Engine problems of the 1997 Mazda Protege

Two problems related to engine have been reported for the 1997 Mazda Protege. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 04/11/1999

Engine idled roughly. Vehicle was under warranty. Dealer tightened engine valves. 2 months later, warranty expired. Dealer dismantled engine and had to remachine the valves.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 07/09/1997

Engine mounts. Rattle noice inside the hood when car sits at an idle & reverse. Also with a/c on & it vibrates.
