When vehicle is turned off the engine cooling fan sounds like the car in still running. . . It revs up and back down and it keeps repeating this three or four times. I thought the hood was going to blow off but the temperature gauge inside the car does not say it is overheating. I believe this the result of a faulty cooling fan control module. This control module should really be recalled because it is probably causing other problems and it is kind of scary when your car in sitting in your garage turned off but keeps getting louder and louder.
I noticed the cooling fan coming on every time I turn the car on and it doesn't turn off for several minutes after the car is turned off. The engine is running in the normal temperature range, so I don't think the fan should be running constantly. I took the car to my mechanic, who notified me of a recall by Mazda for the fan control module for the same production year and the same make/model. I reached out to Mazda, but they notified me my VIN didn't fall in the range of the recall. It seems odd that the same product would have the same issue in the same car but not be covered by the recall. I wanted to notify the NHTSA of the issue in hopes that Mazda would resolve the issue. Thanks.
