The contact owns a 2006 Mazda Mazda5. The vehicle was previously repaired under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 06v463000 (latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch). Approximately two years later while the vehicle was parked the contact noticed that the rear drivers side door was stuck in a partially opened position. The contact attempted to open the door from the interior and exterior but the door would not open. After repeated attempts the contact was able to open the door from the exterior. Once the door opened the door handle fractured from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the failure was not diagnosed and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 39,000 and the current mileage was 44,000. The VIN was unavailable.
2007 Mazda 5 both sliding doors would not latch when closed. The consumer stated after removing the battery cable for one minute with the hopes of resetting the electrical system controlling the locks latching mechanism, he was finally able to get the left drivers side sliding door to latch. The right side had to be held in place by the passenger in the rear seat. The consumer stated once he reached his destination, both doors started to function properly.
