Air Bag Problems of Mazda Miata

A/b lights 5 times then once indicating failure of air bag module. I contacted a dealer and then contacted corporate. The module is no longer available. The air bags are inoperative without a functioning module. The safety belts may also be affected. All 1994 Miatas should be recalled to replace the module and if necessary the air bags and safety belts. The VIN contains an o; it may be a number (zero) or a letter.

Tl- the contact owns a 1995 Mazda Miata. The contact stated while traveling 25 mph, the steering wheel column caught on fire. The contact sustained 2nd degree burns. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 90,000.

Blindness caused by airbag. Crash caused by throttle sticking open. Full braking immediate as shown by skid marks and while brakes slowed vehicle unable to stop the car or turn before impact. Video and witnesses confirm cause must be open throttle. Both braking and turning failed to stop or turn the car. Throttle open or accelerator jammed full on.

Blindness caused by airbag. Crash caused by throttle stucking openg. Full braking with skid marks slowed vehicle but did not stop the car before impact.

Avoided a deer hit a tree approx. 20-25 mph . Severe frontal damage and air bag didn't activate. . Why as this would have save my back head and lips. . .

I went through a dip (slower than usually taken) in my neighborhood and my airbags deployed. I don't think this should have occured and was due to faulty air bags. The damage to my car reached over $7000, including interior repairs caused from the air bags and undercarriage/alignment damage due to hitting a curb after my temporary blindness and shock. The cuts and bruises dealt to me and my passenger were minimal and did not require medical attention. I then went for over a month without a car because special parts had to be ordered by the body shop. All of this due to faulty air bags in my 1996 Mazda Miata.

The vehicle was involved in an accident in which at the time of impact the steering wheel came off the main column, ahead of the air bag and hit the driver, it seems this may have occured when the air bag went off, the driver stated that the air bag did not seem to inflate fully. Nlm.
