Air Bag Problems of Mazda MX5

Mazda and NHTSA have sent out multiple notices calling owner to go to dealers to have the recall remediated. If one schedules to go to a dealership they are informed that Mazda does not yet have a tool available to remedy the issue. I've been on a waiting list for over 4 months and no tool is available yet. Since this appears to be a software issue it's very concerning that it's taking this long to create a "tool" to resolve an airbag issue.

Contacted rohrich Mazda 2690 w liberty Ave, pittsburgh PA 412. 344. 3600 regarding the airbag recall today. They have no knowledge of this recall and therefore I am unable to have it corrected. Is my car safe to drive? when will I be able to get it fixed? thanks, bill.

On [xxx] my [xxx] son was driving the vehicle and at low speed (30 mph or under) lost control of the vehicle in a turn. The vehicle hit a telephone pole that was rotted from termite infestation which shattered into three pieces (one piece landing on the cars windshield frame and driver roll bar hoop) . He impacted the airbags and had an unstable anterior fracture of the c5 vertebrae and a stable posterior fracture of the c5 vertebrae. He was graded an asia b spinal cord injury and was paralyzed from the neck down. He spent 42 days in trauma icu and then neuro rehab learning how to walk and use the bathroom. He has many lingering effects and still has loss of use of fingers on both hands as well as difficulties walking and gripping objects. His passenger did not hit the airbags and was uninjured. I was in an accident on may 1st 2022. I was traveling south when another car hit me. The airbags didn't deploy at all none of them did you can see from the pics and video I have attached and hear the audio from my dash cam saying the airbag deployment was detected but no airbags came out. (dash cam video won't upload but I can email or text it if needed) the car is currently at the ken garff Honda body shop in riverdale utah.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Mazda mx-5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 80 mph a deer crashed into the vehicle causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle. During the crash the vehicle went airborne before crashing to the ground. No airbags deployed during the incident. No injuries were report. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer was not notified of the incident. On April 2,2020 me and a passenger were in an accident where we flipped upside down in the mx 5 and no airbags deployed for the driver side or passenger side and we were hurt very bad and should not have made it alfa insurance is holding the car for an investigation. This happened on hwy.

Air bag comes on and stays on after starting vehicle. Diagnostic code indicates srs module is at fault or could be electrical connection per dealer. Dealer indicated srs module is not available even if it is determined as the failure after removing dash to access module. Vehicle only has 64, 000 miles. Vehicle will not pass safety inspection in some states which makes a mint car worthless and unsafe to drive.

I had a car accident on 13 Nov 2016 whereby the vehicle rolled several times down a steep incline. None of the airbags were deployed. My spinal cord was fractured and my skull cracked.

Sitting in driver side or car while vehicle was idling while in driveway. Airbag deployed.

The accident occurred when a pedestrian darted out into a crosswalk. The first car slammed on the breaks. The car behind it slammed on their breaks, and I was the car behind the second car. I tried to avoid the car in front of me, but my car did not stop in time. I was traveling at approximately 30 mph on a side street. I had my seatbelt fastened. My nose hit the steering wheel and started to bleed profusely. I went to emergency, and they advised me to see my doctor for a checkup. The doctor ordered an x-ray of my nose. I have a tiny fracture and contusion, which led to two very black eyes and swelling. I have photos of the damage to the vehicle and to my face. The airbag did not inflate.
