Mazda MAZDA6 owners have reported 47 problems related to wheel (under the wheel category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mazda MAZDA6 based on all problems reported for the MAZDA6.
Car developed a known recall issue problem, recall 2818i. Even though nebraska was not listed as a "salt state", it's obvious that nebraska has similar conditions to iowa. Attempts to contact Mazda USA corporate would not even fix the issue, citing cars age and other factors even though the damage is very specific to this particular recall.

I just baught a 2013 Mazda6 the rear cradel and cross member was complety rusted away one mount was complety rusted off . The springs was almost ready to fall out the bottem of the spring purch . It looked like it was pulled out of the ocean where it had stayed for years . I tried to find a used replacement out of several we found from 10-13 and going thru national salvage parts we can not find one that was not rusty away all the Mazda6 frams were so rusted they could not be used . Why is this not on the recall list if all I could find are rusted out parts that is a safty hazzard to have on the road.

The front subframe totally rusted out and the wheel disconnected. I purchased this car in 2009, but it was a 2008 vehicle. Apparently there was a recall on this part for the 2009 through 2018 vehicles but it did not include the 2008, which had the exact same problem. My car was kept in the garage its entire life and the last 10 years, I was retired and did not even drive it in the snow. The car only has 79,000 miles. Even if my car was not included in the recall, you would think the manufacturer would have notified me of the flaw and the danger. I sold this car to my nephew in February of this year and he was deriving it when the wheel fell off and separated from the subframe. He could have been killed. Had I know the issues with this vehicle, I would never have sold it to him and would have just traded it in. I believe that we are owed some type of compensation from the dealer for this. Fortunately he was not driving on a highway when this happened. We have a quote of $1400 to replace this part and weld it back on.

* drivers side (worst) and passenger side rear lower control arm. Both are available for inspection upon request. * the drivers side rear lower control arm rusted through and cracked near the point where it connects to the rear subframe. The right lower control arm did not yet visibly crack (it's still on the vehicle), but it is also severely rusted. If driven and either completely separated, loss of control as well as flying debris on the road would have been nearly certain. * I cannot drive the car to a dealer or service center. The problem is visibly obvious and online owners forums anecdotally indicate the problem is widespread. * the component is available for inspection. I have shown my mechanic and intend to take to a dealer. Because there was no accident or injury, thankfully, I have no cause for engaging police or insurance. * there was no warning/indicator in the vehicle. The first symptom of trouble was severe wear on the inside of the left rear tire. The vehicle then had a four-wheel alignment and suspension components were noted to be tight and adjusted into spec at that point. Some weeks later, we heard disturbing noises from the rear as we went over even small bumps in the road. We noticed the suspicious sound during a local drive and drove gently and directly home, so cannot say how much the partial break may have affected control at that point. Upon inspection, the rusted & cracked steel of the driver's side control arm was readily visible. Other notes: the rear subframe itself shows significant flaking and rust in comparison to the rest of the vehicle's undercarriage, but at least there appears to be more substance left to the metal of the subframe. Photos & measurements available upon request.

While im driving the steering is shifting to the right and seems lower on right side. My tires daily need to have air in them because of the uneven weight. While I drive and let go of the gas the car pulls back like an e brake could be stuck not sure though. No accidents at all but it seems like the vehicle is getting weaker and weaker with the uneven weight going down on the tires and steering seems like it's going to crash onto the right without being able to control it.

The wheels were turning in and the steering was really hard to keep straight had to turn the steering wheel almost half around car make loud screaming noises. Tires went flat . . I have 6 grandkids lucky I wasn't going fast the car could of flipped . Subframe broke in half on passenger side rusted right out. I got this car from right way dealership in saginaw michigan in March of 2019 they never told me or never contacted me that there was a recall for the subframe breaking. Could of killed someone!!!!.
Water leak in trunk area leading to about a 2-inch puddle of water accumulation inside the trunk at the location of the spare tire area. Issue was noticed on April 16, 2021. The water accumulated on top and at the bottom of the spare tire. The parts of the vehicle are beginning to be negatively affected --mold, etc. There were items stored around the spare tire e. G. Flat tire repair kit, emergency blanket, etc. That developed mold due to the accumulated water and were thrown away upon inspection. In addition to the spare tire area accumulating several inches of water, the spare the cover (I. E. Plastic honeycomb type that sits directly on top of the spare tire) is affected with the evaporation/condensation of the accumulated water. All other parts of the trunk and vehicle are were not wet to the touch. The source of the water is unknown. And it was not a user error type of issue the vehicle has been stored with all windows, doors, trunk, and hood closed. Concern is that the accumulation of water will lead to the development of mold inside the vehicle and an unhealthy environment for the driver and passengers occupying the car. Additionally, it will lead to vehicle corrosion since the area where the water accumulates is not intended to be consistently holding water. Attached are several photos showing the affected area. Note that the photos only show the accumulated water that was underneath the spare tire after the water accumulated on top of the spare tire (inner section of the spare tire metal wheel which lays up when stored in the vehicle's trunk), close to 2-inches worth, was removed along with the spare tire itself. I did not think of taking photos of the issue until after I removed the spare tire and the accumulated water. Please look into the matter and consider issuing a recall that would allow Mazda to correct the problem. Thank you.

