Since purchase from dealer, the tires consistently developed edge wear /cupping on the inner edge of both front and back. The first set were replaced after approx 23k miles. After approx 25k miles the same pattern of wear had occurred front and back. At first when the car was purchased, alignment was inspected and I was told the matter was probably due to poor tires. With the same problem occurring again, I've contacted Mazda for assistance.

I bought 4 kumho tires sized 205 50r17 for this car in September of 2015. In August of 2017, at about 25000 miles on the tires, one of them developed what we later learned was a belt separation. The symptoms were a severe vibration, and severe pull. We replaced two of the tires. 10 months later the car developed exactly the same symptoms, and it was discovered that another of the tires had a belt separation. I replaced all 4 tires with another brand. I called kumho to report the issue, as they clearly had a bad run of tires for me to have to out of one set. The person answering the phone (warranty department) insisted that 'belt separations are common', that the recent recall was a "voluntary recall because the engineers just wanted to see the tires'. I asked to speak to someone in their safety or engineering departments. She said "we don't have anyone like that".

Corroded tire pressure sensor caused sudden loss of air and tire "exploded" while driving on freeway at highway speed. No potholes, obstructions or other impediments to cause loss of tire pressure. Result was a very dangerous situation requiring driver to cross three lanes of traffic to reach shoulder. Tire was "shredded" nearly around entire circumference, and rubber crumbled. Dealership tech said probable cause was corrosion of tire pressure sensor. Tire pressure sensor was original equipment on vehicle.

I have had 2 tire pressure monitoring valves break into 2 parts each in the past 4 months. The latest was when I was driving today on city streets. The tire pressure alarm went off so I stopped the car to check the tires. When I touched one of the valves it just came apart in my hand and I was holding part of the valve, the rest of it was still in the tire. The tire then completely deflated in about 2 seconds. This could be extremely hazardous. If you lost all tire pressure in a few seconds at 65 mph you could easily lose control of the car and get in an accident. I no longer trust the 2 valves that have yet to break so I am going to be proactive and replace them before they do break at an inopportune time. I see a lot of other complaints about the same problem on the internet. I included a picture of the piece of the valve that broke off into my hand.

We've owned our Mazda 5 2006 since 2009. There were 22,000 miles on the car when we purchased it. In 2016, it has 138,000 miles. During our ownership, we have purchased 2 new tires at 60,000, 2 new tires at 73,000, 2 new tires at 82,000, 2 new tires at 104,000, 1 tire at 107,000, 2 new tires at 116,000, and 1 new tire at 124,000. We are responsible about rotating and balancing the tires every 5-6,000 miles. The tires have been punctured on at least 3 occasions, due to uneven wear. We replaced the front struts and rear shocks at 126,000 miles in hopes of correcting uneven wear (done by the Mazda dealer). We were just notified today that one tire has again worn unevenly (on the inside, as has always been the issue. . . ) we are careful drivers and owners and have never had (not heard of) a car with these kinds of uneven tire wear problems. Most miles have been added in the city, but we have taken the vehicle on several long-distance vacations. We have all of the documentation but don't have the time to upload at this moment. Please let us know if you want the documents.

Our 2013 Mazda5 minivan have the toyo a20 all-season radial tire. Two of the four tires have the tread separating from the sidewall along the inside and outside of the tire. There is actually a line around the circumference of the tire. We had to be just a few miles from complete and catastrophic failure of two tires. The tires have 38,000 miles on them. I have heard a thump sound for the past several months and have checked the tires often but never noticed anything. I would have to wonder if the separation was only apparent while the tire was spinning and closed up when stopped until it finally began pulling apart. I have kept the two tires that have separated as well as the two that have not yet shown failure. I would like to turn them over for safety testing. These tires should not be on our nations highways.

The contact owns a 2013 Mazda Mazda5. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle started to shake violently without warning. In addition, the rear tire rim was bent. The contact also stated that in another occasion while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle rear shifted to the right, the contact had to shift the gear into fourth gear then back into drive to be able to control the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the steering handle and the sensor were replaced. The pcm system were also programmed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,211.
The tire pressure sensor illuminated and I checked to see if the tire was flat. It was not. I drove to a filling station to top off the pressure and as I was driving away from the air pump the valve stem to the rear driver side tire broke and the tire deflated instantly. The valve stem was corroded. Apparently it was initially cracked slightly causing the tire to first lose air slowly. Then, upon manipulation from the pump fitting, the stem was further damaged causing the stem to break off. I did have this happen once before. The explanation from a service station was the same. In this model the valve stem and pressure sensor is a single assembly so when the tire is changed the valve stem is not changed even if it is old and showing signs of ageing. Otherwise the cost of replacing a tire would be nearly doubled. The sensor itself will last much longer than its valve stem. Consequently, the stems do eventually corrode and break off at inconvenient, possibly dangerous, times. The service stations say this is common for this vintage of Mazda. The service rep said mine was the second they repaired on the very same day! as I said, this happened once before when a stem broke off as I was backing out of my home parking spot. A couple of days before the this reported event, I took a long road trip and a sudden deflation like this could have happened at highway speed. It would have been tragic! I have checked on-line and have found many identical complaints. If it has not been reported to NHTSA before now, I am quite amazed.
Went to inflate tires, valve stem broke and tire went completely flat. I was lucky that this happened when the car wasn't moving - I have read about the valves failing at highway speed, when it could have caused an accident.
This car was bought brand new in 2012 and had 20715 miles on the original tires, which need replacement and are unevenly worn at the inner side despite regular tire rotation. A year ago, an alignment service was performed but the right rear camber is -2. 6, out of manufacturer specification. A second alignment service was performed recently and dealer couldn't fix the problem, because the rear camber is not adjustable. This must be a manufacturer defect and I seek place to complain this issue.

