1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2020

I started noticing cracks on the dashboard on the passenger side where the airbag deploys. My vehicle was stationary when I noticed ththe cracks the following morning. I am concerned that the airbag might accidentally go off with the slightest vibrations or closing of the vehicle doors.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2020

The crack started small on the passenger side dashboard but is getting worse everyday. It keeps getting bigger and bigger.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2015

Since I have owned car, gradual deterioration of interior components to include safety item; cracked rear-view mirror, ceiling sunglasses holder (blocks rear-view mirror, change holder (hit every time get into car), seat track cover (danger of putting finger inside), and steering wheel plastic loose. I have images of the remaining items, although file size prevented upload and can send under separate cover.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

The passenger side dashboard is melting. The melted are is very shiny and sticky and leaves residue on windshield if touched by window shade. There doesn't seem to be any improvement since window shade has been used. Dashbaoard also seems to be cracking in the area surrounding airbag.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

This vehicle does not track straight, even on a level road. At highway speeds (above 50 mph) it has a decided pull to the left, regardless of the lateral slope of the road. Constant clockwise pressure on the steering wheel is necessary in order to keep vehicle from drifting in a leftward direction. If driver attention is diverted for only an instant the vehicle is likely to partially intrude into the lane to the left, which on an undivided highway could be an oncoming traffic lane (hence the safety issue). I called this to the attention of my Mazda dealer's service department at least twice within the first year after purchase (January 2010). Their answer was no answer--they could not find anything wrong mechanically and there were no bulletins from Mazda on the subject. They verified the alignment and rotated the tires left to right, but neither of these solved the problem. Nearly five years later the problem still exists and seems even more pronounced than it was originally. A recent check with the dealer indicated that there is still nothing from Mazda. Possibly it is a defect that applies only to my car and not in general to that model, but I have no way of determining that at this point.
