The contact owns a 2007 Mazda Mazda5. While parked, the contact noticed the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. The technician stated that the front driver’s side air bag would have to be replaced. Approximately three weeks after the air bag warning light illuminated, the engine warning light illuminated. The contact had not experienced a failure. The warning lights illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
The air bag light would start flashing and then disappear, but only to begin flashing again when the vehicle was in gear. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the vehicle but the flashing of the air bag light is distracting and is becoming a nuisance.