I got this car in may of 2019 so the car is still new and ever since I purchased the vehicle I've been having issues with it first were the calipers sticking and Mazda gave me a hard time to repair the issue after the fact knowing that it was a manufacturing isssue and still tried to charge me I took my vehicle there more then 15 times just to deal things going bad in my car. My car stalls on me out of no where when I'm driving which is dangerous and can cause me to crash also my car brakes when there isn't anything in front of it all my malfunctioning indicators are on and I have video proof and showed it to my service advisor and service manager and they still didn't repair my car and told me that I have to pay or go somewhere else also my suspension is making noises they didn't want to fix it and as well as my tires peeling off from the sun already and they say it's wear and tear and ask me for money also my car dies everytime I turn it off I have to either get a jump or call roadside for assistance I've been dealing with issues with this car and Mazda clearly doesn't care about there customers safety and always ask for money when the vehicle is still under warranty very disappointed I'm still driving the car with all the. Issues it was because Mazda won't repair my car and always try to pin the issue on me when knowing that it's there fault I took it to Mazda several times and notified them on what's wrong with my car and my car stayed there for 4 days and they did nothing to my car just sitting there for nothing I pay too much money a month and feel like it's for no reason because my safety is at risk I hate driving my car because I feel unsafe and scared and going to Mazda is pointless please help me on what to do thanks.

About 28000 miles on my car over the past 2 and a half years, what started with a persistent low tire pressure indication that none of the dealerships or tire shops recognized as a major issue (simply pointed out that as weather changes the sensors may detect low pressure) has turned into the tires systematically being worn and blown out before their life expectancy. . Rings are forming around the entire circumference of the tire and causing a large circular rip through the tire on the outer wall. So far my front driver tire was blown out from a small pothole which understandably caused the tire wall to completely rip and needed complete replacement. Not even 2 weeks later my rear driver tire gave out while in the parking lot and stationary, my passenger side tires are showing a similar ring pattern (it is very faint and difficult to capture on a picture) that leads me to believe there could be a defect in the stock tires included with my car. Photo of most recent tire blowout attached for visual of the wear pattern on the tire. This occured at approx 28000 miles on the car with stock tires and regular maintenance.
There is a red light indicator saying that the tires are not balanced. The light on the radio panel is on even after the car has been switched off.

Last week the while driving the car it was felt that the vehicle was going out of control and a metallic knocking sound was coming from the front right side. After parking the vehicle it was noticed that the front right tire had completely deflated. But he tpms did not show any abnormality ever during the drive. The tire was damaged to an extent that it had to be replaced. Thankfully this happened at a low speed and it appears that the tpms sensors (on which there was an earlier recall) is not working correctly.

