Car developed a known recall issue problem, recall 2818i. Even though nebraska was not listed as a "salt state", it's obvious that nebraska has similar conditions to iowa. Attempts to contact Mazda USA corporate would not even fix the issue, citing cars age and other factors even though the damage is very specific to this particular recall.
When I took the car into my ase mechanic shop for a normal oil change and tire rotation, they performed a general overall car inspection. They noticed that the driver side rear subframe had rusted through completely, where the coil spring is located. The passenger side was rusted, but has not yet broke through. They stated that the subframe parts should not rust through like this. They also stated that it is dangerous to drive the car in this condition. I have not notified the manufacturer as of yet, but plan to do so. There were no warning lights, but the ride did seem to be rougher than normal. The attach photos contain 2 photos of the failed driver side rear subframe and 1 photo of the good, passenger side rear subframe.
Bought. A 2011 Mazda 6, and took it to a Mazda dealer for an inspection. They found the rear sub frame ie rear cradle to be extremely rusted out, the shocks on both side are detached, and the springs look like they may push through at any point and do more damage. The car is unsafe to drive and the dealer estimated a repair cost or $4322. 99 to fix.
Rear k frame is completely rusted out. You investigated the front frame rust issues on these cars which resulted in a Mazda recall. However, the rear frame with the same structure weaknesses was left out. As a result Mazda is refusing to fix or replace thousands of vehicles. Mazda forums are full of drivers with this same exact issue. If these frames start to fail while being driven I see the potential for injuries or loss of life.
Crossmember rust causing a hole which effects driving the vehicle, because of the safety issue.
One day we noticed the dash was becoming more and more sticky and didn’t know what was happening until watching a recent video about Mazda’s having a melting dash.
Dashboard became sticky as if melting.
My Mazda 6 interior dash is melting in 74 degree weather in va. The dash is melting and making a sticky mess that may cause a glare on windshield while driving. Car is stationary.
While driving to work on 290 in the morning traffic doing speeds around (30-50mph) the steering wheel began progressively rotating counter-clockwise with the vehicle pulling drastically to the right. The dynamic stability control turned off as if the vehicle was out of control and the vehicle acted as if it were on icy/slick surfaces no longer providing support to the driver. The steering/braking system began to struggle nearly causing an accident on the expressway causing a fishtail with the abs attempting to engage. At this point the steering wheel was registering straight’ with the steering wheel turned approximately 90 degrees left. thankfully I was able to exit the expressway and pull into a just tires shop, who informed me the front subframe has rusted completely thru and even twisted due to the corrosion. Now my 2011 Mazda6 is not drivable and hopefully NHTSA will force Mazda to do a recall for subframes before someone is killed in an accident.
Frame/engine cradle has hole next to lower control arm due to rust.
The vehicle's car alarm goes off at random times. Generally it seems to happen only in warmer weather and/or only if the key fob is within a certain distance. So far changing batteries in both the car and the key fob have not changed anything. There appears to be flaw in the door mechanisms that make the car think someone is breaking in due to loss of contact when the car has been locked. This only happens when the car is parked and locked by any method. It does not happen if the vehicle is let unlocked or in cooler temperatures. This issue has been ongoing for the past three years.
Melted dashboard. I've seen on news about company having them replaced.
Melting dashboard. Causing glare and distraction from driving.
The ac compressor clutch locked up and caused the belt to make loud screeching noises. Also, something burning could be smelled inside the engine and burnt rubber was flung around the engine compartment. Another issue: read about this a lot because I am experiencing it, the passenger-side dash is melting. Seems they used a cheap material and when it gets above 80 degrees outside the dash begins to melt. It is sticky, leaves a residue on your fingers, and produces an extreme glare. The ac went out while I was in the drive-through ordering food. The dash board has been melting since last summer and has not gotten any better. Stopped melting during the winter and began melting now that it's summer again.
Melting dashboard. Causing glare and some weird smell. .
My 2011 Mazda6 is in excellent condition. However, the dashboard on the passenger side has and is melting causing a very bad glare that obstructs ones view. I've read there's been many complaints and class action lawsuits. Mazda needs to do what's right for their consumers and put their safety first! my son is using this car for college and just sent me pictures of the glare he sees. Something needs to be done before lives are lost.
Sometime around the beginning of June I thought my children had spilled something on the passenger dash by the windshield. It turns out it is not a spill, the dash is sticky, shiny, and it is soft and melting. I can stick my nail into the dashboard; it is like hot black asphalt where you walk with heels and the heel goes into the black asphalt. Since I realized this, the area that is soft, sticky/melting is progressing farther down the dash toward the glove box. My car has 46,000 miles and is out of warranty with Mazda. Additionally I had a headlight on the front driver side out; after researching on youtube, I found out that I can bang the clear headlight shield with my hand and the light turns back on. These are the two issues I am alerting about as there are numerous accounts of corroboration on the web and youtube from Mazda owners about both these same problems.
The 2011 Mazda 6 has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear leading to a hard jerk to all passengers. The car seems to jump at times or feels like some one hit it from the back. I have checked online, and it seems to be a problem with many Mazda 6.
My 2011 Mazda 6 had the exhaust system become detached twice within 3. 5 years. I purchased the car new. I heard it the first time as I was driving slowly, luckily. I was able to pull over and make it home so I could tie it up with rope to get to a repair shop. The 2nd time I was pulling out of home when I heard the same scraping noise. I luckily could pull back home to tie it up and to get to a repair shop. When I was at the repair show last time, the mechanic said that this is a reoccurring problem with Mazda 6 bolts rotting out. I am just glad I was driving on the highway and higher speeds when this happened. It could have caused a fire.
I had to replace the batteriess on both remotes that open the doors at least 4 times a year since I owned the car. I feel this is a safety hazard since I can not get in my car unless I use the key. I also have no access to the emergency button on the remote with a dead battery.
