Tl the contact owns a 2009 Mazda 6. While driving 20 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming the engine compartment and the steering wheel became difficult to turn without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine crossmember was corroded and cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer (ralph thayer Mazda, 34601 Plymouth rd, livonia, mi 48150, (734) 425-5400) was contacted to schedule an appointment for a second diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer informed the contact that she could be reimbursed if she got the vehicle repaired. The failure mileage was 132,000.
