Ignition Switch problems of the 2001 Mazda MPV

The contact owns a 2001 Mazda Mpv. The contact stated the vehicle was shut off and in the park position. As the contact exited, the vehicle began to roll backward until crashing into a tree. The dealer contributed the failure to a faulty ignition switch. The ignition switch was replaced by the dealer and the failure had not recurred since the repair. The failure mileage was 87,000 and the current mileage was 88,500. Updated 11/22/10 updated 11/23/10.

Consumer was unable to remove the key from the vehicle. Dealer stated that the shift interlock was defective consumer will have to pay for the replacement.

Ignition key stuck and won't come out of ignition switch. I needed to replace all the column, a new battery, a new ignition system. . . . . . Thousand dollars. The dealerk is now notified.