In August 6th, 2018, I was driving back from work with my 4y old son in quebec city at 50 km/h. When I want to stop at the red-light I sensed a significant loss of steering control to the right and I was completely shocked because I was just about to hit a cyclist. And my son was frustrated too. Luckily nothing bad happened. But from there I wasn't able to drive correctly, I held the steering wheel to 60 degrees to the left while going at 25 km/h to be able to drive straight and get back to my home. The following day I drove my car to the nearest garage, and to my surprise, the guy told me that the subframe at the right near to the wheel is completely corroded and the steering rack was separated from its mounts causing the steering loss. The garage owner told that he called Mazda to ask for a new subframe for me, but they told him that they don't have it in stock and they have already 5 more people with the same problem waiting for that. Knowing that I do rust check and treatment before every winter. I am very thankful to god that nothing bad happened while I was traveling with my family during our holidays. Mazda should recognize this as a serious and very dangerous defect since it is happening for a lot of people.
This car was bought used. After suspension inspection I found out that the front subframe is extremely rusty and immediate replacement is necessary. According to the body condition there were no any incidents which may affected the subframe condition. Further driving with this is dangerous.
Car suddenly veered right on the highway and scraped both fenders and the mirror against a cement barricade. Steering has been unpredictable. While elevated on jack stands with both front wheels hanging, crouched facing the right passenger side tire, the tire can be gripped with the left hand on the rear facing tread and right hand on the front facing tire tread, then moved in and out with large amounts of play, wobble, and clunking noises. There is also a large amount of noise and clunking coming from the area where the streering " linkage" ( term?) connects to the hydraulic rack when the front of the car is on jackstands and the steering wheel is moved to both extremities. The hydraulic steering rack appears to flex left and right when the car is on the ground in the normal driving position and the steering wheel is moved to both extremities. The left drivers side wheel bearing is in need of replacement. While assessing that is when the extreme rusting of the front subframe was noticed, along with a huge rust hole on the right passenger side as described by others. Very close to the attachment of the lower a-arm of the same side. Car was purchased new from dealership with 1500 miles by an in household family member and has had all/nearly all of its scheduled dealership maintenance at the place or purchase up untill the beginning/middle 2017. Afterwhich I recieved the vehicle. This was all noticed on or aprox July 1st 2018 and the car hasnt been driven since.
I purchased a 2017 Mazda 6 grand touring in July 2017, new from classic Mazda in mentor, ohio. The dunlop tires that came on my care are complete garbage and unsuitable to drive on in the rain. They begin to hydroplane with even the slightest amount of water on the road, and are down right dangerous in any weather more severe than light rain. There have been dozens of instances of white-knuckle driving 10-15mph slower than the rest of traffic because the car becomes underivable in the rain. I have never driven a vehicle or tires that performed this poorly nor had such a stark transition from feeling planted and confidence inspiring in the dry to sliding off the road when it rains. These tires are going to get me injured or killed! as bad as they are brand new on a brand new car, I shudder to think what it will be like as these begin to wear!!.

This is a complaint about the milestar tires, not the car. I have milestar ms 932 tires and these tires have about 5,000 miles on them. I was driving about 65 mph on the freeway when the tread of the front driver-side tire separated from the rest of the tire. The tread was whipping around and caused extensive damage to the front wheel well and I lost my brake fluid. I was lucky that no one in the car was injured. I don't think I hit a foreign object or a pothole. I went to the tire retailer twice but he didn't do anything. I sent a letter and an e-mail to tireco, the parent company of milestar, but they never responded either. Thank you.