Every time I took my car in to dealer for service I questioned the unusual early and uneven wear on the tires. They make a loud noise when driving. I had to replace the tires (toyo proxes) at 22,000 miles. The brakes have always shaken and vibrated since around 17,000 miles. This will occur at high speeds on the interstate and at low speeds. The brake pads are fine. Normal wear on all parts of vehicle. Again very unusual early warping of the rotors for no reason. I feel both are manufacturer defects and should have been replaced at no charge to me. Currently I only have 35,200 miles on my 2012 Mazda and I purchased it in July of 2011. I will probably never purchase another Mazda because I even purchased additional warranty coverage and they do not cover anything for you. I see other people on here have had the same complaints but when you go to the dealer to have it serviced they look at you like you have 3 heads. Todays date 10/25/2015.

Gas pedal is too close to the brake pedal. I often have accelerated depressing the wrong pedal due to the extreme close proximity. While pulling up to the garage hit the gas pedal instead of the breaks and caused both vehicle and garage damage. I have thought to complain about this many times. The front end of the vehicle was damaged and the garage masonry has bricks and block work damage. Two of my wheels have been warped. I have only a medium foot size 10. This is dangerous for anyone.
Mazda5 2008 wearing inside of tires prematurely and cupping. Outside edge of tires reported to still have 15000 miles left of use. Second set of tires purchased with same problem. Grinding noise every time dealer rotated and aligned the tires every 5k miles during oil change. I was accused of not rotating tires enough; however, now they admit the alignment is a common problem with Mazda5. Dealer only recommends I get a "special" german engineering style alignment that costs $89 every 10k miles. I am forced to pay for their poor design.
Tires make noise at 25+mph. Also tried to rotate them, but the inside thread worn unevenly (also mentioned here by others). The tire shop said that shocks need to be replaced, called Mazda, but they don't cover shocks/struts under power train protection. Also a major clunk at front suspension, mechanics can't figure out.
Tpms sensor-valve failure: I was driving to work going about 40 mph when tpms light went on. I could not pull off immediately because of road conditions. Shortly after that I could hear the sound of a very flat tire. When I managed to pull off and check the tires, one was completely flat. Tire was too damaged to re-inflate. The relatively new tire and the tpms sensor had to be replaced.
Tpms sensor-valve slow leak: four new tires (pirelli p6 four seasons) installed at Mazda dealer on Jan 2011. The original tpms sensor-valves where used on the new tires. After that the tpms warning light would go on every couple of weeks. I would check the pressure in all the tires using a digital gauge which showed slightly low pressure (high 20?s psi) in one tire, the same tire each time. I would inflate the tire to the correct pressure. One reason I am reporting this is that there is a well-documented history of tpms sensor valves breaking easily when putting air in the tire. The more one has to inflate the tires the more likely the tpms sensor-values will break.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Mazda, Mazda5 equipped with yokohama avid envigor tires (na), tire size 205/50/17. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact encountered a pothole and a loud bang sounded outside of the vehicle. The steering wheel began to vibrate. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and towed to an authorized dealer where they informed the front and rear passenger side tires exhibited substantial tread separation and caused the tires to completely deflate. As a result of the failure there was excessive damage to both wheel rims. The technician replaced the rear and passenger side tires and both rims. The manufacturer was not made aware of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 43,684. The dot number and VIN was unavailable. Js.

(5/2010) at my local Mazda dealer during routine rotation maintenance of my tires I observed unusual ware on the inner areas of the tire tread areas and a grove carved on the inner sides of the tires. The grove was exposing areas of the steel belt of the tires. The first recommendation from Mazda was to replace the tires, soon. After speaking with the Mazda service rep he informed me that this issue has been known to occur in Mazda 3s and that Mazda came out with a longer upper control arm to help correct the alignment issue with the tires. The Mazda dealer inquired and found no recalls or bulletins with the Mazda 5 that could help me pay for the new, longer upper control arms for the rear of my car. They did find evidence that supported this alignment issue with Mazda 3s. My cost to replace the upper control arms in the rear of the car would be approximately $400. At that time I paid to have my vehicles tires realigned at the Mazda dealer & purchased 4 new bridgestone tires from a reputable tire garage 2 weeks later. (12/2010) six months later the same wearing of the tires was noticed during routine rotation maintenance of my tires. The Mazda dealer again recommended that I purchase the longer upper control arms to see if that corrects the issue. (1/2011) I then contacted Mazda corporate. They were sympathetic and agreed that this issue was not an anomaly; however, they were unable to assist me. They commented that since the dealer suggested this correction to the issue, they should probably help me. The Mazda dealer told me that it is a Mazda corporate issue. I drive my Mazda 5 in constant fear that the tires will blow out and I will get in an accident. This should not be. Mazda told me that the correction is new longer control arms. This is a Mazda safety issue. Why would I have pay for the defective upper control arm to not drive my car in fear of blowing tires?.
Purchased 06 Mazda 5 touring in 8/2007 - had first problem with tires - had blow out on highway - pulled off road - husband came and noted the inner wall of tire was worn badly and blew - on outsude tires appeal fine but was told all 4 tires needed replaced due to wear on inner walls. Replaced - 1. 5 years later - smae inner wall wear issues - replaced tires. 1 year later - replace front struts - 6 months later - replaced front two tires due to inner wall wear. 1 year later replace all four tires due to inner wall wear - told today that I will need new tires once again. . . . Same issue, inner wall wear - also told I will need new front and rear suspension. Per multiple sites, this appears to be an ongoing issue and creates saftey risks. . . . Needs to be addresses by Mazda ASAP!.
