Two problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 1998 Mazda Protege. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The front seat belts were loose and will not retract back in to normal position.
Passenger's side seatbelt is stuck, will not retract out, which will not allow passenger to put it on, resulting in loss of protection.
