car brand new at Mazda and had all my regular maintance and inspections at the Mazda dealership aside from regular oil changes which, I got done at a local shop. I have always driven a stick shift and never had any problems with clutches. I was also the sole driver of my car. When I got home I did a little research and someone recommended filling out a complaint at this website. If I had not stumbled across that I would be none the wiser. While looking over the site, I noticed that there was a recent investigation of Mazda rx8. It stated that after the investigation, Mazda has informed odi that it conducted an owner notification of an extended warranty coverage program increasing the clutch pedal assembly warranty to 8 years and limited at 100k miles for model years 2004 through 2009 rx8 vehicles. My question is, how can a clutch have a lifetime of 100,000 miles in an rx8 which is a sportier car and probably receives more abuse than other models and only good for 12,000 in a 2006 Mazda 3/hatchback? could you look into all models. Thank you for your time.
I was driving home on residential streets when thick smoke started billowing out of my air conditioning vents and the front passenger wheel well. Since it is out of warranty and I didn't want to risk driving it to the nearest Mazda dealer is 6. 5 miles away, I took it to a mechanic within walking distance. He diagnosed that the air compressor seized and began melting two drive belts. He had to replace the compressor, 2 belts, refrigerant, fuse and dryer s (?) for a total about $850. Now I am reading others' complaints and see that someone was reimbursed by Mazda for this, and that there are numerous other Mazda 3 owners who have experienced the same thing. I'm very concerned about what may have happened if I'd been on the highway. Also, the smoke smelled quite acrid; was likely breathing in toxic substances. It seems like Mazda should be recalling this. I am contacting them to request that they reimburse my costs, even though I was unable to have it repaired at a dealer.
Driving on the highway at highway speed, there was a sudden loss of air pressure in the right rear tire. The tpms warning came on. On inspection the tire valve was missing, it looked sheered off. Took the car into a tire repair/replacement center and had a new tpms valve installed. I've since discovered that this is a very common failure in Mazda 3's, and likely many Mazda's. At the time, I contacted a Mazda dealer who offered no explanation as to how a valve stem can sheer clean off while driving on a flat, clean highway. All they offered was a replacement part, not warranty, even though the car was under the basic warranty at the time. Since then we've had another tire air valve sheer off on a second Mazda 3 (2009) we have. We bought 2 - 2009 Mazda 3's at the same time. The second Mazda 3 had low tire pressure. On inspection, the valve cap was removed and the valve broke off. It broke was the cap was being removed. This is a verydangerous condition as these things can sheer off any time while the car is in motion, and you have a sudden loss of tire pressure at highway speed, which is extremely dangerous. We've now experienced 2 failures on 2 cars, and one failure occurred at highway speed that resulted in a very scary experience for a younger lady of college age. This is dangerous. Mazda needs to properly address this problem and manufacture a proper valve that can be used in a very common use scenario, namely, driving during the winter months when salt is being used for safety reasons. That should not be used as an excuse as to why that part fails. Here are at least a couple of websites where you can see this problem is common. . Read more...
At 71,xxx miles 2 out of 4 the tire pressure monitor sensor valve stems have failed. The valve stem caps were oem gray plastic caps. All parts of this system on this car are oem. The valve stems corrode below where the schrader valve seal so the tires goes flat in just a few seconds.
I bought a car recently, and it had some rust on both rear wheel wells in the same exact spots. I have a 2004 Mazda 3i and I took it to about 4 body shops to have it worked on. I got prices ranging from 1000. 00 dollars to 2500. 00 dollars to fix the rust. All of these body shops said they have had at least one other person with the same car and the same complaint as I did. Mazda needs to figure out what the problem is. I can not afford to pay 1000 dollars to get my car fixed. Mazda needs to take responsibility and fix it.
A low speed rear-end collision resulted in an immediate explosion of the vehicle, causing a large external fire and smoke to enter the cabin upon impact. The structural damage to the vehicle occurred on the front-right; the fire destroyed the entire front 2/3 of the vehicle (totaling the vehicle). The concern is that such a low speed impact should not cause an explosion which could potentially have injured or killed the driver and passengers.
Mazda3 rear ended a moving truck. Mazda3 was going about 45 mph and truck was not moving. Upon impact, the Mazda3 immediately caught fire at the front of the car. Fire department had to extinguish fire. Fire damaged car. Car should not have caught fire.
The tire pressure warning light came out one week after purchasing my new Mazda 3 in July 2010. I filled the tire with air but light would come back on several weeks later. Took the car to dealer in October 2010 and they couldn't find any problems. Took it back to dealer in October 2011 and now they find a bent wheel rim. Replaced the rim at my cost -- over 350. 00. 4 weeks later, warning light comes back on. I checked the air on all tires and they are fine. My Mazda has only 6,000 miles on it. Mazda cannot seem to fix the warning light problem and they blame it on change in weather temperature! complained to the dealer and they say to bring the car back in. I refuse to pay a diagnostic fee when this is clearly a Mazda problem and the car is under warranty. I've owned Mazda cars since 1993; this is my 6th Mazda and I am very upset.
When driving to and from somewhere when I come to a stop sign or a stop light my car will shake (vibrate) alot and sometimes almost die so I have to push on the gas a little or put the car in park. Also another issue I have is my car wont always turn over. I have replaced many piecxes and have taken it to Mazda dealer ships and noone can seem to find the exact problem. They say it is an intermiten problem. This can be very dangerous especially sense I have two kids that are always in the car with me.
