2 Body problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 10/26/2021

The driver door handle stopped functioning on a 7-year-old low milage (<25k) Mazda 5. The malfunction is common among Mazda's and can be easily found when searching the internet. A small groove on the internal door handle mechanism breaks off and lets the spring pulling the handle back slip out. In most cases, this causes the door to be unable to open (from the outside or inside). However, in my case, the door would not latch closed anymore. Having a driver side door not close while driving is a safety issue and a vehicle where the door does not stay closed should not be operated. This problem is known to Mazda and a recall was issued for certain Mazda models in the past - but not for the 2014 Mazda 5. . Read more...

3 Body problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 04/28/2021

Rear-ended while stopped by truck going under 20 mph. Our heads struck headrests and driver and front passenger seats instantly reclined back onto front of children's car seats. They're legs would have been crushed at the knees if they were in the accident. Our necks were sore from whiplash.

4 Body problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

There is major leaking from multiple unknown sources, one place the water hides is in the spare tire wheel well and it was not evident at first as to why the car was molding on the inside. It has terrible microbial growth that is evident and I can only imagine what I cant see. The car to my knowledge has never been in any accident to cause this. Had the heater core replaced because I was told that could be a reason why there is water in floor , it was replaced and I was informed that there was nothing wrong with the original one. . That was a year ago, and it has only gotten worse . When it rains the car is soaked even when the water that is in the wheel well is sucked up. . . I have seen other similar complaints online, I just don't know what to do . I have children one that has autism and asthma and this is my only source of transportation . . . . Insurance claim was filed and they covered a carpet clean. . . The source(s) is not fixed or known!! the sunroof lines have been ruled out as well they are clean. . .

5 Body problem of the 2012 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 12/17/2019

It's very common in the Mazda 5 cars for the emission components to fail often and affects the fuel economy which causes loss of fuel, money etc. It's also a safety concern as the evap leaks could release fuel vapors to the atmosphere and polluting it. As well as fire hazards due to the fuel leaks. I've noticed many customers approaching the dealer due to this problem which kind of gives us the feeling that this a very common issue with the Mazda5 vehicles.

12 Body problem of the 2013 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 02/17/2017

While trying to open the passenger side sliding door in the winter the handle of the door broke. A plastic connector on the forward side of the handle, inside the door broke off. As I called to get a quote on repair I heard that this happens all the time. Only after I got a recall for a plastic piece on the lift gate did it occur to me that this is a safety issue. It is necessary to have a working door handle and one that will work in all circumstances.

14 Body problem of the 2008 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 12/19/2016

When temperatures drop below freezing, rear sliding doors have difficulty latching to the point where they can't be properly closed. This exact issue is described in recall #06v463000 for which my vehicle's VIN/year is not included. I would like my vehicle to be included in this recall so I can have the issue addressed by the dealer.

15 Body problem of the 2008 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 12/17/2016

Rear slider doors freeze shut. There is no way to know that this problem is going to occur until it's already an issue. At the same time, the rear slider door latching mechanism freezes in 'open' position. If the door is able to be opened and not closed, the door has to be tied shut with bungees. If the driver does not notice the open door light and the passenger does not notice that the door did not close and latch, the door will slide open when the car is moving. This happened to my driver side door in 2013 and my passenger side door on Saturday, December 19th. The 2006 Mazda 5 was recalled for this same reason (4306k).

16 Body problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 11/26/2016

Refering to a December 18, 2006 recall NHTSA campaign id number: 06v463000. Regarding a problem with the sliding door coming open when driving during cold weather. My vehicle has this problem which is gradually becoming worse as time goes by. Mazda says my VIN # was not included so they will not fix it under the recall. If that is the case and they were aware of the problem when my vehicle was manufactured, am I not correct in assuming that this modification should have be rectified before the vehicle was sold. I think Mazda should be liable to include my vehicle in as part of this recall. I live in utah.

A lady in a car pulled out in front of me from a subdivision on my right, she was headed in my opposite direction. I hit her as I attempted to swerve and miss her only projecting me further and faster to my left where there were two sets of trees and bushes. Gas pedal is too close to the brake pedal. I often have accelerated depressing the wrong pedal due to the extreme close proximity. While pulling up to the garage hit the gas pedal instead of the breaks and caused both vehicle and garage damage. I have thought to complain about this many times. The front end of the vehicle was damaged and the garage masonry has bricks and block work damage. Two of my wheels have been warped. I have only a medium foot size 10. This is dangerous for anyone.

25 Body problem of the 2006 Mazda MAZDA5

Failure Date: 06/02/2008

Update - tire wear/suspension. I contacted Mazda USA via e-mail on 5/31/13. I received a response concerning this matter and was given a canned response but it was basically "sorry for your luck" you will need to take to a Mazda dealer to see what steps "you" can take to ensure a better life for your vehicle and to try to avoid such costly repairs. There was no offer to assist. I called the rep and was basically told the same thing. I asked how many reports of the allignment/tire wear issues were reported to them and was told they would not provide that information. I've re-checked NHTSA's web page and noted these issues from 2006 to 2011 models are heavely documented. Pages and pages of the same problem exists. With the uneven tire wear of Mazda 5 vehicles happening to the inner wall of the tires, a regular driver can not see, the outside of the tire appears to have plenty of tread, while the inside of the tire is practly bald. This causes potential blow outs, and driving hazards - both my blow outs - inner wall wear! please help ASAP!.