While driving my car on 4/16/2017 and going through a toll booth on the PA turnpike the car suddenly pulled to one side and the air alert went off. I pulled over immediately and found the front left tire was flat. As I was changing the tired I found that the sidewalls on the outer and inner aspect had completely separated from the treads. The tire sidewalls completely disintegrated around the entire circumference on both sidewalls. Almost like a retreaded tire does. This is a complete tire failure at 9,100 miles and driving slowly through a toll booth. If this had happened at a high rate of speed I probably would have lost total control of my car. See photos attached.
While driving on the highway, the wheel cylinder became totally detached from the wheel face causing the car to jerk uncontrollably and difficult to steer. Immediately pulled to shoulder for safety. There is no damage to face of rim but the wheel cylinder that mounts the tire is totally detached from the wheel face. Vehicle purchased new in may has 30000 miles on it.
I bought a used car with 2 dashboard light tmps & engine the dealer give me extra warranty but never been repair furthermore I find out by myself a recall for the outer door handles after the door open while I driving in the express way this happened to my youngest daughter; and in other 2 incidents the car do not respond with the appropriate speed causing me a big chance of accident afterwards it is happened again so due to to other several mechanic problems and for security I have to decided to return the car now I have no money no car and a big problem I am having hardly time tried to summit my concerns because I think the dealers are responsible for sale security cars before the sale but apparently the laws are in the dealers side as a consumer I hope maybe some one can see how this irresponsible dealers play with the consumers safety. I pay over $3,000 in repairs by my self and I have been around 90 days with out car and all this problems in a period of time of 26 months plus my payments to the dealer that was $460,00 a month this issue start on 12-6-13 to 02-26-16 after the car need a new repair at cost of $3,000 so in the reality this company was negligent when they fail to properly repair the car since the beginning they just pretend to fixed but wasn't . I want to thank you for your time.
I was driving to work in my 2015 madza6 when I noticed the car is swerving a bit to the right. I thought my car had a small alignment problem. So I continue driving as I did not see here any beeps and there's no warning on my dashboard. It was about 3 to 4 miles later when all of the sudden, the car was swerving a bit to the left and right and I can hear growling sound which seems to come from the tires. I was driving at about 45 mph at that time and there were some snow and ice on the road due to the 3 to 4 inches of snow overnight. Without hesitating, I drove to a nearby parking lot and checked my car. Yap! I had a flat tire on the front passenger side. If that's is so, why didn't the tire pressure monitoring system (tps) gave me a beep and lights up on the dashboard? also, I remembered taking my car to the suburban madza6 dealer in troy michigan sometime in December 2014 to have the tps fixed due to a madza recall. So why isn't the tps on my car working? my odometer shows only about 8065 miles when this happens. I changed the flat tire with my spare and took the flat tire to discount tire (248-3931900) in auburn hills, mi and unfortunately, they told me my tire is bad as it was driven for quite a distance with low tire pressure. The tire still has about 80 to 90% thread on it. The next morning, I complained to madza USA (1-800-2225500) about the tire pressure monitoring system. I explained to jessie whom I spoke to about what happened. The case number is 1-1-91037814. He checked my car record and admit I did have the tps recall done. But he said there is a recent tps recall but I was not notified through mail or phone. I told jessie that madza should be responsible for the defective tps and should also pay for my tire. Instead he only give me a $100 coupon to be used for madza product and services. I hope to record this complaint for other madza6 owners.
I have a 2016 Mazda 6 gt with stock 19" dunlop tires. I bought the car with around 80 miles & at the time of the incident was around 6800 miles. I was traveling to work going around 72 mph & the left rear tire blewout causing an accident on the interstate. Tires should not blowout that quickly with proper care of the vehicle. The tire tread wore too fast.
Within 17 hours of each occurrence, two tpms (tire pressure monitoring sensors) had broken from corrosion causing a sudden loss of air in the tire, resulting in a flat tire and dangerous highway driving situation. Both tires had adequate air before the incidents that had just been checked before the trip. The remaining two tpms were also badly corroded when inspected and were replaced.
Coming home from vacation on interstate highway large explosion. The rim blew out and the tire with it. There was no road hazard that we hit. The hole in the rim is approx. 3-4" and 6-8" split in the rim.
While driving home from the shore today going 70mph I heard a popping sound and within 15 second my 2015 Mazda 6 13,000 miles was out of control I barley made it crossing four lanes of traffics to get onto the shoulder. Once I exited the car I noticed the left rear tire p245/65r19 sport was the issue upon further examnation I noticed the tire broke off approx 1" above where the dot numbers are located. The inside of tire to the rim also broke off completely from the rim. The tire was still completely round but was separated from the rim. Still approx 2" of the rubber was still attached to the both sides of the rim. I took numerous pictures of the tire and rim. I'm now afraid the three remaining tires may still have this type of defect. I was a police officer for the past 35 years and would occasionally travel well over 100mph while performing my duties and not once in those 35 years did I ever experience a tire separating from the rim like today. I really feel that if this happened to an average driver that driver would've completely loss control of the vehicle and could've been seriouslly injured or death to him or to other drivers. Please respond back to me ASAP. I also would like to know how I can send you the pictures I took on iphone. . Read more...
