My new 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback was showing signs of unusual high/irregular tire wear. The tires were rotated as per the company recommended schedule. It was found that the rear trailing arms and lower
shock bolts were loose. At 22,000 miles the front tires that had been rotated to the rear were also wearing uneven and at a high rate considering this was only more than a 5,000 mile period. The vehicle was taken to Mazda on janurary 17,2012 informing them that I had checked online and this excessive tire wear has been known by Mazda for over (5) years. The service manager confirmed this issue and Mazda has done nothing to repair/recall the vehicle. The service manager also stated that almost all of the Mazda 3 model
have the same problem. Looking through other Mazda owners who have had tires wear out at or around the 25,000 mile range that there is a fix for the problem. I. E. An adjustable camber rod which one owner had done and the car went . . . . . 60,000 miles on a set of tires. Mazda knows of this problem, has not done anything except produce more vehicles with this problem and there is a damned fix for it. . It also is amazing and damning that this adjustable rod is manufactured by. . . . . . . . . . . M a z d a. . . . I would demand an announcement and recall of these vehicles as the inside of the tire wears at an extremely high rate and for those that do not check the tire condition of their car nor to rotate the tires, this will lead to a tire failure/blowout which will create a high accident risk. Mazda knows the problem and has done nothing, make it public,demand a recall and ensure compliance to this potential serious problem is resolved. I went on a trip and had my tires rotated and no brake work had been done to my car. The dealer that rotated tires mechanic called me to look at my car and showed me that my brakes were wearing unevenly. The one on the right side had about 10mm of brake pad on it and the left side had only about 3mm of brake pad left. The mechanic instructed me to take my car back to where I bought it and have them check it out because this type of break wearing is not normal. I took it to Mazda they checked it out and stated they could not find anything wrong and that there were no other problems with this year model so hence why I am reporting my problem. Hopefully no one else has this problem with their car. Because I had a wonderful experience buying my Mazda and simply love my car. But nothing that is made in bulk in a factory is perfect and sometimes their are glitches and that is what recalls are for and warranties right that is what we pay so much money for buying brand new cars. Rear camber on left wheel is off -2. 7. Local shop says that this is too much and needs to be replaced by installing an adjustable arm since the stock parts have no adjustment. Local shop says there are no signs of any impact such as a hard hit on something or curb strike. Mazda dealerships say 99. 9 percent of the time this is because of a curb strike and it would not be covered under warranty. I became frustrated and suspicous after reading many similar complaints online. I also had to replace stock tires after 19k miles despite checking tire pressure, rotating them, etc. I thought then maybe it was due to poor quality tires but now suspect it is Mazda's negative camber issue.

After each tire rotation, ~every 10,000 miles, tire noise becomes progressively worse. At 47,000 miles, mechanic states that tires are worn unevenly, due to alignment issues.
Since I have purchased my vehicle I have to get the alignment done as often as I get the oil change done. When you are going over 45 mph the steering wheel shakes like you are driving a 4 x 4. There is also a horrible roaring once you get to 45 mph. The roaring and shaking goes away right after I have my car aligned, but, after a couple of weeks it starts coming back. I have changed the type of tires that I put on my car thinking it may help, but, it does not seem to be any different with the different type of tires I have put on my car.
The contact owns a 2008 Mazda3 sedan. He noticed that the tires were wearing faster than normal. The dealer stated that the negative camber caused the tires to wear and that they are aware of the defect; however, they cannot correct the defect. The manufacturer stated they will not offer any assistance. The current and the failure mileages were 27,514. Updated 09/23/09. Updated 09/23/09.
The "factory spec" negative camber settings on the Mazda 3 caused my tires to prematurely wear on the inside of the tread even with regular tire rotations. By the time I had 30,000 miles on the factory toyo tires the inside tread was completely bald.

2006 Mazda 3 alignment issue ruining new tires. Now Mazda claims I need a $900 front alignment repair, but can't explain why????? I've gone through 2 sets of tires in 50,000 miles???.
2007 Mazda323 lost control and hit a barrier wall. The police report stated the vehicle had a flat left front tire and steering mechanism damage that caused the consumer to lose control of the vehicle.

Bought a Mazda 3 2006. At around 17,000 miles I began to have problems with the tires. After complaining several times to the dealer, I was referred to the toyo dealers to address the warranty. I ran into major problems with them in honoring the warranty and ended up buying 4 new firestone tires at 21,000 miles. Again at around 20,000 miles, I began having the same problems. I had the tires aligned, rotated and balanced every 3,000-6,000 miles and nothing improved the wear of the tires. Neither the Mazda dealership nor the main Mazda offices were willing to do anything to remedy the problem or find a solution. I finally traded the car in 2008 and don?t plan to ever buy another Mazda in my life. I have read blogs on both the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 with the same problems. Unless one is rich and can afford tires every 17,000 miles, it is not worth the trouble you incur. You will be zoom zooming every 17,000 miles to a tire store.
Tires feather or cup in less than 25000 miles due to the rear wheel factory camber tire manufacturers do not recommend aggressive camber and will not warranty the tires for premature failure. Mazda and other manufacturers know that the aggressive camber causes tires to wear faster since they are not designed for this. The feathering drastically affect handling especially in wet weather. Tire manufacturers should state the maximum acceptable camber for their tires and manufacturers should choose appropriately design tires for this application. It is a safety issue since it happens with factory recommended alignment specs. The aggressive camber improves handling but tires are not designed for this. If the tire manufacturer will not back the tire for this application then the car manufacturer has improperly designed the suspension for passenger cars. This is the 3s model with only 135000 miles and 5th set of tires and alignment checked each time.
