I noticed my vehicle was starting to drive funny. I keep up on it very well, routine maintenance, wash it often, fresh alignments, new tires when needed. So I thought something was up and took it into a garage. I was called the next day and was told I had a hole in my passenger side right subframe. I was very surprised by this because the car is very clean underneath for the year and in good condition compared to the usual new york rust. I did some research and this is a ongoing problem with these cars around my year and sadly many people have experienced this. My vehicle has no recalls and Mazda doesn't want to take care of the bill so sadly I'm stuck with a car that should be recalled.
I received a paper saying it was recalled.
The rear suspension of this car is weird, in that it is lower on one side. In my case, the rear right side of my car is lower and the fenders hit my wheel when I hit a dip in the road or have a passenger in the back seat. This is very dangerous because it wears out the tire and could eventually rip it open putting many on the road at risk. It is not the shocks or the springs because I replaced both of those on both sides. I have read of many cases like mine online and would like Mazda to take responsibility for this hazard.
I was driving home from work today. I was driving on a road not far from my home and going about 40 mph. My foot was not on the gas but the car began to suddenly accelerate. It suddenly accelerated to over 50 mph. I began to brake, but it felt like I was trying to brake at the same time someone was pressing hard on the gas pedal. I put the car in neutral and pressed the brake as hard as I could. It was a definite hard push on the brake -- as if I had lost power brakes. There were cars ahead of me stopped in the road because of an accident. I managed to stop -- but barely. I almost hit the car in front of me after finally stopping my car when it surged forward several feet while my foot was firmly on the brake. I managed to get my car on the side of the road and put it in park. The engine continued to rev up and down as if I was about to start drag racing even though I did not have my foot on the gas pedal. This continued until I turned the engine off. When I turned the engine back on, the revving had stopped. A similar, but briefer incident happened a few weeks ago. I had to put the car in neutral, brake as hard as I could and use my emergency brake to stop the car. This issue happened the first time about 3 years ago. I almost ran into the plate glass window of a store. When I was able to stop the car and put it in park, the engine revved repeatedly (very, very high that time) and did not stop until I turned off the vehicle. I took the car to the Mazda dealership. They called in engineers and could never replicate the problem and said it was unlikely to ever occur again. Well now it has occurred twice in the past few weeks. This is an incredibly dangerous safety issue. Someone will be hurt or killed. I see that the Mazda tribute has been recalled for a similar issue. People complain on the internet of this issue with the Mazda 6. Please help!.
The car was parked for around 5 hours last driven around 10:30pm awoken to screams of a fire in condo complex car was in flames fully engulfed destroyed two condo's and 4-5 cars. . My Mazda6 was the source per two different insurance investigators. One investigator stated that the car's wiring may have been the cause. . As the batter was destroyed and all electrical lines were severely burned. Another investigator positively confirmed the fire started towards the left rear of the car. The car had just came back from a day trip and was used most of the day prior to the fire. My investigation into Mazda 6's and fires turned up a surprising amount. . . Searching *salvage Mazda6* in my year range turned up a large amount of vehicle fires. . . With the same burn characteristics. When I awoke to my car on fire the car horn was stuck on, and the headlights were mysteriously on also. . . I have photos of this and the stages of the fire and the aftermath. . It even made local news. . . I do believe there are problems with these cars. . . This car was dealer serviced and was always given an inspection. . . Yes this was a year ago, but I do believe there was a malfunction with the car. I have plenty of photos of the car ect avalible. Attached is just one of the many news coverage of the scene. Car was a clean title dealer maintained vehicle showing no signs of malfunctions. . Read more...
