The contact owns a 2006 Mazda 5. The contact was experiencing the same failures listed in NHTSA campaign number: 10v374000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included. While driving 45 mph, the steering completely failed. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure still recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 149,000.

2 Steering Failed problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Mazda 5. The contact stated when driving under 5 mph, the power steering would lock and she would have to utilize extreme bodily force to maneuver the steering wheel. The dealer replaced the entire steering pump yet the failure persisted. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 89,729 and the current mileage was 92,194.