I am the second owner of this vehicle. Its a 2010. I went to the dealership to see why I was hearing noises when I drive and was advised the wheel bearings where loose. How is that possible? this vehicle is not even 5 years old. Per my reseach, these things at supposed to lose for the life of the vehicle. Its only been 5 years. How is this possible?.
2 valve stems from the tpms sensors are leaking air. That provoked an instant loss of total air pressure in the tires !!!! this is extremely dangerous if it happens on the interstate at high speeds. It seems Mazda has a service bulletin sb-02-001-12 but not a recall at this time (March 4 2015) from 4 tpms sensors on the 2009 Mazda 6, two (2) of them failed one day after another. Both sensors failed at the valve stem. Had to replace all 4 sensors due to being afraid this sudden loss of air pressure could happend at 60 miles/h on the interstate. The manufacturer of the tpms sensors is continental and they already have a different part # for the sensor (continental vdi redi-sensor se10001hp-az). Also Mazda has a different part # for the new sensors: bbm2-37-140b. I was surprised how Mazda didn't issue a recall by now. I've seen plenty of other people complaining about this on online forums or websites specialized in car issues.
Fow system show a red lighting car on the system. Information control was frozen. I was not able to detect what was the problem.
Was driving at 60 mph tire pressure low light came on. Checked all tires had correct air in all. This is the third time light has come on have been back to dealer twice.
During normal use, valve stem broke halfway down the stem which required replacement of the valve stem and tire pressure sensor on that one wheel.
I had two incidents due to low tire pressure while I was riding the car with my 2 years old child. The first incident happened in may 2014 when one of the tires went flat. While I was driving I felt the car is imbalanced. I was trying to pull over at the highway to inspect the car. After a while I found a safe place and pulled over and found that one of the tires are going flat. However, the tire alarm system didn't show anything or didn't beep. I took the first exist and took the car to the nearest tire center to take care of it. The tire pressure alarm went on and started beeping just when the tire was almost flat and luckily I was by the tire center anyway. The second incident happened in September 2014. I felt the car is somewhat going out of control but again, no tire pressure alarm. Suddenly two tires blown off and the rims got damaged too. It was a terrible experience as the road was very narrow, no road shoulder and I had to drive a little while on the rims to find a shoulder that I could stop. I fixed the car for tires and rims and now after a while I received the recall letter about Mazda's tire pressure alarm software issues. I took the car to the dealership and they updated the software as part of recall. I requesting refund for the expenses in my two incidents due to safety issues. After all, I do not trust riding the car with my 2 years old child at all.
Driving in middle lane on route 110 in NY and wheel locked up and car went to the left. Bought car into dealer before this for a problem for grunding noise on the same side in Feb. Mazda has a recall and I need info on recall.
Driving on I-94 west, near ann arbor, mi. Felt vibration, then left rear tire blew. Managed to pull to the shoulder and changed tire. Inspected damaged tire and noticed valve stem and sensor were missing. The next day checked the other tires for proper inflation and when I tried to remove the valve cap from the right rear tire,it blew off with the core stem and the tire went flat. Had both tires repaired, new sensors and tire. I had new tires installed on 1-11-14 and two sensors were changed at that time. So three out of the four sensors failed with one blown tire .
My husband was driving on the NJ turnpike and the tire pressure monitor light came on. Within a minute the rear passenger tire was completly flat. After inspected by a tire dealer, it was determined that the tpms corroded and the nut came off while driving the car. The tpms fell into the tire causing an immediate flat tire. Warranty did not cover the defective tpms and Mazda does not have a safety recall on this part. The part was replaced with a new rubber tpms. [original made of metal] this is an obvious concern if Mazda is now replacing the part with a new material. This is a major safety concern as a major accident could have occurred. Luckily, the incident did not result in an accident or injuries. Now there is a concern for the other three tpms which are also corroded and the same issue can happen. Mazda needs to issue a safety recall since I am afraid to drive my infant and toddler until all tpms are replaced with the new tpms design.
Upon a routine tire rotation service performed at a good year retail service center, I was told by the service technician that the front right tire had suffered a defect and was unsafe for travel at highway speed. When searching for a replacement of the original equipment tire, a dunlop sp5000 p225 19r45, it was determined that the tire was on nationwide back order. Good year, being the owner, manufacturer and distributor of dunlop tires, informed me that they were unable to find or locate a reliable replacement for my defective tire within a foreseeable time period, and instructed me to contact the dealership. The dealership, ray brandt Mazda in harvey, louisiana, was located over 50 miles away. I then drove the vehicle to ray brandt and was told by the dealer service representative that no equivalent replacement would be available for my 2014 Mazda6 for at least 3 to 5 days. I asked what I should do in the meantime, and was told that I was responsible for either driving the vehicle or finding a replacement at my own expense. It has since taken nine days since the time it was determined that a defective tire had compromised the safe operation of the car for a replacement tire to be located and delivered to the dealership, meanwhile there has been no attempt by the manufacturer of the tire, good year, or the vehicle, Mazda, to determine the cause of the defect or provide replacement transportation. I was told that this tire was abruptly discontinued after I purchased the vehicle in September 2013, and I was never informed of any likelihood of defect or of a discontinuation that would render replacement tires unavailable in the event of defect, road hazard or other tire failure. I have been forced to choose between risking life or limb by driving on the defective tire or facing economic hardship in attempt to find alternate transportation to work.
