Failure Date: 05/25/2016

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2005 Mazda Mpv. The contact stated that there was a random failure and various warning indicators flashed, including the service engine and air bag warning indicators. In addition, the interior lighting failed to function. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v354000 (air bags) several months ago and was unable to schedule a repair with a dealer within a reasonable time frame. The contact was uncertain of when the vehicle would be repaired. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2010

We own a 2005 Mazda Mpv. Two years after purchasing the vehicle it started to shake and jerk as if it wanted to turn off, after taking it to the dealership it turns out the engine was misfiring due an ignition coil giving out. Nine months later it happens again. This time they replaced all 6 six ignition coils. Two years after replacing all six coils it happens again. This time they replaced the #3 coil. While at the dealership the service lady told us that this is a consistent problem with this vehicle and that we would have this problem with the coils for as long as we own the van. All three times that this has happened the car shakes and acts as if the engine wants to shut off. After vigorous research online we found out that we are not the only ones dealing with this problem. After complaining to Mazda via email all they had to say was since the car was under warranty and all the coils where fix that they would not be able to help us in the future once our extended warranty runs out.

At 38,000 miles, the van started to have intermittent hesitations that randomly occurred. I needed to replace all ignition coils at a cost in excess of $600.
