The incident occurred while operating a diligently maintained 2014 Mazda 6 touring, overseen by dealership service. While driving, the check engine light illuminated, prompting an immediate halt. Upon inspection, a concerning observation was made: the coolant level was significantly low. Despite no apparent leaks, further examination revealed a crack in the cylinder head, allowing coolant to mix with the oil. This issue, specific to Mazda's 2. 5l skyactiv engine, has been identified as a manufacturing defect, independent of overheating. Notably, this problem has been echoed by multiple users, confirming the presence of defective cylinder heads in these vehicles. This flaw necessitates an expensive repair, absolving the vehicle owner of any responsibility. Despite the widespread occurrence of this issue, Mazda has declined to issue a recall for vehicles equipped with these faulty cylinder blocks. Online forums and discussions have highlighted numerous instances of identical cracks in the same location, affirming the prevalence of this problem with Mazda's 2. 5l engines. This poses a serious concern for vehicle safety and warrants attention from both Mazda and vehicle owners. Additional information regarding this issue can be found through the provided links. . Ignition does not turn off when pressing start / stop button - please see attached Mazda invoice.
Vehicle push to start fails when shutting off car. The car's not reading that it is in park. Engine will shut off but all vehicle electronics will stay on and car can still be shifed out of gear. Dealership replaced gear selector switch which they said had a faulty spring.
While accelerating on 2 occasions in past 2 months, the engine will lose power without warning. It is still running but will not go faster than about 10 miles an hour. The first time occured while pulling out on a road and almost caused a collision and the second time was on a busy interstate while passing a vehicle and had to coast to the side of the road. The engine light flashes and the stability control light comes on. It will work normally after restarting the engine and it clears the lights. I had it looked at by a Mazda dealership the first time and they said it was a cracked spark plug and replaced it. However, the problem just happened again. . Please investigate as this is a significant safety concern!.
This incident has happened about 10 - 15 times in the 6 months I have had this car. It occurs when the vehicle is stopped at a traffic signal, stuck in traffic, or any other time when the transmission is in drive and the brake is used to keep the vehicle stationary. The engine will be turning at idle speed when suddenly it revs to 4-5k rpm causing the car to leap forward, overpowering the brake. This has almost resulted in a crash several times as suddenly the car moves forward rapidly. I have noticed a small tendency for this to occur in the first few minutes of driving but it has happened anytime. I have seen no correlation to outside temperature. I have noticed perhaps a small increase in frequency when the car is stopped after high speed driving such as highway driving.
